My wife and I went to Moe's Tapas Bar & Bistro for a cocktail and late meal after flying in from Los Angeles. Since we wanted to eat light, we ordered from Moe's extensive appetizer menu. We chose the Mediterranean sampler and the grilled shrimp and polenta. We were very satisfied with the grilled shrimp / polenta that came out first. When the sampler was served we were blown away by the size and taste of all the selections. We took the leftovers back to our room and enjoyed them the next day. What an amazing find. It's the best restaurant we have visited in quite awhile. The service was fast and friendly. But it's the food....outstanding. We love grilled octopus. Moe's is super. We love aubergine. The roasted eggplant is super. Both are on the tapas menu. For entrees we had lamb shanks from the specials menu and the Alaskan John Dory from the regular menu. Chef Moe assisted in our selections. He is so knowledgeable about his foods, herbs and spices. More creates delicious and satisfying dishes that leave you wanting to come back again. read more

Great place. The ambiance was impressive. The outdoor patio was dreamy. Table for 6-8 ppl had table with center fire pit, very impressive. We went for ladies night with a live band. Table came with artichoke dip and toasted Italian bread. Yum!! Drinks were on point. I got the bourbon smash. Food was satisfying. Love my artichoke with lemon and crabmeat lump. I got the scallops with grouper dish. I ate the whole plate. I would definitely recommend it. It's attached to a hotel and the carpet on the way to the restroom was memory foam. First time here. The food is pretty good, but the shrimp were a bit undercooked. The service is horrible. The server never asked if we wanted drink refills (and one of my companions even REPEATEDLY asked). This includes the wine, drinks, and coffee. We also asked for more bread. Ignored. Extra plate. Ignored. The bus boy didn't speak a word of English and had no clue what we asked of him. I don't fault him, but often he was the only person coming to the table. The salads were 5-star. The octopus app was subpar. The lobster tails and lamb tagine were great. But the service ruined it for me. For dessert, the chocolate mousse had whipped cream in the middle. Come on! At that price, why are you cheaping out on the chocolate?! Unconscionable! The piano player was excellent, though loud at times. The place was a mixed bag. Has great potential with some focused effort on service and perhaps an expanded menu offering. Oh, and the credit card surcharge was a bit lame, especially given the prices. Delicious! I subsequently ate at Moe's every night of my stay. I ate a different dish each night. Everything I ate was so good. And the deserts! Wow, superb! Excellent service! Intimate atmosphere. We've been coming to Moe'sBistro for three years now. The food is always great , regular days or Thanksgiving Buffet. The service was always good. This year during the Thanksgiving Buffet was not a good experience. I don't know if all the waiters quit or was let go but the service was terrible! We even brought friends with us , saying how great this pkace is all the time. IT WAS AN EMBARRASMENT! I don't know if we'll be back again or recommend this place again. Sorry Moe. Went for dinner and wasn't impressed with my overpriced meal. My beet salad was overdressed and the wine selection was not ideal for wines by the glass. Bartender (who was a a really nice guy) substitutes vodka as he didn't have the right alcohol...no problem... We had 4 drinks total and were charged $63!! $15 for a shot of vodka and then another $3 for something called "martini"!!. A total of $18 per drink!! Gotta be kidding me!!. I travel the world and have never paid so much for a drink like this!! Not even in NYC have I paid this much for a single drink. And the bartender even precisely measured out the 1oz shot. Not even a tiny extra more. Crazy...bar makes up the price of the entire bottle with in just one shot. read more

