As a music lover, I found this very aesthetically pleasing. They have a lovely bar where you can sit and have a drink. This used to be Pho Grand apparently, as there were tons of "best of" plaques around the front, with that name, from the 90's-00's. The place was packed but the wait was only 5 minutes on a 15 minute quote. The food was delicious and came out quick but the portions felt more like tapas+. Also, many customers were sharing multiple dishes. The pho has a heavy cinnamon & cardamom flavoring, almost too much. I had the curry and it was great but again, it wasn't a bowl with a mound of rice, it was a nicely plated portion with some rice. I would've paid a few more bucks per dish to get a little more but also we probably would've just gotten an app to share to make up the difference. Good find while on vacation. read more

Was excited to try the re-opened Grand Bistro, as we always loved Pho Grand, but were so disappointed. We ordered spring rolls and summer rolls to start and then bowls of pho. The pho seemed rather skimpy for the price and was just okay. Usually there's an abundance of noodles and decent amount of toppings. I don't usually eat large portions, but even I felt the portions left something to be desired. I stopped by grand bistro on a Thursday evening with some friends. They were quite busy, and we waited for around 25 minutes before getting seated. Service was fast and our server was very nice and attentive. We ordered the chicken wings as an appetizer, which were very nicely sauced and crispy. I got the vermicelli noodles with charbroiled pork (bun thit nuong cha gio). Portion size was pretty decent, and there was a good ratio of vegetables, pork and egg roll to the noodles. Some of my friends ordered the pho, which they enjoyed-- however, they did wish there were some more noodles (there was a lot of broth left over). The broth was very flavorful as well. The restaurant interior was pretty small but didn't feel overly crowded. Overall a fun place to stop by and it seems like the neighborhood is very excited for this new-old restaurant! Most of the time we get the phone and of all the pho I've had at many restaurants theirs is always my favorite. Long wait. Wasn't a fan of what I got. Probably took two bites of it. When the server finally check on us (only came to the table one time overall besides the order) I told him he could just throw it away. I didn't want a to go box. He decided to send the owner to my table. The owner came over to ask what was wrong with the dish. I just said I wasn't a fan. He informed me they wouldn't be taking it off my bill. I didn't ask for that regardless but what an odd way to treat a customer. He also told me everyone loves the dish and insinuated I was the problem. It's nice to have this Vietnamese restaurant open again. It's very similar to its predecessor Pho Gramd, but prices are a little higher and some of the menu items taste a little bit different. They have a bar now and some good signature cocktails. I enjoyed the Vietnamese espresso martini. I had the Vietnamese pork chop with egg cake. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. We shared spring rolls. The shrimp was a little smaller than it used to be and the noodles were kind of loose. They weren't quite as good as I remembered. Overall, we enjoyed the food. It's a first come first serve situation even with a party of two and they don't seat you until your party is there. I understand for parties of four or more, but it was a little frustrating for two of us. Especially when there wasn't a line when I arrived and there were plenty of tables. We were early birds. Pho Grand is awesome and I have nothing bad to say about their food, service etc, but because other attempts have failed I am leaving this here. Pho Grand has two phone numbers on their website, one is disconnected and the other is the phone number to a saxophone store in Saint Louis. We've made several attempts to contact Pho Grand about this issue, but have only been met with denial and an overall dismissive attitude. As someone who regularly answers phone calls at this saxophone shop, I can say first hand it is causing a lot of confusion for their customers, not to mention disrupting a reputable business needlessly. read more
