Phenomenal burger! Probably the best burger I've ever ordered from a sit down restaurant and they come served with a generous helping of homemade, fresh, and hot french fries. We've been coming here a few times a year since it opened. I don't think we'll be back after tonight. Service was very slow. Food took forever to arrive and arrived cold. I don't think this was the waiter. They seemed to have a system where the waiters turn in the order and different runners bring it out. They are pretty much Buffalo chicken drumsticks. The meat was kind of tough and I think wings are better suited for Buffalo sauce Soft shell crab sandwich 3/5 - I was originally going to order the spaghetti with clams and I probably should have stuck with my gut. The crab itself was fine, I just did not love the accompaniments. There were sun dried tomatoes and onion remoulade and I don't think the flavors complimented the crab well. My husband and I stumbled upon this spot for a date night. Through pictures online I immediately liked the atmosphere / vibe and their menu choices. Very easy to make a reservation. Myself in particular am very selective when I order a steak / red meat of any kind. I went on a limb and ordered the Wagyu sirloin and it was perfect! The tenderness of the cut and the seared crisp outside was mouth watering. My husband for the first time was jealous of my choice of entree. He ordered the Nashville hot chicken. We arrived early for our reservation and the hostess seated us promptly. Drinks and apps were brought quickly and then the wheels came off. Our server must've walked past us 100 times over the next 35-40 minutes while our drinks ran dry and our entrees sat in the kitchen. Finally we flagged her down and she said she would go "check on our orders" and brought it out immediately. It was clear it had been cooked ages ago and was just sitting there. Apps were good - disco fries and meatballs were enjoyable. But in addition to being lukewarm my burger had a big rubbery thick cut piece of bacon that had not been cooked properly and made actually getting a bite of bacon with my burger quite a challenge. Eventually I ended up just taking it off and leaving a good one inch piece of rubbery inedible fat on my plate. Overall, not a great experience. The hostess was kind enough to offer we speak to a manager, but my friend who was speaking with her on the way out decided he didn't want "all that", This place has a lot going for it and decent potential, it's just a shame that a poorly trained server and kitchen that gets it right half the time kind of spoiled the experience. read more

We stayed at the hotel connected to this restaurant. At first glance I was impressed with the aesthetics and my family and I were excited to give it a shot for dinner. The moment we walked in, I knew it wouldn't be great. It seemed as though it wasn't kid friendly, when they saw we had kids my husband saw one of the waiters roll their eyes when he realized we were his next table. My kids are older, well traveled and well behaved. I immediately felt out off by this but we were hungry and didn't want to drive somewhere else. We literally sat there for 20 minutes for our waiter, Izet. He didn't even introduce himself or give any eye contact during the duration of our meal. It felt very odd. I got the strawberry spritzer, was half full and a ton of ice for $15, what a waste. The only decent thing was the Caesar salad. My fresh made pasta was gluey and lumpy, definitely not cooked properly. I sent that back but had to flag down someone who wasn't even our waiter because he never came to our table to check on us. Take my advice, skip on this place for dinner. It's not worth it. read more

Came here tonight with my good friend for drinks and dinner. I love the upscale and classy decor from the entrance to the dining room area. I ordered a White Sangria and so did my friend. Damn the glasses we're huge though lol. We waited for seats at the bar so Misheel can continue providing us with excellent service. Great dinner spot! The location is kind of strange because it's part of the Embassy suites hotel but dinner was delicious and service was great! We got drinks, pizza, and dessert. I appreciate they had GF options for the pizza and my GF friend said their version of GF pizza was really good! The best part of the meal was the mixed berry cobbler which was steaming hot with a big scoop of decadent vanilla ice cream on top. Stuck in a nearly invisible office / hotel campus area, this upscale eatery offers inventive American fare. We tried it as a potential end-spot for a Porsche Club rally so we tried several offerings. First, the wings were a different take on this finger-food staple. We thought they were excellent and the 4-wing plate was just the right size for a small group. I had their take on a crab cake (the waiter suggested it) - it came with a crisp, well dressed salad and would order it again. Really delicate flavor, really fresh tasting. I had their pizza (pictured) and my companions had Shrimp Scampi (gobbled down, plate cleared) and the chicken waffles - not a scrap left over with lots of yummy noises throughout the meal. Our server kept my soda glass full (designated driver) and the beer glasses refilled without waiting - a true professional. The only bump in an other-wise smooth road as the Gelato. Called home made, I figured it would be etherial. I was seriously disappointed. It had a strange pasty taste and a residue clung to the spoon. I'm a gelato snob - have tried it in several classic shops in Italy and make special trips to my local favorite place in NYC. This gelato needs help and I wouldn't recommend it. My friend had the Apple crumb (HOT!!) and he said it was wonderful. Interesting restaurant with some creative options on the menu. Spent the weekend in Berkeley Heights at the Embassy Suites, I had two meals at the Grain & Cane. We sat in the bar area both times. They have an old school Commodities Board that flips regularly between he specials & witty sayings. We ordered the speciality burger which was quite tasty plus the calamari appetizer which was lightly breaded. A pleasant meal but the service is a bit slow and the bar area can get noisey if a large party is in the bar. The second meal was lunch. Enjoyed the turkey club which was quite good and the service was quick. This restaurant is the only game in town in the office park but a nice place if you are stuck at the Embassy Suites. read more

