We enjoyed our breakfast/lunch during a busy time on a Saturday. The service and food were great, we didn't wait to be served and our server was good about checking on us for refills. The decor is homey with an outdoor patio that looked cool and comfy. The inside has high ceilings, it was a bit noisy but not so load you couldn't hear each other talk and no different from other restaurants with high ceilings. Not Covid Friendly. The restaurant was set up well and the service staff had masks, however the cook did not. This may not be required, but I observed the cook wipe her running nose twice with her wrist and continue cooking. In addition the sanitizer was empty. First time stopping in to grab breakfast, and also the first review I've felt the need to post. Other customers had noticed a sticky mouse trap directly underneath the booth I was seated at. There was a mouse stuck to the trap. The customers who initially noticed it were the ones who received an apology and some story a member of the staff thought up on the spot. Not impressed with the service or the way the situation was addressed, and definitely don't condone the use of inhumane traps. Won't return, and recommend others reconsider eating here. read more

This place ia one of 2 breakfast places closest to us. The food is good for diner food but it's still diner food. We have been a few times and will continue to visit for a breakfast out. We like the huevos rancheros meals... They have good homemade cinnamon buns. They also have a surprisingly wide variety of gluten free options available as well. To say poor is a compliment. The waiter tried to convince me that the grilled chicken on my "Crispy Chicken Salad" was really fried. When we asked about dessert he was totally clueless. Let's start with the good stuff. The servers work their tails off, and are always friendly, The food is pretty straight forward home cooking type of fare. Burgers are pretty good, and decent breakfast, with good bacon. The bad centers on food safety. I managed in this business for a number of years, so I have a hard time ignoring this stuff. It drives me crazy every time I watch someone take their unwashed hands into the ice cooler to fill a cup. Cross contamination all over the place!!!!! They have a scoop for ice, but nobody uses it, AND instead of putting it in a stainless pan, it usually sits on the soda fountain. Also the same for the guy in the kitchen that's got his hands all over his head before grabbing food. If you want to have an open kitchen, you had better expect to have people notice what's going on back there. They do have a hand washing sink, but in the numerous times I've been there, I have never seen anyone actually use it. I would love to make this our regular stop, but I just sit there and watch this stuff every time we go. I am not a health inspector, but for Gods safe make an effort not to get someone sick or killed. read more

We have been here twice. Once for breakfast and once again for lunch. We have decided it's a good place for breakfast so so for lunch. Jalapeño cheese burger and mushroom swiss burgers were just okay nothing to rave about. The onion rings were good the fries marginal (our batch anyway ). Probably one of the worst breakfasts I've had in a while. The server and hostess were extremely pleasant! Other than that, it was horrific. The hashbrowns were still frozen in the middle, it was very obviously the same brand you get from the supermarket. The pancakes were burnt to a crisp and cold as well. It was almost as if they burnt them set them aside for 30 minutes and then served them. The bacon was so overcooked that when you picked it up it shattered into thousands of pieces. Over medium eggs came out as over hard and the other one raw, even below sunny side up. Honestly, for a 45 minute wait in total to sit and eat and a $30 check, you're honestly better to go to a gas station then eat here. Completely disgusting food. read more

Granda's is a great hometown favorite. We are breakfast 'regulars' at Grandpa's but have had lunch and dinner there as well. The burgers are the best in town! The food is great, the prices are reasonable and the service is great. This is a local gem that must be visited! Definitely a must try it place! read more

