We were celebrating our 41st Wedding Anniversary and decided to eat at Gramma's because it was recommended to us. I ordered a steak, medium well, my husband ordered a hamburger. The steak came out with the juices bloody and my husbands hamburger tasted like old grease. The recooked the steak...which was better. However, the baked potato was very old and the Brussels sprouts tasted like they had been cooked for a LONG time. We were both sick when we got back to our hotel room! I just wanted to let you know, your staff is incredibly rude. We came in with a group this morning (13 of us) & and from the moment we walked in every staff member seemed bothered. You are holding a table for 45 min for people that aren't even there & wouldn't seat us. We would've been almost done by the time those people would've arrived. It would've sat half the party. Never have I been treated so rudely by staff. I will not be back. There is a way to ask people to go outside or to wait for tables but to treat us like we are a bother instead of customers is wrong. read more

A total gem of a place nestled in Cascade! I stopped in with my husband on our way back to Boise from McCall this morning. It was just what we needed to get us ready for the long road home. Delicious, piping hot coffee and they keep it coming, so no complaints there from this caffeine lover. Plus, the friendly and attentive staff truly make you feel welcomed & comfortable. I ordered biscuits and gravy which were top notch. Nice big chunks of savory sausage swimming in thick, creamy gravy atop the fluffiest of biscuits. My husband went for French toast with a side of bacon which he said was delicious. We will be back next time we head up this way! read more

I love Grandma's. When you're up in the mountains, all you want is a good classic American breakfast. The staff here is great and this place has been around for forever. We were on our way to McCall on a Sunday & stopped here to eat. It was packed, but we waited to see what all the fuss was about. It's a nice little breakfast place (I'm sure they serve other meals, too). We did the typical breakfast fare, eggs, sausage, pancakes and everything was fine. It was good. Grammas was the only resturant that I could eat at due to food allergies and it was perfect. The prices were really reasonable and the food was YUMMY. My ex-husband, his wife and their 2yr old along with our daughter celebrated her sweet 16th birthday there and it was great. We're visited our daughter because she's away in Cascade for school and we were not rushed out (celebration lasted 3hrs). I ate there a total of 4 times and only 1 staff member wasn't too friendly. Everyone else, was. The staff person working 6-9pm on April 11 was AWESOME. She had about 7 tables at 1 time, was friendly and pleasent to everyone and even had toys for the little guy. Been here a few times and my experiences have been okay. Going in the morning or brunch/lunch you're sure to have quite a bit of wait time since it seems to be their busiest times of the day, so expect service to be slow. Once the morning and lunch crowd have disappeared, their service is much better. Their food is okay. It's actually the best of its kind in Cascade, considering that there are only three other restaurants in town. In the mornings I usually get omelets, which are almost the same as any other place. For lunch I've had the ground beef with mushrooms/onions and gravy and boy was it delicious. Overall, it's a small town restaurant with hot, homemade food. read more

Stopped here on the way back from McCall...big mistake! Our food was cold and the blueberry pancakes tasted like they were cooked on the same griddle as onions were. The blueberries in them also tasty moldy! Had to send my whole back ! Oh and the hair in my eggs was a bonus! My husband and son both got the chicken fried steak and both said it was gross! I read the reviews here when we were traveling, and decided to try it out despite them. Not too much to choose from in this area (especially if you are starving). A bit like a hole-in-the-wall, with a homey small-town atmosphere which I liked, including the quaint decorations similar to what you'd see at grandma's house. Unfortunately that was the best part. We ordered omelettes, but we probably waited about 25 minutes for them to arrive, and they were okay (actually, I was ordered a meat-lover's omelette, but received what I think was a Denver omelette instead, but after waiting so long, there was no way I was going to send it back since I was faint from hunger by that time). Coffee was decent, except the server never returned to refill our cups. Overall, think "Denny's" but without the commercialism (which is a good thing!). If we are out that way again, we'll stop by... because we know what to expect and it wasn't horrible. read more

