For context, I often find myself driving between San Francisco and Fresno. On one articular trip,…read moreI was craving prime rib (which happens every two weeks or so). I asked my favorite llm where I should stop by for prime rib going from Fresno to SF. It at first suggested I make a bee like for house of prime rib in sf, which I like but have been to many times. It then suggested house of beef and I'm so glad it did (cattleman's in Livermore was also a 3rd choice but I've been there several times too). Thankfully it was Fri eve and they had prime rib. I like mine rare and it was perfectly cooked, very marbled, huge, well seasoned and delicious. I pared it wth au jus and mashed with gravy. Then, what reminded me to write this review, was the tri tip from the meat counter and took to go. They were nice enough to pack it in ice for my 2 hour drive. I just cooked it on my grill in the rain and this is seriously one of the best tri tips I've ever grilled up. The meat tenderness/marbling/quality is on par with any prime grade/American wagyu I've bought and the seasoning is just super on point. Looking forward to smoking the baby back ribs I picked up as well in the next couple of days but I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Seems like other reviews had issue with service but the staff were exceptionally attentive when I was there. Seriously the only thing that wasn't top notch about my experience was the cocktails(mine was totally fine but I'm a bit spoiled when I'm in SF) but for my purposes passing through I just wanted the prime rib and meats to go to be delicious and house of beef certainly lived up to its name!

Service is fast and attentive, staff is apologetic about the wait, but the waiting time was not too late or rushed. Our server 10/10 service, even gave us extra bread to take home. Salad and soup bar were excellent and everything tasted fresh. We loved the tomato soup, but didn't like the french onion dip soup. The bread was amazing, and even tasted great as reheated leftovers. The prime rib and ribeye steak were cooked perfectly to our order, but couldnt finish eating dud to being full from the unlimited bread, salad and soup bar. Garlic fries were amazing and crispy, even after reheated for leftovers. Only a few things I didn't like was when we went to get our soup and salad, they cleared the whole table. I was warming up the butter in my hands for the bread to spread on faster, but they took it away like trash when we went to grab our salad and soups. They resetted the paper towel rolls to the side of the table when we moved it to the center, and they almost took away my husband's alcoholic drink, and then realized we were still dining. The lighting was definitely way too dark. I could see elderly people slipping if there was were liquids or food filled on the floor. The space is interestingly very small for a steak restaurant, but they seem to make everything flow well. Definitely would come again, enjoy the soup and salad bar, and then maybe share a steak instead of ordering two.

The GPS took us to the old building which has a casino and bingo hall. We parked here but ended up taking the shuttle to the brand new building which was located just a couple minute drive away. If your goal is to spend your time in the new building, there's plenty of parking down on the lower lot. We signed up for the players club which came with $10 in free play, which got used up pretty quick. They have a ton of slots and a handful of card tables. The lowest minimum I saw for blackjack was $15, and definitely the most popular of the blackjack tables. I spent most of my time on the slots and while I started off hot, the casino always wins in the end lol. I racked up enough player points to get a free bluetooth speaker, which was pretty cool! The slots I had the best luck on was the Top Dollar and Huff n Puff machines. Everything else was no good for me. The Casino floor isn't huge by any stretch but does what it needs to do. They have a few restaurants on-site. The 209 sports bar was the busiest and one of the only spots to watch sports and eat. The bar on the 3rd floor had live music after 9pm and was pretty lively. I was low key very surprised at how busy it was. Overall, solid spot to get your casino fix that just so happened to be a short drive from where we are staying. Next time I'm feeling the urge to win, I definitely wouldn't hesitate spending more time here.

Heck, they all usually even have pizza and French fries if you don't want Chinese food! No hamburgers though, like Mexican places. This New King Buffet, (super common name for Chinese buffets for some reason), is located way in the back of a shopping area off East Hatch Road. Look for the Cost Less Foods store, it's back and to the right of that. Glad we had the GPS to get us here. It sort of looks a little run down and older, not one of these new fancy Chinese buffets with tons of Chinese people in line, eating strange food from tide pools, nope, more or less American Chinese here. We go in and it's actually decently large enough with all the normal selections or foods, like noodles, hot and sour soup, sweet and sour stuff and egg rolls. Lunch time so no crab out. Service is the usual Chinese efficient, just to fill drinks and clear plates is all. Everyone filled up and thought the food was decent and no complaints, so that's good. I like it doesn't take too long to do lunch here, outta here in under an hour. I hate places we end up spending 2 hours at for lunch. Buffets are good for fast lunch.

The sushi was delicious, with favorites like dragon rolls and plenty of sashimi options. The spice levels were good, and the unagi sauce was not overly sweet. The buffet offered some great options, including fried rice, noodles, orange chicken, broccoli beef, and even some decent cuts of steak. The pork buns were a surprise and were really tasty. Dessert is mostly Jell-O, pudding, and some mini spongy cakes. The mango pudding was a great refresher. Overall, it's a great lunch spot at a decent price!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon craving AYCE plus it had "sushi". We were in Modesto and thought,…read morewhy tf not... there's no KBBQ or specialty AYCE sushi around. I feel like I've upgraded from typical Chinese buffets with the weird gelatin cakes from that one specific bakery that distributes said cakes to all these low-level Chinese buffets. But sometimes I gotta return to the trenches! The inside is cute with a lot of booths and Japanese decorations. The center consists of a sushi bar with a functioning boat, chefs making rolls and putting jello onto the little floaties. The back has the standard Americanized Chinese fare. Bonus: there is a "Mongolian BBQ" station where a cook will stir fry your creation. Pricing is pretty decent considering there is more than just the hot trays of Chinese. The food itself was pretty OK. Sushi is basic to below average with huge 65-35 rice proportions, so get ready to be full fast. The sushi chefs also focused on saucy rolls vs nigiri. Because there is seating around the sushi boat, it was funny witnessing socially-unaware people go up behind people sitting there to grab a plate even though there was a huge space at the end of the island without seating to avoid this. Anyways, we ate a bunch to get our money's worth and could cross this off the list to never have to go again.