Well after that I could not ignore his enthusiasm toward the food and then the burger, so I went basic ...bacon cheese burger and fries an whooooooooa Nelly when the plate came out the presentation alone made me almost not want to touch it as it was super sexy plate....lol that's the foodie in me talking lol The burger had this jumbo tater tot type thing stuck on top of the burger with a jumbo toothpick! I examined it and you could smell that is was stuffed unlike any tater I had ever had. I removed the stick and broke open the jumbo tater tot and to my surprise there was cheese and some type of smoky smelling meat...my stomach said BITE IT! I ALWAY LISTEN TO MY STOMACH AND I DID!!! OMG!! OMG!! SUPER AMAZING!!! Mind you I had not even touched anything else yet and already in heaven via a tater tot...well darn what's the rest of the plate like??? Well....I was not disappointed!! I cut the burger in half and went in!!! Burger DELICIOUS!! FRIES....out of this world!!! I love a good fry and a burger!! Potatoes are my weakness and theirs have made it to the top of my top 3 best French fries list!! & trust I eat a lot of fries!! Lol The food overall was amazing, I was there with a co worker and we had drinks which George made to perfection! The owner was even super attentive and greeted all customers warmly! It was a absolute pleasure to meet him as I enjoy good food and sometimes you dont always get to meet the people behind the good food or experience that you have! I was able to here! I went to Moe's for the first time tonight and I was expecting a profound, yet subtly delicious meal. I don't often review on yelp, but when I do, it's because the food is tragically mismanaged and dreadfully traumatizing. I ordered the 10 oz. filet mignon for $48 and it was the most appalling, utterly disappointing steak I've ever eaten--it was truly unbelievably repulsive. I ordered the steak medium rare and it came out medium which, honestly, not that big of a deal. I ate two bites before realizing that although I'm particularly secular, a dish this sinful would not be tolerated by my digestive system. The mushroom toppings had more flavor than the steak itself and I'd even go as far to say I would've rather ordered a stray alley-way raccoon than this man made disaster of a dish. Poor performance all around and an oddly overwhelming feeling of disdain toward the waitress for not warning me of this achingly lousy dish in the first place--I would've rather eaten the unseasoned ceramic plate if I could. If I was severely dehydrated, underfed and on the verge of death in the middle of the Sahara dessert during a thousand year drought, I think I'd still pass up on this steak. I reckon a deaf and blind peacock with no experience in culinary arts could somehow prepare something slightly less heinous than this steak. I'd rather spontaneously combust from the magnitude of the spine-breaking pressure within the gas clouds of Jupiter than to eat this steak again. The espresso was tasty. 1/5 stars read more

However when you have a look at the menu, it's a little surprising: high end steaks, mediterranean fare, some great sounding fish dishes, a wine and liquor list that many area steak houses would be jealous of... Went in, had the shrimp diavolo appetizer - a little spicer than I expected, but VERY tasty. My family had the mediterranean sampler for 2, which could have served 4 without any difficulty (I'm not huge on the various mushy foods that come on a dish like that, but the falafels were delicious). I followed up with a pasta dish from the special menu that was great - my son had the filet migneon and enjoyed it. My wife had the John Dory fish special and also enjoyed it. Be aware that the place can be a little pricey, especially if you're judging it based on the fact that it's in a best western. While the mark up on wine bottles isn't horrible, be aware that there's still a markup. They also have some higher end scotch, so make sure you check the price tags before ordering. VERY friendly wait staff: incredibly attentive and on top of their game. Seriously - give the place a shot, you will be pleasantly surprised! read more

As a local resident we decided to give Moe's another shot after a friend said they'd tried it recently and said it was better after several years of inconsistency. Well, sad to share that it's still not great. Food is just ok but not inexpensive and the atmosphere is nothing special. Truly caters to the people staying in the hotel it is attached to. They offer some hummus up front with some stale/hard "bread". Would have preferred some warm pita and fresh hummus considering its supposed to be Mediterranean. Our fish entrees were nothing special so we passed on dessert and left. Our waitress was nice and very attentive. We won't be back unfortunately. read more

We came here on Saturday night for my mom's birthday. There were 4 of us including a baby and they had a highchair which is always a bonus! We ordered the Mediterranean sampler as an appetizer. It said the portion serves 2 but I swear it was enough food for 4 people. All the traditional Mediterranean delicacies were on display including hummus, falafel, babaganoush, grape leaves, and more. We also order the veggie spring rolls which were perfectly fried and very tasty. For our entrees we got the John Dory stuffed with crabmeat and Chicken Dadamoe which was basically Chicken Francese. Both dishes were good and served with generous portions but left something to be desired. The service was excellent and the ambience was very pleasant. The ambiance inside the restaurant is warm and very inviting. The acoustic guitarist made the vibe even better. BYOB is a plus! This is my favorite restaurant in New Providence, and would probably rank it top 5 on my personal list in the greater New York area. As a Manhattan transplant, I've been to my fair share of great restaurants. What sets this place apart for me is really one of their special dishes that show up from time to time, THE MUSHROOM RISOTTO LAMB SHANK. This dish combines two of my favorite things together, and is cooked to perfection. The lamb shank is tender and full of flavor, while the mushroom risotto is creamy without being too heavy. What a genius dish!! No more debating which one of these two things I should order :-D Oh, did I also mention that they have live music every Friday and Saturday evening? The guitarist plays delightful and soothing music, which really relaxes you from a long week. Not to mention the service here is superb. Attentive and friendly.
