A lovely and welcoming place to try some tasty drinks. It's tucked away off of a Main Street/square area with ample parking. It's a super nice stand alone building. There's a stage for live music, a porch area to hang, a bar, a retail space, and a seating area. We were greeted immediately by the most friendly and helpful server. She was fantastic and explained the tasting process and all that there was to offer. The tasting is $7 and you get to pick 8 things to taste. They give you a dry & erase pen to mark them. Then, they are put in a super cute board and she labeled them with what each were. There are whiskeys, vodkas, and moonshines. They also have beer on tap and cocktails that they make using their own products. Cool place to just come and chill. The retail space offers a variety of merch, as well as jams, jellies, sauces, etc. They only had limited clearance tees. "I wanna drink a little moonshine in the sunshine of a Summer day" Erick Baker Except for it being a sunny autumn day, this was my exact thought upon discovering Grandaddy Mimm's Distilling, and that's exactly what we did. The Distillery has a great rustic feel, but with a slight grunge feel to it. The bar is front and center upon entering, with shiny bottles lined up everywhere. We were greeted right away and chose to go with their sampler, any 8 tastes for $7. Now don't get too excited, they are thimble sized, but it's a great way to find the shine you'll love. On this day there wasn't a bad on on the batch. They offer cocktails made with all of their moonshine and spirits. I ended up picking up two bottles, The first was their "Barrel Aged Shine" a limited edition, 109 proof, 2 year corn whiskey shine. It was, and I say was, because it only lasted Thanksgiving weekend, a fantastic moonshine whiskey. Perfect for a stiff old fashioned. I am tempted to make the three hour round trip to pick up another one. The second was their Sorghum Rum. I'm not sure if there's a lot of competition in the sorghum rum space, but this is definitely a winner. A very sweet sipping rum, absolutely delicious on its own or in a cocktail. I am definitely pacing this bottle to make sure it lasts until I can make it back to Blairsville. They have a stage and different events, so it would be fun to come back and hang out longer. Absolutely love the vibe here! The hosts are so warm and friendly. The drinks are amazing, they also make non alcoholic drinks upon request. Their moonshine is iconic, highly suggest the flight to decide what you like. Highly suggest trying their peppermint coffee with some cream moonshine of choice. You cannot go wrong with any of their drinks. It's great for groups or hanging alone and making new friends. They had a spontaneous music pop up when we visited so it was a whole lot more fun. My wife and I stopped in on a Friday afternoon with our 65 pound Aussie doodle. I love this place because it lets your dogs come in with you. When we arrived about 3:30 in the afternoon, the place was packed! They've got a decent selection of beer and several drinks that they make out of moonshine. There was absolutely no bourbon or whiskey available, which was a little bit disappointing to me (I was dying for an Old Fashioned). All good though. The bartender was nice. This was my first visit and it was such a great experience! I came for the Moonshine festival. This was the first year and they announced it will be an annual event. Very cool for this town & all the local businesses! I went with the tasting flight, which to my surprise was 8 flavors!! I tend to like the more girly moonshines. The 40 proof cobbler flavors. They had a lot of adorable gifts in there too. I discovered today that the owner, Tommy Townsend is also a Country music singer and recently got signed for a 3 album deal. Very great for him! Walked in Sunday afternoon, the place was empty. The service was terrible. Asked for a sample before making a choice. Drew, mentioned the beers then I asked if they sampled the different types. I asked if tho were sampled also. Then Drew responded well I've gotta charge for something. I would have made a purchase once I'd considered what was best fitting. Their new location in the city of Blairsville is great! Super cool building with plenty of space for the tastings at the bar and to grab a cocktail and chill. The tasting for $5 is well worth it! You get to try 8 of their moonshines or vodkas. All of the stuff here is good depending on what you like. The guava vodka is amazing! They are supposed to have bourbon now or soon. I dropped by randomly not really knowing what to expect after a hike nearby and was thoroughly impressed. I opted for the tasting/flight where you got to choose 8 different moonshines, vodkas, and whiskey for $6. I tried 6 different moonshines, including the Georgia Cream Pecan Roll, blueberry, and peach cobbler, the raspberry guava vodka, and peach whiskey. I highly recommend the raspberry guava vodka and the peach cobbler moonshine. Some of the higher proof stuff was a bit too much for me, but still a wonderful experience! read more

