An excellent experience from start to finish. We were hunting down HVAC replacement and checked out Yelp. Our initial contacts (with Brandon) were friendly, professional and courteous. He offered us many options and explained any questions we had. We finally settled on a system and a price. The cost was VERY competitive. The installation was flawless. They showed up right on time. The team was let by Robert who was friendly, courteous and helpful. He was assisted by Gabriel, also very professional. Finally, Derrick was also present to do the plumbing work. (A water heater, in addition to the new HVAC system.) The work was done quickly, professionally and (we believe) reliably. They even helped me out with the NEST thermostat. The entire time, the whole staff was respectful of our property, helpful with suggestions, and did the work in a respectful fashion, with no excess noise or problems. Outstanding & quick service at a fair price. Brandon oversaw the replacement of our AC in LaQuinta and did such a fine job, that we had A#1 come out to our primary residence in Los Angeles and do the same. Brandon, Robert and Gabe did a fantastic job replacing our old unit on the 3rd floor roof, which involved hiring a large crane to remove the old unit and then hoist the new Lennox package unit up to replace the old. We also added a floor mount mini split on the 3rd floor to finally provide adequate cooling up there. Great job & thank you, Brandon, Robert & Gabe! Had a problem with our heating and air conditioning, both were not working and turning on, we thought it was going to cost us an arm and a leg to get both fixed, but when A #1 Services Heating and air conditioning came over they explained it was a something simple, they fixed it for free, it was a 4 dollar part they already had. I have no knowledge on things like this and they could have upsale us on how to fix it but they were honest and drove all the way to Escondido to do this for free. Highly recommended!!! read more

My mom's air conditioning in her new Palm Desert home wasn't working and thankfully she had a home warranty. The initial company the warranty service people were sending out, didn't respond to our calls and they weren't open on Sunday and since it's 122 degrees out we couldn't wait. I searched on Yelp for a reliable A/C company in the desert that was a part of the Fidelity Warranty vendor list and based on the reviews I was eager to give A#1 a call in hopes they did warranty work and could come out asap. BINGO! They are very familiar with Fidelity and could come out the same day. Joey came out and was able to diagnose the issue and repair quickly. A few days later I saw water dripping from one of the AC units so we called them and our warranty service to have them come back out for we feared there was a leak and the work wasn't done properly. We called again on a Sunday and they were out the next day. Mind you this is a Holiday weekend. Sal came out this morning and everything checked out perfectly the issue wasn't an "issue" it was just normal condensation that we were clueless about. No charge and no shenanigans. Because of their quick service and honesty I would 100% recommend A#1in fact we signed up for a yearly AC/HVAC maintenance program which was at a VERY reasonable price. read more

A-1 installed our new 4 ton, 14-seer Rheem A/C unit 2 years ago this month. After our home stopped cooling properly, we called them out to take a look and service our equipment. They determined there was a leak within our system somewhere and blamed it on the maintenance of our unit. After going back and forth with them about the situation, and having them propose very expensive diagnostic tests, we decided to call in another local licensed company to take a look at our system to get another opinion. The technician from the other company found the issue in a matter of minutes with a simple, routine inspection of our equipment. There was a loose fitting that occurred during installation that was causing the refrigerant to slow leak over the last 24 months. After a very thorough inspection, they also confirmed our unit was in great shape and not leaking due to a lack of maintenance. Now our house is maintaining a nice cool temperature, and the fix was simple and at a fraction of what A-1 was telling us it would cost. We will be taking our ongoing business to that company. read more

I was overcharged for a simple shower repair to replace a mixer that was sticking. I was verbally told the cost would be $381 for the repair and that was approved. The invoice was emailed to me after the technician left and it showed $99 for the service call and $282 for the Moen replacement cartridge. I had paid $71 to another plumber for the part three years ago plus $138 for labor but he has retired. I called the A-1 office to complain and was offered two "free" AC tune ups that I do not want or need, and they have refused to refund the overcharge. I will not use this company again. read more

I called A1 heroes service heroes for a small job repairing a bib connection and they arrived on time however they did not have anything to fix it so they had to go get a part came back and said they just remember they had a piece in the truck which they put on and did not appear to be a fairly new part of the whole thing took maybe 15 to 20 minutes of they came back and said well we're going to reduce our service fee from 69 to 39 and Labor$140 and that calculation about seven hundred and twenty dollars an hour for the time they were here. talked with a friend who had-recommended them. and they said my bill was identical to theirs same amounts reduction of the service callTherefore they said that #BAL was the same total of $180for 15 minutes is same as the friends and they had a totally different situation read more

