Needed a cheese burger and beer early afternoon Sunday. Walked through The Fountian which had the bar area packed with what appeared to be a club or reunion of some type, the rest of Fountain was basically empty so I went next door to Graney's. Packed with football fans but found seat at bar. Bartender was very prompt and professional, burger came out as ordered, the standard side of homemade mac salad was good to very good. Generally great crowd watching the games but ( and maybe I'm getting to old to out) one guy went into a redundant f-bomb rant each time his teams defense failed, like every time the Giants got a first down! Seemed to be looking for fight or he is a regular and everyone ignores his schict. But I got the sense that Graney's has a anything goes policy, not sure but the next time I eat here will be mid-day and hope not to encounter ahole's with no self control. read more

Honestly, I have been to this spot multiple times. But the last is the reason why I am yelping. I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap which I was craving for hours. It was finally time to bring this bad boy home and I open up my to go container and there it was, just a box of lettuce and a few pieces of chicken. No wrap, no fries, nothing. Ahh the old local hangout... Hottest bartenders in Albany (hell one was even in Maxim) and 2 dartboards along with a great menu and good selection of beer make this the place to be if you're in albany med/law or just a guy who lives in pine hills. Well, after reading the reviews it all makes sense. Garbage food and garbage service. Ordered $150+ of delivery and gave a $20+ tip. The food was less than sub par. Is that redundant? Yep. And accurate. The lettuce in the salads were far from fresh and borderline rotten. Motz logs were bland. Small soup container was filled half way at best. Dressing leaked all over one of the bags. As for the rest of the food, nothing worth going back for. The worst part is that I contacted them privately and they obviously don't care. No response. That's fine, plenty of great food in Albany. The wings are very good, some of the best in town. Add an order of sweet potato fries and it's an excellent night. The layout is good, with a clear demarcation between the bar and sitting areas, with plenty of televisions with diverse programming. I like their beer selection as well. It's a great location in a nice suburban neighborhood. In summer, there is nothing quite like sitting on the sidewalk watching the world go by. Only once have I been there when someone in the bar got rowdy, and the staff handled it exceptionally professionally and without fuss. Waitress very nice but not a wizard. We had to ask for silverware and napkins twice. Menus had food on them. Food service very very slow and it wasn't busy. I wish I could rate them higher but I won't be back. read more

We had high expectations since it said they had 4.2 stars, but things changed FAST. The waitress was nice but didn't seem to care about checking on us or asking us if we needed a refill on our drinks. The chef came out from the kitchen TWICE & yelled at a customer which was awkward to witness. I ordered the Mexican wrap & it was disgusting (tasted like a sour cream wrap). My boyfriend ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich & it tasted funky. This place & the service sucks. Save your time & money. read more

Unassuming storefront. College bar feel inside. Major surprise!! Food was delicious!! Wings crispy and tasty - teriyaki awesome. Burger really good with a homemade feel. This place is spectacular. Their food is good and their Monday Nights are great. Trivia Nights Live helps provide entertainment with their trivia. There is nothing like grabbing an order of their mozzarella logs, and playing trivia. The wait staff is friendly, and the place is very friendly. I will visit there many more times. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for a few beers and lunch. It was nice outside so their wasn't many people there. I asked the bartender if they had drink any specials? She informed me No, really? It would only make sense to have some type of special going on seeing though it would try to draw people in a nice cool bar on a hot/humid day. Not here though. Wasn't too pleased with their draft beers selection so I opted for a Sam Adams Light bottle. For lunch I order just a plain old cheese burger with fries. Pretty damn good burger as bar food goes,really good flavor. The fries were equally as good. Would I come back...maybe, nothing really stands out about this place and beers here aren't the cheapest. read more

Food fair, service for a problem they created? Not so good. Was here while interviewing for a hospital's program. They put up brand new wet paintings on the wall today, with NO signs of wet paint in the room. Of course, our party sits down, and then the manager comes to warn us. Of course it's splotched all over my neighbor's shirt and jacket - and smeared on my shirt. Thought I might be able to wash it out, but by the time I could get back to washing it definitely would've soaked in. I approached the manager stating that I was on an interview with a brand new shirt (that cost $60) and asked if anything would get it out - mentions club soda and then states that he found out earlier today when he got paint on his own shirt. 1) If you got the paint on your own shirt earlier and cared about your RESERVED party, would you line their table against the paintings AND still not put a wet paint sign? 2) Would have appreciated an offer to dry clean it, or even to give me club soda on the spot so I could get it out. Other places that have spilled things on me recognize the mistake and offered to clean it - here was not a sympathetic ear, no "sorry it's our fault for not putting up a sign..." Left with a bitter taste and will definitely recommend the program not to use this place again. The pizza was good, but not worth the extra $60 that could've easily been prevented. p.s. just noticed another review with problems for the service. sad. read more

