Very good. The bun was warm and really tasty, sweet and sticky. The corn bread had a really nice Cotoia cheese and spice topping. Very moist and flavorful. No complaints on entrees at the table. I had the brisket sandwich, packed with flavor. A teriyaki type sauce, great aioli, fresh bread and some tasty picketed vegetables. The fresh cooked chips were really nice, salt and vinegar. The atmosphere here was great, quite modern and unique. The price for lunch special was also really good (and I love trying more things!) The asian chicken salad was pleasantly surprising because I was not expecting soba noodles. The ingredients of turkey club salad were good but the pieces of bread were far too small and too thick to properly sandwich the inner portions and therefore they fell apart while I was eating it twice, forcing me to resort right to a fork and knife. My friend had the chicken pop which she said was quite good! We were seated in a further corner and the waiter did not check up on us for water and took a very long time to bring our check. Was in town at this hotel for a week. The first couple nights were ok. The foods bland but serviceable for hotel food. Last night we came here we ordered two burgers at the bar. I got a double that I was told had to be medium well because it's two smaller patties. Came out medium rare at best. Coworker ordered a medium well single Patty burger. Came out Pittsburgh blue. I loudly commented on it as the bartenders hadn't asked anything about our meal. There was no recognition. They don't care so I wouldn't recommend eating here unless you literally can't get anywhere else in the area. Don't worry, after not being asked how our meal was for the duration they did ask how everything was after a solid 30 minutes of not bites being taken from a plate. Honestly some of the worst service I've ever had but don't worry they took the raw burger off our bill. Ordered the Grover Burger and French Onion Soup. The soup is to die for!!!! The burger is delicious. Here's the thing. I have a real big issue with charging the same prices you'd pay in the restaurant if the food is going to be sloppily packaged/wrapped in parchment type paper (the burger). First time here. Recently moved to the area and was searching for new new restaurants and this place was highly recommended. Interesting it's attached to a hotel but it was very busy and plenty of parking. Phillip was our server and he was very kind and attentive. We started with the French onion soup which was good. Shared the margherita pizza the sauce was sweet, it was just ok but the Caesar salad was really good and so was the chicken we added into it. It was a huge portion. Caesar salad was overdressed and salmon had no seasoning. French Onion soup had a hint of cinnamon in the flavor and the cheese was so burned that it missed the melty goodness. Stopped here before a lunch meeting with some additional time to kill. Attached to the Embassy suites hotel, the restaurant is at least independent from it so your not getting some hotel dining experience. The menu actually looked fairly impressive. I decided on the Southern Comfort which is a fried chicken sandwich with a mixed greens salad. I was happy with the salad as it definitely had a better mix of greens and they don't drench it with dressing. Sandwich itself was also very good as well. Nice fry on the chicken, and the chicken was nice and moist. Everything seemed pretty solid with the meal. The staff was nice and friendly as well, and the food came out in a timely manner. Overall given the lunch experience and their menu options, I would assume dinner would be a pretty good experience. I will definitely be stopping by here again when I am in the area given the overall experience on my first time here. read more

