What a cute bakery! I think I came in a bit late as their selection was limited. Came in late Saturday afternoon. I'll try to get here earlier in the day as I figured most bakeries are likely to be limited towards the end of the day.

    Pølsehorn

Service was excellent and quick. They warmed up the Polsehorn for us, which is chicken sausage in brioche blanket with sesame seeds. The sausage didn't really taste like chicken sausage. It was alright. I expected more from the bread, it was very plain and not very thick. I would have expected more rich buttery flavor and thicker dough for brioche. So it was a little dry overall. Ok, but wouldn't get again.

Dawn of the Bread Offshoot of the Danish Mill Bakery, Brød and Kage ("Bread and Cake") serves up authentic Danish pastries and other confections. The Good: *Located at the (slightly) less busy west side of DT Solvang *Public parking nearby (no parking lot) *Nice outdoor area in the back to enjoy your goodies *Nice selection of Danishes, including a Guava-cheese. Which I've never seen before here in Solvang. *Coffee The Meh: *I don't believe anything is made there, but brought in from the mothership bakery down the street. I'm guessing some of the more popular items as they only have, maybe ¼ the selection. *I don't particularly care about this since I rarely carry cash anymore, but they're a cashless business; so card, CashApp, or other wireless phone options only. The Ugly: *What kind of bakery doesn't open until 10 a.m.?? 0_o Conclusion: I was a bit disappointed as I thought it would be maybe a higher-end offshoot of the OG location, but it's basically just the same stuff in the opposite side of town. Which ain't bad, but it isn't necessarily must-see TV either. 3.5*

Came here and tried the chocolate chip cookie. Soooo good. Perfect mix of crispy outside and soft inside with rich flavor. The bakery is nice and small with lots of character. The workers are so kind and the prices are great.

Good thing I only bought two to try as it tasted different as well. Solvang Bakery came through with how they're supposed to be. Moist, not dry almond cookie topped with a chocolate ganache enrobed in more chocolate. So good, I bought 2 boxes of 6 to bring home and to share, lefse which I rarely see, and apple streudel even though our hotel had breakfast. Worth every bite and the service is excellent as they answered all our questions.

Today was a perfectly slow day that we found ourselves the only customers in the late afternoon. We were able to take our time browsing every shelf and display. The gingerbread houses were amazing. Everything looked so tasty, especially those Danish buttercookies beautifully boxed and wrapped with ribbon. I found myself going back to them until finally giving in to buying a couple to share with family. The type and shape of the buttercookies is slightly different in each box. A small bag is also available. Super-cute, bright, clean and organized. Friendly staff. I'm so glad we finally had a chance to visit.

Upon entering, we realized how hot it was inside - like uncomfortably hot to the point where I got overwhelmed and just needed to get out of the shop. Before I did, I bought 2 packs of their Danish Haribo gummies that I had never seen or heard of before - we brought them back for a friend of ours who loves Haribo! I also noticed their massive glass counter display of Danish pastries - they looked amazing! We didn't buy anything from them since I was in a hurry to get outside, but man...did they look tasty! I did notice that they had a nice seating area in the back to enjoy your items - that is, if you can stand the heat. Staff at the counter and register were super friendly! I would definitely come back next time I am in Solvang and brave the warmth to try their pastries! Check them out!

Maybe the bakers were just having an off day, but unfortunately, almost everything we ordered was a miss--and the service didn't help. When I was looking for assistance, the employees were entirely unhelpful and seemed like they couldn't care less. One of them was completely glued to their phone with their back turned toward the lobby, while the other was just standing there picking their fingernails. It felt like we were an inconvenience just by being there. As for the food, here is the breakdown: Cinnamon Roll Bowl ($10.00): For ten bucks, I expected something spectacular. Instead, it was completely underwhelming--mostly just dense dough and not nearly enough flavor or moisture. Snickerdoodle Cookie ($7.50): A massive disappointment for the price. It lacked that signature tangy, cinnamon-sugar punch. If you handed this to me blindly, I would never guess it was supposed to be a snickerdoodle. Savory Meat Pastry: This was the worst of the bunch. It was so incredibly dry that we took exactly one bite and had to throw the rest in the trash. Ham & Cheese Croissant: This tasted bizarrely off. Instead of a savory ham flavor, it tasted like it was stuffed with old, stale turkey. Æbleskiver Balls: These are supposed to be light and fluffy, but they were completely dried out and tough. Paying premium prices for bakery items is fine if the quality matches, but between the awful service and food that tasted like it had been sitting out for days, I won't be back. Lesson learned always check the yelp reviews before trying something new. We don't have any pictures poultry

Then, leaving town the next morning, I swung by for the treats to bring home. The place itself is light and open, and well decorated with display cases to the front and the order counter off to one side. I ordered all-new flavors for myself, including lavender honey, pistachio raspberry, strawberry rosé, blueberry lemon, maple bacon, and s'mores. At home, we had a tasting fest, and strangely, much to my chagrin, the s'mores were the LEAST favored! They were described as dry and not tasting "s'morey," and the kids didn't like the "burned marshmallows." So, the s'mores, of which I bought four, sat relatively uneaten save for some nibbles on the edges here and there. The next least favorite was the maple bacon, which also went uneaten. Now, at over $4 for a special donut ($4.02), that caught my attention, but we live and learn. The other flavors were delicious and quite different! They were actually quite fresh and soft compared to the s'mores. We took our time, and even after about two or three days, they were still good. I think that my faves were the blueberry lemon, the pistachio, and the strawberry rosé. The lavender honey was also quite good, too, now that I think about it, so I guess my favorites were all the ones other than the s'mores and maple bacon. In any case, always good to try new things, and with the special flavors here, you will have a chance to do that.