After getting back from our camping trip in Cascade this weekend, I was curious about what others thought of Gramma's. I'm shocked that there are so many great reviews. In fact, I had to recheck to make sure there weren't two restaurants by the same name in Cascade. I'm not gonna get into great detail but I will say our tweeker waitress with the huge cold sore on her lip lost several customers. She was so high she couldn't remember her customers. People walked out left and right. We had plenty of time to watch and look around as our lunch took a good hour to arrive. We notice how filthy the restaurant was. Carpet had many years of spilled food. Windows had smashed flies tables were sticky, etc... Food was very average, but seriously didn't taste all that great after everything else we observed. Very slow service, charged incorrectly and prefer to only wait on local customers. We stopped in for lunch and the restaurant had a few customers seated and eating. After several minutes we were seated, while waiting for order to be taken (about 15 minutes) several others were helped and orders placed that arrived after we did. after about an hour our food finally arrived. 3 other local customers who arrived after we had, finished their meal and had left. First off, I wanna start by saying the service was great. Our host was very kind and offered great hospitality. But the FOOD, wasn't like anything I'd had before. It was terrible. I've never written a review, simply because I never felt the need to, but I truly feel like this deserves one. I ordered the French toast with a side of biscuits and gravy and my boyfriend ordered the Grandpas Breakfast. My French toast was so bland and dry I couldn't even figure out how it got to be that way! When I make French toast at home I only use eggs and bread and mine still tasted better (and that says a lot). I could've used all the syrup that was on the table and it still wouldn't of made it any better. Despite this, I had a few bites because I didn't want to seem rude. I then tried my biscuits and gravy, which looks WAY better in Yelp pictures. The biscuits were okay but the gravy might as well have been jello. My boyfriends meal included country fried steak, two eggs, and hash browns. The eggs were undercooked and the steak looked like it'd been old and microwaved. I should say we're total foodies and rarely leave a restaurant unsatisfied, but as soon as we got back we'd both been sick. Lastly, I decided before I left since I wasn't satisfied I'd take a cinnamon roll for the road. The lady throws it in the microwave to heat it up, brings it to our table, and mind you I'm excited because you can never go wrong with a warm cinnamon roll! The cinnamon rolls "icing" WAS YELLOW. The consistency of the icing resembled cottage cheese, clearly an old roll with old icing. PS: the pictures on Yelp make this place look great and trust me, we were both excited to try. The kids menu really doesn't offer any healthy options. If you want fried food and the indigestion that comes with it, this is the place to be. This is my 2nd review of this place in Cascade, Idaho. There were 5 of us who were seated and given water. Then, we waited about 15 minutes to order and were totally ignored. No server would make eye contact or even tell us they would be with us. Sooo, we walked out. I asked the cashier/server what we did wrong and she replied, "Oh, we were just busy". Now, there were only 2 tables with patrons and both tables had been served. We are shocked that they did not wait on us as we are Japanese. That could be the only reason as we were not smelly and have plenty of money to pay for any meal there. The other interesting thing is, is that 2 in our party are Japanese and from Cascade and have eaten there before, but with white friends. Anyway, please do not here as they are racially biased. I first visited Gramma's over 15 years ago when I first moved to Idaho with a friend and it was great. Ever since then, I've gone and it's always good. This weekend we were staying in Donnelly and went both of the days on our vacation. Sometimes the food comes out a little slow depending on how busy they are but they service is great and the food is always excellent. Highly recommend Gramma's Potatoes which are hash browns with onions, mushrooms, peppers and cheddar cheese served with salsa and sour cream with a biscuit or toast. Their biscuits and gravy are also amazing. The biscuits are fluffy and large with great flavor. The gravy is rich and has no flour taste. read more

I'm visiting Boise from Colorado. Myself, son and his wife and three little ones stopped at Gramma's on the way home from sightseeing in McCall and we couldn't be more delighted with this little diner. Everyone was pleased with their choices. I got the Benny Biscuit Bowl and it was so good and rich with a hungry-sized portion...had to take half of it home. The staff was attentive without hovering and the seating was comfortable for our group. I recommend the German Potato soup! read more

The reason for the 3 rating was for service....young waitresses did not seem to care about anything, no personality, like she was just working there and cant wait to go home. Older waitress on site seemed much more personable, but she wasn't our waitress. Also, it took forever to get our food and it was only moderately busy, but by no means packed, lots of empty tables, so would assume we would not have a long wait.