Another shining example of NJ's long list of utterly forgettable and mediocre eateries. It's a shame too as they invested so much money into making the facility beautiful (which it is). The surrounding scenery is equally tranquil and beautiful. The bartenders make pretty decent drinks, the fault utterly and totally lies with the cooks and their awful execution of a menu that has potential at least on paper. The only area without a true blindspot is perhaps their grilled meats which seemed to be executed reasonably well from the looks of neighboring tables' dishes. I unfortunately didn't go in that direction. We started with two under-seasoned and somewhat watery salads. Watery in that is this lettuce past its prime kind of watery. The spring salad was deconstructed and full of salty olives and a gloppy burrata. The G&C salad was poorly seasoned lacking acid and salt. Soggy romaine. The pappardelle, had giant stewed tomatoes in it, skin on and massive quantities of giant olives. Proportionately the choice of ingredients just made it look crude. Tasted ok however, except for the skin on tomatoes. The crab bisque had an identity crisis. For one, you couldn't tell if there was any crab in it. It was also chunky and gloppy with tons of other stuff in it like corn, eg. it thought it was a corn chowder and not a smooth bisque. Proof positive that at least someone in the back of the restaurant needs to be fired for not knowing the difference between a chowder and a bisque. We have dined here several times and usually enjoy it but unfortunately we had a terrible experience here on 11/27. It was not very crowded but we waited for ten minutes despite having a reservation. They sat us near the crowded bar area which had a mediocre singer and it was too loud to have quiet conversation. Our appetizer did not take too long and we enjoyed it but then we waited close to 30 minutes for our dinner. The waiter was not apologetic and when we asked he said the other side of the restaurant was very crowded. My husband took a walk over to see that there were empty tables on that side too. We could see the kitchen from our seats and could not understand why it was so slow. They eventually offered us dessert on the house since dinner took so long. We asked to get it go and then proceeded to wait again for them to bring it. Eventually my husband went up to the hostess to ask for our check because we could not see our waiter. We just wanted to leave. The waiter wanted us to wait for the dessert that he insisted was still coming. So after being there for about two hours we left. The waiter met us at our car just as we were pulling out to hand us a bag with our desserts. While I appreciated his efforts it was just a little ridiculous. The server apologize to her and brought out another one that had 1/2 the amount of lobster then on the original plate.now I have been in the industry my hole life as a chef I would've been out there personally apologizing in person and would have taken it given them the whole meal for free or at least the salad! instead the manager came out and only gave her a dessert to share. A little light on the salt but too heavy on the mayo and just a very little bit of crab. Buratta, well it's buratta. I've also had the Brussels sprouts side. It was good but too heavy on the olive oil for my taste. One of the disappointments I had while attempting to dine and Grain & Cane was how we were greeted and treated without a reservation. It was a Saturday night around 7:45 pm. We walked into the restaurant, not greeted by the host, and didn't see anyone waiting so we thought we would get right in. After a min or so of not being greeted, I went up to the host and asked for a table for to. He looked at me and replied "Do you have a reservation? If not, I can't sit you until 8:45." A little rude, but you never know what people are going through so I left giving the host the benefit of the doubt. All to find out that when I opened my open table app that there were reservations available beginning at 8:15! It was quite strange. I don't foresee myself going back on my own. read more

The kids pasta was a joke - maybe enough to feed a three year old. The kids chicken tenders with fries had the most soft and yucky French fries. And my Cesar salad was made without any love at all. I called two times at 4:30 and nobody answered so I assumed they were not taking reservations. When me and my 3 girlfriends got here at 7:15 it was not crowded at all! The hostess was a complete miserable a sty bitch. She told us we could not be seated bc we didn't have reservations. Her name is Cathy and because of her attitude it put a damper on the initial mood of our what is supposed to be a great girls night out for my birthday. Grain & Cane has a smaller, seasonal menu but everything on it is well done and delicious. Most of the food has a southern flair, like the high end restaurants in Nashville. My son ordered the mashed potatoes and fried chicken with hot sauce on the side and it was fantastic. There are lighter dishes too like the grilled salmon with summer corn tabbouleh. We shared S'mores and a warm berry tart served in a skillet for dessert. They have taken all the precautions for COVID-19 and the tables were well spaced. Outdoor seating is under a high awning so it is ok to eat there if it's raining. read more

We have eaten here a number of times and the food and services have always been consistent. We've never had a bad meal nor bad service. The biggest annoyance is that they tend to add extra unnecessary items to really great food that tend to not mix well and actually create confusion and the food is often under seasoned. I kept looking at all the nice dishes that were coming out and wishing I had ordered that. The only complaint I have is the waitress we had must have been having a bad day she was not very friendly and we would have to keep looking for her. She was not attentive to our table at all. Not to take away from the rest of the staff because everyone else was very nice and bubbly and even remembered my friend and her boyfriend from previous visits. Also I told my friend I would add this for him that the Riccota chesse appetizer was not as good as a previous visit. Grain and Cane's interior gives nod to an old world train station with its revolving track board with quirky quotes rotating with the classic "clicking sound" - which was super fun! Located inside a hotel I think Grain & Cane can up their prices since many of people who go are going our of convenience. The drinks were stiff but nothing to brag about and the seafood tower alone is enough for two but at that price point - it's hard to run back and get again. I wasn't wowed enough to go back soon but maybe someday I'll return. read more

I highly recommend the Double Grover Burger (the best burger around) as my teenage daughter raves about the rigatoni for dinner and banana pudding for dessert. Went there for Mother's Day brunch. We sat outside on the patio and it was a lovely space. We ordered the burger which was well prepared & the fries were good. Also had the Chicken & Waffles. Fried chicken was really crispy. The waffles were really sweet tasted more like funnel cake. Also ordered Lobster Cobb, which was disappointing. I can't complain about the lobster but the rest of the salad was so-so. I expected hard boiled egg in the Cobb and the greens mix was more radicchio and greens that were more stem than leaf. Dessert was so-so. The Black Cherry Clafoutis was more rubbery than creamy. The pistachios ice cream that accompanied it was delicious and the best part of my meal today. read more
