My sisters, my mother and I are faithful fans of this bakery. We discovered this diamond in the Crenshaw Plaza's farmer's market on Saturdays and it has been a whirlwind since then. This is one of my FAVORITE bakeries of all time. The caramel pecan cheesecake is to die for. I have been indulging in these tasty treats since she was only in the farmers market and am now ECSTATIC that there is a store that I can go to whenever I want. I just stopped by today to order a cheesecake for my birthday and I ended up getting a salted caramel cheesecake cupcake. It was a little cup of heaven. I love this place. PS - That dude that is "advertising" for Sweet Red Peach must have burned and permanently damaged his taste buds as a child, because SRP is not good at all. With black businesses struggling in this tough economy I have reservations about writing this review. If I don't, someone else will so I will be the change I want to see. I've supported this business a few times over the last 5 months hoping a change but no. 1st, the young lady working the register needs an extensive class on customer service. Her attitude makes it seem as if she is forced to work there. She hardly answers questions & she isn't friendly. I ordered a cake for a party & needed it back by a certain time. They were supposed to call me but somehow said my phone wasn't working when they called?! They honestly forgot... & didn't admit it. The last 2 cakes I bought were not from scratch. Walk in service-Good /Pre-order service-Not so Good. This place is good for walking in and buying what is on the shelves. HOWEVER, if you want to place an order for later pick up, don't count on it being ready on time. This wasn't a one time fluke, it happened on TWO occasions. My recommendation, patronize them if you are in the area and want a sweet treat. But never place a future order, especially if it is time sensitive. I ordered Rum cake on Nov.22, paid $40 , Cake was to be ready on Monday but when I went to pick up I was told it wouldnt be ready until tomorrow(tuesday) When I finally picked up the cake it was hard and crumbly with white powdery substance on outside like it had been frozen for long period of time. Bottom line I was sold an old cake. I complained about the cake and was replaced with another old pound cake with dry hardened frosting and again cake was hard and crumbly. Very delicious dessert eatery nestled in between Chase bank and a deli type shop. I've tried the Caramel Pecan cheesecake, Sweet potato pie, banana pudding, strawberry and something cobbler, pralines, caramel cake, red velvet brownie...whew! This is the good stuff. The service is really friendly and they get you with those samples, lol. I went in there to get cookies for my kids and walked away with two bags worth of goodies. The carrot pineapple sensation is divine! This is my new favorite dessert eatery and they share the spot with Sweet Red Peach! My only critic was the caramel cake was very dense and a lil too dry for my liking. My 17 year old daughter had no qualms eating it up and I wish the cream.cheese frosting on the carrot cake was lighter and fluffier but to each their own. I recently just went in this week because my Mom sent me on a quest to get lemon bars. There were no lemon bars, but I did get me a slice of the "White German Chocolate Cake". First time I had ever had that and I thought it was delicious. Granted, I lucked up and came right as it was being sliced for sale, so it was still slightly warm...and did I mention, delicious?! This bakery also has a good amount of gluten free products so I have sent people there who are intolerant to gluten. I bought the tea cakes an found them "melt in your mouth" delicious . One small thing for me though is I'm use to my tea cakes with more nutmeg because that's how my aunt made them. When I'd open the tin, the scent would make my mouth water because I knew what came next. But I understand though that the spice can be a matter of taste. Amazing Bakery! I've never experienced such a versatile bake shop. I have not been disappointed with any of their selections. For my babies baptism, I ordered a Butter Pecan Caramel Cheesecake, Peach-Strawberry Cobbler, and an Apple Cream Cheese Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. They were all great tasting. My whole family was very pleased with the desserts. My wife and Mother-in-law loved the loaf of Monkey Bread that the owner Charlene gave to us for free. I've been back to their shop three other times to try slices of their other items. This is definitely my favorite new bakery in Southern California and well worth the drive from Long Beach! I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews but I needed a German chocolate cake for my mom asap. The cake was delicious! Wow! I have not been to the shop, but they came through for us in a jam. We called in on Saturday morning and the cake was ready to be picked up before closing. Saved our cookies! And, the cake was AWESOME! We ordered a half sheet carrot-pineapple cake with cream cheese frosting with orange zest ($76). The cake was about 2" thick and was densely filled with pineapple, carrot and raisin. It was SO moist. The cream cheese frosting was clearly fresh, and the orange zest was a delightful and fresh surprise. We also tasted the pineapple coconut cake which is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! The items see brings to the market vary, but be confident that quality is always on the menu. Charlene has won awards and constant accolades for her delicate and rich Butter Pecan Carmel Cheese Cake. I have been to her booth many times in the presence of staunch Cheese cake detractors and their disposition always changes once the samples are consumed. My personal favorites are the Lemon Cake that has the ability to shame lesser yellow fruits and her assortment of pound cakes. Charlene is a confectionery conjurer that can manipulate the crumb of cake in such a way that can only be described as velveteen enlightenment. I also treasure her seasonal treats such as her Rum Balls (caution not to be eaten around open flames). Her flavor and textures wash across the palette like a master painter. Her repertoire is immense. The complete menu and whole cake prices can be found on her website; she also has sugar free options availible on request. I brought a whole Brownie Bottom Cheese Cake last Christmas and it was the first thing completely eaten from the desert table.
