I don't have much to say about this place. One thing I can say is.... hole-in-the-wall establishments will always be my favorite go to for real comfort food. I usually get the "beef" empanadas but something told me to grow up and get spicy today. And you know what? It's my new go-to for a while. It's not too spicy. Pretty good corner market, they have a decent selection if you live nearby. They have some good prices and a nice selection of fruits and vegetables. The cashiers are generally friendly and cool. They will help you find what you want and take requests. I do wish they had more vegan and plant based options, they don't sell any plant based meats separately and none of their hot food or baked goods are obviously plant based, so they lose a few customers there I think. This is a small neighborhood market that sells empanadas and sandwiches. I ordered the steak sandwich with grilled onions and jalapenos and it was really good. It tastes more like a cheesesteak than the typical Argentinian lomito sandwich. I also ordered a beef empanada and ham and cheese empanada. Unfortunately the empanadas didnt really have that much filling and for $3.xx each i thought it was too expensive. There is no room to sit so everything is to go. If I could give zero stars, I would. This establishment confirms uber pick up orders and when you go pick up the order (because the app says order is ready) they say they did not confirm it because there is a price difference. We stayed in the store to call uber eats and when uber eats called the establishment they kept hanging up on the uber representative. Uber proceeds to tell us that the establishment is supposed to refund the money and they declined to do so. I end up taking a picture of their tablet, with the order confirmations and it clearly shows our order on there with a confirmation code. They are thieves. Not only did they lie but they are very rude as they ignore you when you ask them to do something about the situation. This place also smells bad to add to the disappointment. read more

Delicious little hidden jewel of Hawthorne. I had to do about 3 u-turns before I realized I kept missing it. Out of fear of the mafia, I'm going to say that the inside was very clean and nice looking and the service was efficient (Y'all this place is JUST like Satriale's Market from the Sopranos, I promise you.. minus the cold-faced mobsters hanging around outside.. it's just cold-faced abuelas.. not sure which one is scarier lmao). So it's more of a deli/bodega type of place that serves sandwiches and other stuff but those empanadas are the crown. They have about 6 different flavors but money been tighter than Doc Rivers hairline lately so I ordered one spicy beef and one chicken. I think if I was someone who enjoys very spicy food then the beef one would probably be the favorite but I didn't really like it much. I think it is relying heavily on the "hot" instead of the flavor and that has always been my plight with spicy food. Spicy is good as long as you focus on the flavor quality of the dish. Once you sacrifice that, all you're doing is making enemies. Chicken empanada deserves a diamond ring and a red carpet show to be honest. Simply put, all of the flavors that the beef one lacked shined through here. Both of them had quality crust though. I think if they added cheese to the spicy beef to combat some of that spice, it would taste a lot better. Overall, 7.8/10 empanada spot. Since we were both at the South Bay (05/12/21), he wanted to buy a dozen for me to take home and try it out with my family. Oh my, it so soo good! Got 6 chicken + 6 beef. I like the beef better. This place is small and known for its empanadas. I think the empanadas were par-baked and they finish baking them to order so that you get fresh ones. The ordering process took 10-12 min since there was someone ahead of me and only 1 person behind the counter and another 3-4 minutes to bake once my order was placed. The spicy chicken and spicy beef were the best and spinach was my least favorite. The empanadas were reasonably priced but to be honest, I would have preferred they charge a bit more and boost the filling. The empanadas were really good. I got two dozen half regular chicken half spicy chicken, half beef, half spicy beef. The customer service was amazing. I ordered it there and received the food less than 15 minutes around like 6 to 7 minutes. Wait time the empanadas refresh and amazing. They were reasonably priced, but man were they tiny! They are definitely not an entree, which is what I was intending them to be. They are $1.99 each or you can bundle them and save. I recommend the spicy beef and spicy chicken empanadas, they are incredible. Additionally, Continental Gourmet makes some really good hot sandwiches. The steak sandwich with peppers and onions is one of my favorite things to order. Last but not least, the flan here is homemade and very tasty ($1.89 for a small personal pie or just over $5 for a larger pie that can also be personal if you try hard enough) SERVICE (5/5): Everyone here is very friendly. Oh, so you've had empanadas before you say? Yeah well, not like this. This location has a fairly large market and carne section as well as a deli section where you can order the most Delicous Argentinian empanadas in SoCal hands down. First off this location is a little off putting. With awkward parking. But I live very close to this spot so I put up with it and care no never mind about this anymore. Don't let anything steer you away from your goal. The Empanadas. Call in ahead to get a dozen or more ready. They take a few minutes to heat up and get them ready for eating immediately. So far I've had all the flavors they make a few dozen times. My fav. Is the Beef for savory and sweet is Apple when it's made since Apple isn't made very often. I get sad when it's not avail. But when it's there I order a dozen of the Apple alone. Take them home and heat them up a little add some Vanilla ice cream and bam an awesome dessert for parties or just your self ;) ****Important***** Do Not Forget The Chimichurri. This is ideal for enjoying these wonderful empanadas and kicking them up a notch when your ready for that added acidity. The Spicy beef and Spicy chicken have a tendency to be really spicy most of the time. So if you are not used to spicy food. Skip them and get the plain Chicken and Beef. Spinach is nice and creamy. Not irony tasting and really sets the mood for the meat flavors in between them. I eat a beef, have a spinach and then chicken and vice versa to break the monotony of just meat. How I do it. I call it in. A dozen mixed empanadas. I ask for Apple, if they have it I order a dozen of those as well. The Empanadas hold up very well in the fridge if you don't eat them all right away. So don't worry. On to the market section. Lots of Latin American goods including an array of Latin sodas. Very nice touch. I like to get the Peruvian cancha and fry them up at home (Peruvian popcorn) also the Amarillo pastes or other sauces and pickles to make your own meals at home. Pretty epic and very nicely priced.