Really enjoyed the atmosphere on a Friday night. We tried three bars close together on New Scotland and Graney's was just what we were looking for. Great food, good prices, a pitcher of Naughty Nurse for $13, couldn't complain about anything. And the Fried Ravoli???? Perfect pub fare! Will definitely go again! read more

The waitress was less than attentive, she took our order then was fooling around with the other workers before she went to put the food into the POS. She forgot what we ordered and brought us the wrong food, we asked for our soup first and she didn't bring it at all. She left the bar and her tables unattended for more than 20 minutes so we put money on the table and left. She made no effort to fix the situation and it seemed that frankly she didn't care. My husband and I are in our 60's. We are restaurant owners and own several, established restaurants in Florida. My brother in law is battling cancer and "Graneys" was recommended by the medical staff of the hospital. Upon entering, we were created by a young lady with tattoos. Judging by the crowd, we were in a college bar. She told us we could have a seat where we liked and she would be right over. I am very critical of other establishments, being an owner myself. It is very cold in there, but maybe That's NY weather! The waitress with the tattoos came over and took our drink order and explained the specials. She was sweet and very funny. She even offered my husband a small sample of a beer he wanted to try. We had wings and burgers based on her recommendation. The food was amazing. Great wing sauce and our burgers were cooked perfectly. But what really made it was the staff. The waitress interacts with all of the tables. She seems to genuinely enjoy her job. There is nothing worse than having someone wait on you who is miserable or in attentive.my husband asked the group of young people next to us her name (I still can not remember it but the group of people said that she was their favorite and that if we come in again we should try the fries in the wing sauce). I joined this yelp website purely to let the owner of this establishment know what a wonderful time we had. Especially having gone to it, being skeptical and feeling out of our element. I live close by and I love this place. The bartenders are super friendly and always willing to put on a game you really want to watch. Good selection of bar food as well as great nightly specials. I have been responsible for college basketball post game food orders for three years and for two different colleges. This was one of the worst experiences I have had. I called the restaurant the night before the game, and I was told that I could call in the order over the phone the next day. When I called the following day to place the order, I was told that I would have to place the order online through grub hub. Why was I not told that when I originally called the night before? When I received the food and began passing it out, I noticed that we were not given any utensils or napkins. Keep in mind we had players who ordered wings, and we had multiple orders of coleslaw...Are we supposed to drink the coleslaw? There is also a button on grub hub that says "Spare me the plastic ware And napkins. I'm Trying to save the earth." I purposely did not press the button because I knew we needed utensils. When I called back in hopes of the restaurant delivering us some utensils, I was told that I need to specially request utensils and napkins and that they were too busy to deliver us utensils and napkins. So now we have 14 basketball players with sticky fingers from eating boneless wings and coleslaw with their hands. LASTLY, as I am eating my chips, there is a nice long piece of hair attached to a chip. The icing on the cake. read more

The atmosphere here is pretty chill. Every Monday is trivia night and every Tuesday is wing night ($4.99 for 10 wings with purchase of a drink). The service here isn't the best (depending on which bartender/waitress you get), but I do love the food. Their prices are reasonable, but I only ever over their wings or the pizza fries. Despite coming here on a weekly basis for years due to its convenient location and friendly wait staff, we had an extremely unpleasant interaction with the owner, who appeared intoxicated. Stopping by to pick up friends on our way somewhere else, we decided to wait for them to have one more drink. Several members of our party were considering ordering food, too, when the owner came over and decided to berate us because one person had a to-go container of food from somewhere else. Instead of asking politely, he condescendingly pointed at several members of the group and made us very uncomfortable, shouting, "Isn't that wrong?". I can only imagine in a different restaurant, if this was a problem, an employee could politely ask a guest to remove the to-go container elsewhere. I would have been happy to comply if I knew this was against the bar's policy. Apparently, salad is worth getting that upset over? read more

My favorite spot in Albany!! Every time we go it's AMAZING food! It may look like a dive bar but the food is anything but that. Spinach artichoke dip is the best I've ever had, mozzarella logs with raspberry sauce is delicious! Every time I go I get the buffalo chicken wrap for my meal because it's the best!! I never had a bad experience with graneys and if it wasn't for my love of cooking I would eat here everyday based on the customer service alone. I had to visit several times to make sure it wasn't just a one time thing. Every time I call to place my order it sounds like the same girl that always answers and she always sounds bubbly over the phone and very helpful. I think it's the same girl that gives me my food when I go to pick it up as well. Every time she sees me she compliments me on my hair, makeup, or something I'm wearing. Seems small but it means a lot because I work in the food industry I know how frustrating it could get and I've never seen her in a bad mood. Next time I'll get her name, but other than the great customer service my food is always delish and you get a pretty decent portion of fries that I can never finish. I only ate in once, but sports bars aren't really my thing. For people who love sports though this is the spot for you, there are so many tvs and you can watch whatever game you choose. read more
