Convenient for my craving I have no idea what I'm walking into. I will pass by this establishment on the way to my next destination, and I am very hungry with the hopes of satisfaction guaranteed. Places old it is in a strip mall there is a lot of natural lighting and the cutest little boy hanging out. I called ahead to order Carrie out. I ordered combination fried rice and even to just get brussels sprouts was two dollars so I was kind of taken back because peas and carrots were offered, and I didn't want them, but when I asked for onions instead of peas and carrots, there was no charge and I was grateful. My initial experience at Grand China was less than was not a great one. Not especially bad just not great. The food at that time was bland. Maybe it was what I ordered at that time. Regardless, that was a couple of years ago. I have since decided to give it another try. My mom was wanting Chinese and we were sort of in the area after a walk. So in we came. The restaurant was mostly empty when we came in. It was late for lunch but early for dinner. We had the place to ourselves. And it was so dang quiet. No music. TV muted. A little too quiet but at least we could hear each other. I orderded mushu chicken. I hadn't had that in a long time. My mom ordered lemon chicken. My mushu was a heaping plate. So much food with 4 pancakes to wrap it in. Very good flavor. Chicken, cabbage, woodear mushrooms, bamboo, green onion, scrambled eggs. So much good stuff. No shortage of flavor here. Now for my mom's "lemon" chicken - I think something must have gotten lost in translation. It seems she was brought sweet and sour chicken instead. She ate it anyhow. I tried some of it as well and had the rest the next day. It was really good. Nice batter on the chicken. Good sauce, bell peppers and pineapple. Even if it was the wrong dish it was still really good. Service on this visit was also good. Our waiter was friendly and kept our waters filled until we left. Grand China is redeemed in my eyes. I picked up food for take out. I ordered online. It was ready when I arrived. Inside it was quiet and empty. I got home with the food and it wasn't great. The hot and sour soup was hot, not much flavor. The pork fried rice was disgusting. It tasted like the pork was old. The BBQ beef ends appetizer was sliced beef ladened in bbq sauce. I will never return. There are too many other Chinese places, that are better, to choose from. read more

We have been here several times over the last 3 years and each time the food quality and taste has gone down hill. We opted for take out this time. We had the shrimp fried rice, it was so salty no one could eat it and had only 3 pieces of shrimp in it. Chicken mushroom is not what one is used too. The chicken looked boiled, was slimy and had no taste. The bbq ribs were tough. The picture looks like they are prepared Chinese style with five spice which we love, but they were just slathered with bbq sauce. Crab Rangoon had no flavor. We've been ordering from here off and on for at least 15 years, mostly to-go and once in a while dine in. It's always been your basic Chinese restaurant - nothing to complain about, but not much to look forward to either. But it was convenient, and always quick. Unfortunately, that appears to have changed - we haven't ordered for a while, and after tonight, definitely won't be again. I placed an order over the phone for pickup and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. My husband went to pick it up, and was home very quickly. I unpacked all the containers, and even took a couple bites before realizing it wasn't our order. It was close, because we ordered pork fried rice and pork chow mein but had received egg fried rice and a mixed meat chow mein of some sort. I then realized there was an extra dish and one that didn't match our order at all. My husband looked at the receipt and it was the wrong name. But he couldn't fully understand the man and heard "fried rice" and "chow mein" and assumed it was ours. I immediately called Grand China and was told to bring it back and exchange it for our order. Really? Because we had opened all the containers and even taken a couple bites. "Yes, really". So, I loaded it all up and went back to the restaurant where I was handed my actual order and told he can't refund me today because he didn't know how. Say, what?!!! I mean, how hard is it? We were charged almost twice as much as our order would have been, and I tried to explain to him that I was uncomfortable leaving without the refund but he just didn't get it. He even tried to blame my husband. After telling me I could get a refund in 2 days, I asked to speak with a manager. Turns out he WAS the manager! What manager doesn't know how to refund a credit card?! In the end, I left with no refund and will have to dispute it on my credit card. But that isn't as bad as the poor woman who's going to take her order home not realizing strangers had opened and tasted it. On top of that fiasco, the food was horrible. It tasted like rancid oil. It was gross. I don't understand how so many really great restaurants have gone under over the last few years, and places like this stick around for ages. read more