The large rotating letter sign above the bar was very neat to see and observe change throughout the meal. Our wait staff was excellent. We ordered an array of different things, each being delicious. Very nice server. Staff appeared caring about covid guidelines. Amusing was after reading a review citing the table water had a taste and recommended a water filter and I have to say I agree. Seems like a small but meaningful change management should consider. I started with the burrata appetizer and it set a very tasty tone for the rest of the meal. Then I had the fried chicken sandwich with a side salad. Dressing could use more vinegar or flavor tasted very just oily. Chicken sandwich though was perfectly juicy and paired with a fluffy bun. For dessert we split the apple crumble. Holy mackerel, that was soooo good. Highly recommend. Surprised how packed it was given the location which is a testament to the quality. Came here after a very long night of travel with two kids. Just randomly found It. It was so so cute inside and amazing ambience. However the service was TERRIBLE . Our waiter was terrible, I don't know if we caught him on a bad night or what. I asked if there was any other way to make Brussels sprouts and he's like nope only friend which is fine but man the attitude. The food was delicious however which is why I'm disappointed to give this place 2 stars otherwise It would be 4-5. Wildly inconsistent Night one: very busy and had to wait a bit for the food but it was good--fresh, hot app (calamari) and very tasty main (salmon) and good service. Next night: much less busy, less attentive service, and a lot of socializing at the kitchen window between servers and cooks. We received lukewarm and under seasoned apps (French onion soup, meatballs) and I received a main that I couldn't finish (chicken Caesar salad) and was comped for because it was inedible. Another note about this entree: if a restaurant decides to serve a deconstructed Caesar salad, it needs to be exceptional if the customer is expected to cut up a huge stack of romaine lettuce themselves. And, more than the tiniest pinch of gremolata needs to be present as croutons are an important component of this salad. Also, don't drown each lettuce leaf in dressing because, and this is most important, no matter how much Caesar dressing you slather on, it will never hide or rehydrate the chicken that is as dry as dust. read more

OK, so for a restaurant attached to a faux nice hotel in what is essentially a massive parking lot in north Jersey, this place is actually pretty decent. Our family gathered here for a meal last week under distressing conditions, and we all managed to have a good time together, which, given our circumstances, is saying something. The atmosphere is hipsterish and pretty nice; their little sign thing above the bar that changed every few minutes was equally amusing and tacky. We sat at an intimate booth and everything was clean, which we appreciated. There's a solid beer selection and the sangria isn't bad. Our daughter got meatballs--basic, good sauce, no complaints. The lobster cobb salad was basically a bowl of 80% leaves, 10% of all the other ingredients, and 10% lobster; everything was piled on top for effect, and the dressing was beyond bland. For $26, that dish was a capital-L Loser. The roasted branzino was, we have to admit, a rather interesting dish. The combination of ingredients was unique, but we got thrown off by the varying temperatures of them on the plate. Still, the fish was nicely cooked and the whole thing tasted great. Props for that. The table shared dessert, and the "grilled" chocolate cake was basically just someone in the back throwing a kitchen torch over the side: #unimpressed. The ice creams were all delicious, and our kid heartily approved. Service was....fine? OK? Like, he got the job done, but was not as on top of the table as he could have been. We treated the family to dinner, so the check was high, and at the end of the day, some of the value just wasn't there (see: lobster cobb). It's 3.5 stars, and while we are choosing to round down to 3, we would recommend Grain & Cane if you're in the area and want a halfway decent meal. But don't go out of your way for it. read more

Not only was every visit seamless, it was wonderfully delicious, and priced right as well. My true joy was booking a Sunday brunch for 12 guests, with almost no lead time. G&C's manager Stephanie, just plain crushed it!! Not only did she take our last minute request with poise and grace, she delivered a family style meal for the ages!!