Absolutely disgusting! The worst service I have ever gotten. The fries cane out looking like they were fried 5 days ago and then microwaved to warm up. So gross my 4year old would not even eat them. I ordered a Ruben big mistake! The bread was so hard I am surprised I didnt break a tooth. The very worst thing of it all is our waitress did not even bother to check on us. She had the cook deliver our food and I had to get up just to get a napkin. Still does not check on us till she brings the bill. And I told her we were very unhappy then shs lies to us and said she was busy in the back when we clearly saw her sitting at atable with the cook all night. To make things better we contact the owner and she said "I dont give a crap" I may have only been in the reasurant business my whole life but I have never seen or experienced this. We went on Father's Day to try and support a local business. It was awesome! They offered my husband a free beer for Father's Day (winning right there) and the food was awesome. Our kids devoured their pancakes and eggs. The juevos rancheros had tons of flavor (husband and I both ordered, but two different styles), and service was top notch. Place was packed but service was attentive and quick. A fairly large dining room, but as full as any place I've seen for breakfast at the time of day. If this is typical, it is either good or the only place in the area (it's not the latter). Menu is extensive with seven breakfast burritos, seven rancheros, and many meat options with eggs. Hay Stacker is a HUGE portion of biscuits & gravy over hash browns (a double helping). Comes in a bowl somewhere between a rimmed soup and a vegetable serving bowl! I had to take half home (half order available). Biscuits are large and tender, gravy has large pieces of sausage patty and good flavor. Wife's Berthoud omelet was fluffy with nice amount of fillings. Well, I just had a rediculous and bad experience at Grandpa's Cafe.. The waitress brought me the wrong meal TWICE. And when I had her take them back, she was extremely rude, and argued with me about what I ordered. Keep in mind, 2 other people were with me, who heard what I ordered, and that is not what she brought me. Finally, on the third try, I got the correct omelet and toast, but no hash browns. I told her that the hash browns were missing, she said very rudely, "they are coming". Several minutes later, she brought them to the table and slammed them down and walked away. But wait.. there's more.. she brought us our tabs, and mine was wrong, it was for one of the wrong orders that I had been given. I told her that she gave me the wrong tab, and very rudely she said "no, that's the right one, it says the wrong thing but it's the same price" and walked away. I do not know for certain, but I was told that she is the assistant manager. Nice way to treat your customers lady. I will not be going back. And neither will the 2 friends who were with me. Meh is an understatement. Ordered breakfast. Sipped hot coffee with anticipation of a nice, hot, mouth watering, breakfast. FAIL! The omelet looked like the chef (?) forgot their knives or they figured that everyone wanted huge huge chunks of everything (raw onion because it was cut up so large). The egg that made the omelet was dry and scorched. Not good. Omelet was ordered with a side a bacon that upon arrival was cold and burnt to the point there was absolutely not one drop of moisture left ... poor poor pig was treated with no respect. Along with the 'omelet' we ordered two eggs scrambled in butter with a side of bacon. Repeat. Eggs looked dead totally void of any softness and the creaminess expected and desired in scrambles was completely nonexistent ... need I mention the bacon again? It 'seems' like the cooks (can't use the word chef again) tortured a whole batch of bacon, set it aside to get cold and die, and then just threw those sorry pieces of 'meat' on all plates leaving the kitchen that were unfortunate enough to order bacon. I noticed as I stood up to leave that the table next to us totally avoided eating the bacon on their plates also. There is one good point :-) Our server was amazing! Adjusted our tab to match the quality of food coming out of the kitchen. Thank you so much! So, I left our server a very generous tip because he/she deserved it :-) read more

I have no idea how anyone can say this place has good food, unless you have never tasted good dining before. I have gone here a handful of times hoping it will get better, simply because I live in Berthod and we have no options here. I like the atmosphere, for a small town its very cute. The coffee is disgusting though, (I heard a waitress tell someone its folgers) and they do not have any healthy options that actually taste good, such as fresh veges. You are better off going to trailhead cafe to get quality food, a place down the street. If you want a heart attack, Fries and a burger this place is alright. Every time they give me fruit as a side its old red grapes that do not taste good or canned peaches. The vege options obviously come from a can. If you want food that is even a little health minded RUN away from this place you will be highly let down. read more

hurry in and try this place before it goes out of business. went in for breakfast today. no one will greet you at the door--one of the three waitresses will yell across the room--sit wherever you want! our waitress acted like she really didn't want to be there. there were only 5 or 6 customers in the whole place when we finally got to place our order, but it still took over 15 minutes for our breakfasts to arrive---cold and or burnt. had to send the french toast back--burnt on 1 side, so they tried to hide the bad side against the plate hoping we wouldn't see it. in the restaurant business you only have two things to sell-----good food and good service. we got neither today. won't be back read more

Service was good; coffee and omelette were mediocre at best. I had the Garden Omelette and the mushrooms weren't cooked at all and the cheese was not melted but was still in a big square sticking out of the eggs. Maybe it's just me because the tables were full by the time we left. read more

What an odd experience. So this was our first time at Grandpas. The food was pretty good. Nothing amazing but solid (really liked the crispy bacon). The service on the other hand was not great. Our waitress must have hated me in another life, because for seemingly no reason at all she was constantly rolling her eyes at anything we said or asked. For example one of the sides is "mini cakes" to which my wife and I assumed where pancakes, but since we have never been here before we asked. What are the mini cakes? Pancakes? Her response was to roll her eyes and make us both feel like idiots for asking. Next simple question: my meal came with 4 half prices of toast and one individual smuckers pack of jelly. Not enough for all the toast. I asked "may I please get some more jam" her response roll her eyes walk away and rudely come back and place more smuckers packs down on the table without saying anything. ???
