The food was okay and the atmosphere was charming. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place if you want to enjoy a slower meal with company. I went with two friends on a Sunday at 9am and the whole experience felt rushed from the beginning. I do think this was partly because you do not have a dedicated server which sounds nice in theory. We were asked if we were ready to order multiple times, by multiple people in just a few minutes. My friend was then asked if they could clear her plate at least 10 times because she was not actively eating. By the last time it was almost comical and she ended up apologizing to the server and asked for a few more minutes as she is a slower eater and takes breaks. This is an adorable brunch spot with lots of character!! We visited here with some friends and were glad they got a reservation. The restaurant was packed and had a line (for good reason)! Once seated, our server checked on us frequently and listed their specials soundly. I opted for the sandwich special of the day, the Monte cristo, and my partner got one of the Benedict's. Overall rating 3.5/5, even though I can't give half stars here on Yelp. One star for ambiance/vibes. This is a gorgeous, quaint little eatery in a lush area of Saint Louis County, right near Grant's Trail. One star for service. My server was a kind lady who made sure I was always doing well and kept my water glass topped off. One star for going above and beyond--I ordered gooey butter cake as a sweet treat and apparently whomever cut the slices made them too small so they gave me two but only charged me for one. Half a star for the gooey butter cake and espresso martini. Neither was the best instance of either I've ever had but they were the best part of the actual meal. Unfortunately, I think I made the wrong entree choice. I went with the biscuit (singular) and gravy and a side of sausage links. The biscuit is described as "jumbo" but didn't feel much bigger than what I'd consider a regular-sized biscuit. It also wasn't nearly as fluffy as I would have liked and was quite tough and hard at points, nearly requiring the use of a knife to cut it. The gravy was relatively flavorless and wasn't improved much by either salt or pepper. The sausage links were passable. Fast service, we had our name on the list but chose to sit on the patio on a cool morning. They had plenty of heaters so not a big deal. Actually we got warm! 2 servers working all the tables so plenty of attention and food was fast!! I also love to pay at your table with the server and machine. Patio was nice. Kind'of on the outskirts of town and near some pretty parks and farmland. I really liked the quieter location and views from the back patio while we ate. They're also dog-friendly and let people's dogs on the patio. I love that they have a rotating Avocado toast on the menu and the day we were there it had brisket and sounded delicious. The host was accompanied by his son an obnoxious brat of maybe 10 who keep pretending to throw a drink in our face while we were waiting for a table. The second time I told him how rude he was being and my husband reached out and touched him with his cane. Dad (the host) said he hit him but actually he touched him to say stop. This was my second time being here. The food is wonderful! My husband got the Texan benedict. I didn't care for it, BUT I recognize that it was a great dish. They had a caramelized onion apple jam on top of the benedict which was phenomenal for what it was, it just didn't strike my fancy. I got the waffle special and it was blueberry lemon. The last time I came it was a raspberry compote with a pistachio crumble of some sort and I almost DIED from happiness. The tartness was perfection, and the pistachio topping rocked my world. The blueberry lemon was good, but I love things ridiculously tart and didn't taste the lemon through the blueberry like I wanted to, but that honestly is just a me thing. The gouda grits had such a pungent cheese flavor that I always seek out in "cheesy" dishes. I'm usually disappointed, but these grits do NOT disappoint. The Crestwood Barn came heavily recommended by family members. We live about 2 miles away, so we decided to finally step in for lunch. The Barn closes at 1:30 daily and you can have both breakfast and lunch from open to close. This place is very charming. This is an older "barn" but it's such a cute atmosphere and there's tons of seating and decor. The service was excellent -- we didn't have a singular server but everyone who checked on us/took our order was extremely friendly & helpful. The food was really good. I got a Half & Half (with an Egg Salad BLT Sandwich & a cup of Loaded Potato Soup). It was delicious. Whoever thought of an Egg Salad BLT deserves a medal.