There was a sale on my take-out app, so we decided to try this place for the first time, instead of our normal go to place. Honestly, we were mostly happy with this place and will probably order here again, depending on what we order. First, I appreciate that we got everything we ordered, especially since it was a lot of buy one, get one stuff. I've noticed some places "forget" these items. Also, everything was packed well, therefore came at the perfect temperature, even though it was being delivered and we do not buy priority delivery. Second, there are some real hits and some real misses with the food. We really enjoyed the chow fun with beef, the veggies and the spring rolls. The egg drop soup was also pretty good, if not a bit thicker than I'm used to. The sesame chicken was basically inedible, we threw it away. It seemed to be over fried, or older and then fried again, because the nuggets were hard as rocks. Not even the sauce or sitting in a container while being driven to us could make these little pucks soggy. Same goes for the duck. We were excited to order this because we LOVE duck but a lot of fast places don't have it. This duck tasted great but it was dry af. Like, almost inedible, clearly cooked too long or old product. The honey walnut shrimp were terrible. Lots of dry, bread like, breading with little to no sauce. I did appreciate we didn't have to buy a separate order of fried rice (my mom's fave) because for a slight upcharge, you can have fried rice with your meals instead of white rice. I ended up cancelling my order and walked out. If they don't have enough people in the back to handle Christmas Orders...then don't do Christmas orders. Multiple people cancelled their orders, there were over 30 people in there waiting (10 of them I talked to were also waiting well over an hour for their takeout). Multiple people were told they didn't have their order even though the people showed them that they called them hours prior and placed the order. This happens every Christmas and they never figure out how to provide either better service or reduce the order channels to limit their intake of orders... read more

I had ordered the salt and pepper wings and I was excited at first, because the portion size was generous (8) large wings, and the seasoning was on point. Unfortunately the size of the wings were deceiving, because they were extremely fatty. I picked up a leg and went to pull apart the skin just to let some of the heat out, and fat from the skin just split completely apart and the bone opened to the marrow. Everything just melted. It wasn't just the legs that were full of fat, but also the wings. I couldn't eat them, and had to through the order away. I have been ordering food here for years and it seems to get worse and worse. Got the beef chow mein and it was not great. Mainly bc the noodles were way over cooked and mushy. The estimated pick up time was 5:23pm and I went there at 5:30pm. First they couldn't find my order but they didn't check on line orders. I ended up waiting 30 more minutes and when I got home and we separated the items, my extra item was not included. read more

Perfect!!! I have ordered take out from this restaurant for years and have always enjoyed it!! Went last night (Thanksgiving ) after a mess at the Pasta Cucina. Be careful and mindful of what you order from here. They are shady and intentionally "forget" to give you some orders. I ordered the canton family dinner, which is supposed to come with donuts and fried shrimp as is stated on their menu. Since my order was over $40, I was qualified for a free chicken chow mein entree (this is a deal they have). I confirmed with the man on the phone if I get this entree for free and he said "yes." By the time I got home, I saw that they did not give me the donuts and the fried shrimp that is supposed to be included with the dinner . These were intentionally left out because I had asked for that additional free chicken chow mein deal. Moreover, my friend who ordered the same family dinner had to confirm with them if they give the donuts. The woman's response on the phone was "hmm ok I'll give it you." So basically, unless you remind them and enumerate everything that you should be getting in your order, they will try to rip you off and purposefully not include them in your order. If my friend did not explicitly remind the woman about the donuts, she would not have gotten them. This is a real shady practice. If you list deals like free entrees customers are qualified to get, don't cheap out and purposefully take out/not give parts of their original order. Regardless of whether or not I get a free entree, I still had to pay $41 for the canton dinner, so give me the damn donuts & fried shrimp I am obligated to! Aside from this shadiness, I thought the food was overpriced and extremely small portioned as compared to other local Chinese takeout businesses. Ordered delivery from here tonight. Super fast delivery. They said about 45-50 mins and it came much faster. About 35 mins. Loved that since we were hungry. We had a pretty large order. Kung Pao beef, sweet and sour chicken, house friend rice, chicken chow mein, meat wontons, pork egg rolls, and vegetable medley. The veggie medley was soooo good. I'd highly recommend this if you like veggies. Probably my favorite of all. But every thing was very good. Sometimes with delivery the fried stuff can be soggy but none of it was. The egg rolls, fried wontons, and sweet and sour were perfect. I also liked that they separated the sweet and sour chicken, veggies and sauce so you can mix it when it arrives so it doesn't get mushy. That's a brilliant idea! I will totally eat here again!
