While visiting Boulder, a friend suggested we meet for breakfast at PJs. It turned out to be a great suggestion. The food is delicious and the portions are large. My wife and I had breakfast burritos--delicious. Our friend got the Cowboy--two eggs sitting on a mound of hash browns. Also delicious. The service was great. There's plenty of free parking. The food was great! My boyfriend and I went around 11-12 PM on a Friday, and it seemed quite steady. Didn't have to wait long for food at all. I got the Black Betty Burger! It was great, it had perfect amount of peanut butter and amazing with the Jam and Chille. Our server was Kyle, his energy was great, super genuine and sweet! The hubs and I came here for brunch with friends. We got here in the perfect time before the place got completely packed. Our server, Kyle, was awesome. He had a ton of energy, super attentive but not overbearing and just all around really pleasant. I went with the smashed avocado toast with an over medium egg on top. It was a solid representation of this dish; not the best and not the worst I've had. The hubs got the chilaquiles with scrambled eggs, turkey sausage and Christmas chili. So, I'm not sure if I want to return.. I kinda want to return because of Kyle helping us with Allergy request & Courtney with her friendliness and the food being good! We are more set on not returning based on having to see a young gal named Lacy. The power of one person, and their attitude. We were not allowed to come into the establishment with outside cup of coffee, because we were not planning to come into the restaurant, so it was either we through the cups away, or sat outside, we humbly chose to sit outside.. asked lacy if I could put my coffee in a cup, her answer was "ehhh" like rude, snotty, but more on the side of, how dare you not buy a cup of coffee here... I would of payed to use the cup if that made her happy... Anyways we are from California, and since coming into Colorado, it's like they know we are not from here, and we've been treated like Garbage.. maybe it's the people, which I don't want to believe because Courtney was very graceful, even with the policy, we did not get offended with anything she stated, we felt okay about it, but Lacy is a good example of what snotty behavior we've received.. What you have is a policy, one that is placed because of revenue, "you want your patrons to buy your drinks", which is great, but just say that, instead of making up a lie, alcoholic drinks are not allowed in any establishments, non alcoholic are at the discretion of the owner, and that is Colorado Health Code Per Website. Pam, don't tell me you don't take your own drinks in the local theater or mall, behave, it's about money. Just wanted to clarify. And it wasn't misunderstanding, Lacy was rude, straight rude. Originally went to the Brunch House but they had a wait of about 40 minutes and their front of the house person wasn't great at managing the line. They kept offering people the patio, but no one wanted it. We said we would take the patio but were told it would still be 40 minutes . So we came to PJ's diner instead. First time here. Great experience! There was only about a five minute away to get seated. Got the biscuits and gravy. They were fantastic. Gravy was thick and the biscuits were slightly sweet. Wonderful neighborhood brunch spot. They have plenty of patio seating, and nice inside space. The wait staff is super friendly, and helpful. We ordered an tasty omelet, huevos ranchero, and carne asada papas. They have both green and red chili or you can do Christmas which is a mixture of both. This was a good spot! Went here this past Thursday for breakfast and was very happy. Place is nestled inside a strip mall and once inside very clean with a unique Colorado ambiance. Service was really good as well and my server was fantastic. Food was very good as well..:the breakfast burrito I had was huge and this thing was packed full of eggs, potatoes and their signature bacon. Then smothered in their green chili sauce. PJ's is a very pleasant whole wall, located in a strip mall. It doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is, a small diner. I had the "Taos", which was a mound of hashbrowns covered with green chili, turkey sausage, and smothered in a green chili sauce, but I had it " Christmas" . I was thoroughly heartened that they knew what that meant( both red and green chili, phrase not found nor appreciated anywhere outside of New Mexico). The green chili sauce was OK, but the red chili sauce was sharp and tangy and brought back memories of my New Mexican childhood, very good. The quantity of food was prodigious, and a very good value. My wife had the biscuits and gravy, which she said was adequate. I tasted it and found the gravy pretty good. She had had the biscuit griddled, that probably was a mistake. That being said, the server took back the order and didn't charge us for it. My wife, then ordered just a plain biscuit, which was exceptionally good. The service was prompt, friendly, and the food arrived at our table within the time it takes to fry an egg. Overall, I'd say PJs is a find, and if I lived around here, I would go back. This place was a gem of a find on my family's recent trip to Boulder for a wedding. It was so good that we went there for breakfast both days we were in town. We are from New Jersey, so we know a great diner when we see one and PJ's delivered the goods. The menu has a New Mexican influence to it, which I personally love, because I will eat green chile sauce every chance I get. I also have a weakness for chilaquiles, so that was my obvious choice on day 1. It was incredible! We got a few of their biscuits on the side and the homemade strawberry jam was perfect & their cold brew was strong and delicious. The servers were all amazing too. Friendly, helpful, cheerful...amazing. We had big parties both days of 10 and 13 people, and the whole team was super professional. I could go on and on, but stop reading and get there quickly; meanwhile I will be hoping and waiting for PJ's to open a location in NJ. read more

The food was very disappointing. My omelet was a couple of eggs fried hard folded over a handful of peppers missing the bacon and cheese promised. The scant portion of home fries made me think they ran out of potatoes. You'd think a crappy meal would be cheap. And you'd be wrong. The seating outside was nice and we were able to find a table quickly at 10:00 AM on a Monday. The one saving grace was the service. Kyle was truly outstanding, speaking clearly, there when you needed him and not when you didn't. Breakfast is an easy meal to make good. PJ's blew it. Great place for breakfast! Service is efficient and very friendly, the food is good and comes fast. Portions are huge, but for some of them you can order a half. PJ's Diner is located in the Safeway shopping center, so parking is easy. The atmosphere feels a little like a diner, nothing overly impressive, but comfortable. There was a small line on a Sunday late morning when we visited, but it went fairly fast and it's nice that they offer free coffee while you wait for a table. My chorizo omelette was yummy with plenty of meat and my daughter's plate (the "Hillbilly") came with thick slices of delicious bacon. We each had enough for another breakfast at home! I've eaten here a few times now and have had a good Express each time. The service has always been extremely friendly and helpful each time I've left, they've asked if I'd like a to-go cup for coffee which is always appreciated. I'm from Florida, but in the area frequently for work. This has become my go-to breakfast joint before work in Broomfield. My first trip here is when I decided the place is worth repeating. I ordered something called the "Hillbilly" eggs, muffin, county gravy piles on a plate for breakfast goodness. One of the few breakfast plates that I've been unable to finish....in all honesty, it was a bit too much. It certainly was not a "light" breakfast plate, but it was very good. The restaurant itself is in a shopping center and has a diner feel to it inside. Not much to look at, but seating is plenty of space. Overall, great place....great food and great people. My hubby got the Huevos Rancheros w/ green sauce and chorizo. I got the "boring" (my words!) Basic w/ scrambled eggs, bacon, and griddle biscuit w/ the peach chile jam. Now - I thought the eggs were a bit dry but the hash browns, bacon and biscuit were great. The jam was good and the hot sauces they brought to the table were fabulous.