Technician showed up and without examining the unit said there was nothing he could do and quoted me $3,500. He didn't try to diagnose the issue. I paid a service fee only to receive a 5 minute conversation and a huge quote. I then called a competitor who sent a technician, who examined the unit, who diagnosed the problem and who corrected it within 15 minutes. A minor part was needed. The unit is now operating properly, all for less than $100. read more

Arrived at my vacation house on a Friday night, 115° outside and I walked inside to find my house 105 degrees inside. Obviously the AC stopped working. I called Amen air-conditioning repair. Within 24 hours my air conditioning was working like new. They gave excellent service and a fair price I will be calling them again for any future problems. read more

Dishonest and rude. This company was a nightmare to work with. They never sent the owner of the property an invoice but when questioned about the work the answer it was all on the invoice. They showed up for maintenance. The maintenance did not work so they were called to come back out. They indicated more tests were necessary. Then after all the tests they determined a significant part needed to be replaced. At that point $1170 had already been spent. When the owner spoke with Kayla she stated the $1170 would be credited against the new part. She said we do that because maintenance is always less than replacement. However, Vince did not provide the promised credit. The owner was charged another $4600. He exact words "we don't work for free." He promised to fix the a/c on Sunday. He did not show up until Monday. Vince was condescending and rude. The tenants complained as well. Do not use this company. read more

We just had a complete a/c and heating system installed by A#1. We selected them based upon reviews and confirmed our selection after a very professional and informative meeting with Dominic. The installation team was a 10 - professional, thorough and courteous- traits rarely found today. Our system was quite old and any complications during the new system installation were overcome in a thoughtful manner giving us choices to maintain acceptable aesthetics. The end product was perfect - every vent was examined and sealed, ductwork tested and any leaks eliminated. We now have a great, efficient system which will keep us comfortable for years When you select a new system be sure to do your research and understand your needs. Installed top of line Rheem 20 multi-stage cooling and heating. Am really pleased with it. Cannot tell if it's running sometimes -so quiet. Moderates set temperature simply and gradually and holds it. So efficient the fan in the outside unit is barely turning when maintaining temp. No more A/C either on or off with quick blasts. Install guys Jai and Danny were polite and thorough. Cleaned up the area well. Two supervisors came by to check on work progress. Vince worked out a great deal on the units. He stayed at my house to 8 PM working out the deal and the work was accomplished the next day. Love it! read more

I had my water heater go out and that was a problem. Had another company come out. The guy who came out had no idea what was wrong with my pilot light, because that was what went out. The guy was here for an hour trying to start it. He had no luck at getting it on at all. I called A#1 services as I heard a lot of great reviews about them. Right away Gonzalo answered the call and was very friendly and knew exactly what was wrong with my water heater by just me telling him the brand over the phone!!!! He has amazing knowledge. This company came to my rescue. My air conditioner began blowing hot air with triple digit temperatures. I called A#1 at 7pm on a Friday night. Gabriel came by at 10 pm and we discussed my options on my 24 year old system. After looking at all options I decided I wanted to replace everything and he called Zane. Zane came to my house that night and we sealed the deal at midnight. Chris and Robert showed up at my house the following morning and got to work (in the 115 degree heat) and Zane brought me a room cooler to keep me comfortable while the work was in progress. About a couple of days ago, I got out of the shower in the cold morning and found out that one of my furnaces wasn't blowing hot air. My neighbor recommend me to his service company(A#1 Services). I called that afternoon and was able to get a technician to meet me at my home after I got out of work. The problem was fixed in about an hour. 156 dollars later my heating is working again. These guys are a very professional outfit and their technicians are really clean and courteous. I will call these guys in future, but hopefully not anywhere the near future. This company is fantastic. All around we had a great experience with each employee. Our a/c unit died a few days ago and they got someone out to look at it the same day. Very professional, he said there were a few things we could try and if it doesn't work we won't be charged for parts. We decided to buy a new unit because ours was so old and inefficient. They gave us a great price, but going into this we didn't know much about a/c units and the going cost. We shopped around and ended up coming back here because they gave us the best price with the most benefits. Their sales manager wasn't pushy and tried to save us as much as he could. Everyone that we interacted with were kind, knowledgeable and professional. They got us in quick and rearranged the schedule so we could get the new unit up and running during this heat wave.