This was my first time there. We went for Music Bingo.If you go you have to get there early. You can bring snacks, card table, and chairs. I'd suggest chairs or you may not get a seat. The bar tenders are adorable and friendly. One of them can do a fantastic country dance to the song The Devil Went Down to Ga. The other ladies do entertain behind the bar. Neat place where you can taste as many of the moonshines as you would like for $5. If you end up purchasing a bottle, the $5 is applied towards your purchase. There is also a little village around the distillery with a few shops. We were there on a weekday, so not everything was open. This was a fun destination during our weekend getaway. While it was fun there is so much more potential that it's missing out on. It was like a little ghost town. Only two stores were open one of which was of course the distillery. The tasting and your was $10 each. The bartenders were a hoot and we enjoyed the tasting. We decided not to partake in the tour as it was getting close to closing time. I wasn't a fan of any of the 5 moonshines we tasted. I've had some in the past that was decent but these just weren't my cup of tea. The decor is eclectic and fun and it's definately worth a trip out. read more

They can't sell you moonshine but you can take the tour, have a tasting, and they'll give you a free bottle. Starting Sept 1, 2017, they will be able to sell 3 jars per person. The lady that gave us the tour is part family to Granddaddy Mimms and gives a great history of her family's moonshine history. The place used to be a antique museum so lots of that is still there. We had to find some Moonshine while in Georgia and I am so glad that we were able to visit Grandaddy Mimm's. The building from the outside already gives you the impression that it is going to be fun. We were lucky to visit when it was slow so we had the undivided attention of the employees. Everyone there was friendly, fun, helpful, and informative. We tried all of he moonshine that they had and each one was better than the next. Whatever you like they will have. Strong to not as strong, flavored or not flavored, there is something for everyone. You come up upon Grandaddy Mimm's Distillery so quickly you could pass it up. There are no signs telling you the distillery approaches, but a turn around is easily had. The distillery is in a riotous colored plaza with other touristy shops. Get the kettle corn in a plaza shop. It is the perfect balance of sweet and salt. Grandaddy Mimm's is chalk full of colorful paintings (don't miss the lady's room murals of Carol Burnett, Judy Garland, Audrey Hepburn and the infamous Lucy . The tasting room is large and beautiful. The bar was used in the movie Coyote Ugly. You can purchase a tasting for $5.00. Our friendly bar maid Heather suggested two people share one tasting. She is wise in this recommendation. The tasting cup is the size a of communion cup. Trust me when I say this is plenty big enough to share for two people. Here are the moonshine's you will taste. 140 proof straight moonshine, 100 proof straight moonshine, and each of the flavored moonshine are proofed at 40. Blueberry, Peach, Apple, Apple Brown Betty and Cherry. Heather was especially generous and shared a cherry that had been soaked in 140 proof. WOW, eating this was like sending a red hot coal into your belly. Sure warmed me up. The tour is unstructured and visiting on the weekend you may have the chance to see the mash being made and boiled. By the afternoon of our visit Van and Dillard had finished the hard work and gave the tour, oh and another taste of the shine condensing from the copper vats. This is a friendly and interesting stop. You can also purchase the moonshine in mason jars. read more

Went here 4 years ago with my husband for a week and this place was amazing we met Tommy Townsend and he invited us to his private New years party so we stayed an extra night and it was definitely worth it . The staff and people there were amazing and very friendly. Can't wait to December to go back for another week. Sure Hope he has a New Years party again. 2 months and counting down the days. We stumbled upon this gem by accident driving to see Blairsville this morning after hiking DeSoto Falls. What a discovery!! The moonshine was tasty and the woman that helped us (sorry I forgot your name) was so nice and helpful. When we came in, it was me and my family...no one said anything to us "hey how are y'all?"
