    Burnt onion rings
    Priscilla P.

I have ordered from here three times and the first two times in mid January were excellent - 5 stars. Today was a disaster - 0 stars. The food was burnt and so unbelievably greasy... My hands were collecting pools of grease that were dripping off the bread which were soaked like sponges. The burger patty was paper thin and burnt and was definitely the scrapings of beef fat and waste from the pan. The onion rings were burnt and wayyyy too salty. Sadly, the food was inedible and I had to throw it all away.

First off the service was fabulous. Both girls at the front were so nice and smiled (sounds ridiculous but it makes a difference). They were also very helpful because we couldn't make up our minds. On to the burgers. I think it's a must to get a double patty as the burgers are thin. They are greasy/juicy but it didn't drip down my hand. Fries and onion rings were nicely seasoned. Overall we would come back again because they have interesting burger combinations and a welcoming staff.

@BigDudesBigFoods took a little trip to #MadisonNJ to get some tasty #SmashBurgers and #cheesesteaks from a flavor filled #SmallBusiness called @FableNFlame #FableNFlame is in an old but clean, refurbished, diner on Madison's iconic Main Street with an "Aesop's Fables" themed decor and menu. Joe & I got the #EmberStack which is a Smashed Patty with Pastrami, Smoked Mozzarella, and caramelized , arugula, pickles and garlic aioli. We also got the #TheSmokewood A cheesesteak with a blend of Pastrami and ribeye , topped with smoked mozzarella, crispy fried onions , and ranch. The perfect side to go with these #Smashterpieces is Lore Tots, Crispy tater tots topped with melted cheese and smash patty, sprinkled with crispy onions , fable sauce, and fresh herbs. The #FableSauce is amazing! We dipped our steak fries in the leftovers. #BigDudesBigFoods got to F&F at 4:00pm, right between the after school and dinner rush, so we had the place almost to ourselves. Fableand Flame is definitely #BDBFCertified and we will be back!!! #BDBF #SupportSmallBusiness

A short walk later, I found myself at Destination Dogs, a place I had seen in photographs that suggested capaciousness. In reality, it is smaller.  This is not a complaint, just an observation.  I remember once hearing something about the contents of small packages. At 12:30 the place was full. Packed with humanity and appetite. I was seated quickly, as if someone had anticipated my hunger in advance. From the bar came the sound of construction crews discussing their midday rituals. Apparently this is where they come on Fridays, to repair themselves while they repair the city. It explained everything. Service was swift and attentive, a minor miracle given the crowd. I began with a Scotch egg, an item that seemed to have wandered in from another story entirely. I ordered it for that reason. I had always imagined my first Scotch egg would be eaten in an English pub under low ceilings and older regrets. Instead, here it was. Perfectly crisp, warm, and generous. The universe does not ask for permission. Then came the main event. The menu is an atlas of hot dogs. Domestic. International. Proteins in tube form arranged like possibilities. There is even an invitation to build your own, which I accepted. I attempted to recreate a favorite from Crif Dogs, a thing called the Spicy Redneck. Bacon wrapped dog. Pickled jalapenos. Coleslaw. Simple in theory. Destination Dogs improved upon it in every way that matters. The bacon crisped with purpose. The jalapenos spoke clearly. The coleslaw behaved. The hot dog itself seemed proud to be there. All of this, plus a 16 ounce beer, cost me about twenty five dollars with tip. A small price for order in a chaotic universe. Five stars. Not because perfection exists, but because this comes close enough to make the argument.

Service was awesome, walked in 2 mins before happy hour and the waiter took our beer order in record time. He was also very attentive during our entire meal. I ordered the Andouille Armstrong and it was my fav, great snap on the dog and all the flavors complimented each other great, I also had the Si Si Guey, wasn't my favorite but wasn't horrible, I wasn't a fan of the chorizo, I felt the toppings made this hot dog. As for ambiance, it's a bar, has TV, liquor, beer, etc., but clean. If I was local I'd be a regular!

Those deliciously loaded Dogs I ordered were JJ's Belly Busters and had plenty of Hot Onions, Sauerkraut, Cheese, Hot Chili, and Spicy Mustard. Definitely the best loaded Hot Dogs I've had in a while. The Dog itself was flavorful and had a perfect bite to it. Buns were hearty and didn't split or fall apart like some other places, even though they were overloaded which left me very impressed. I really thought the inside of my to- go bag was gonna be a total mess but as you can see everything stayed put nicely. Friendly Service at this small but functional spot which has very few indoor seating options but it's mostly a grab and go kinda place. That's ok Hot Dogs are most definitely enjoyed better outdoors anyway am I right?  Right. Come And Get Your Munch On!!

There's only two tables available in the small space so the car would be Plan B. I enjoyed my meal while listening to ESPN's NFL Draft coverage and listening to faint sounds of music, both more for the sake of the workers. Both hot dogs were great with my preference leaning towards the Belly Buster. The fries are of the thin variety.
