Just had another great experience with Erkies. This time they installed a water pressure regulator and water pressure sensor. This is a very difficult review to write. We have used Erkies for several years. They installed a whole house heat pump for a few years ago and prior to that they had done other work which was just great. I like Dane, and it is painful to have to report that it appears he has lost control of his business. It is nearly impossible to get them to respond. We have been without air conditioning in the middle of a dreadful summer. They dragged their feet on the diagnosis,, and what was worse it was impossible to get them to respond in any way regarding the plan to fix my air conditioning. We have texted, we have left messages with his IA answering machine, and we have sent emails. I still hope for a positive resolution to this situation and a normalization of our relationship. But just now I believe he is overwhelmed and has allowed the AI to interfere with his relationships with his customers. It's a real shame. read more

Beware!! Beware!! of this shady and dishonest company. After contacting them when my AC was not working properly in Palm Springs and since I also had a coupon (which they did not honor anyway) charged me $743 for their service...12 hrs later it was again not working .. they came back adjusted "something" ..then 8 hrs later no AC again.. After numerous call, texts, and emails for days ...their "bot" finally told me it would be 10 days to come back out... So I was Force to call another company ... the new company came out immediately and told me the issues...which was the same issue Erkies said they had repaired...which they clearly did not.. I had beautiful AC after an hr and is running great now with Timo's AC & Heating. This company may say they have resolved your issue..take your money...then they will ghost you. The tech showed up on time the day we scheduled to repair our AC. He did a complete evaluation by hands-on examination of anything that would stop our AC from cooling. After ruling out the capacitors he discovered a leak in a copper coil leaking coolant. He returned the next day and welded the leak! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and hard working. This is the second time in a month we've used them and we will not look for another company. We've found our go to AC repair company! read more

On a brutally hot Saturday night in July, 2021 my old a/c roof top system breathed its last. Erkies was the only contractor who was willing to come out on Sunday and have a new unit installed and humming by Tuesday morning. Because my partner was in hospice at home at the time, Erkies, on its own initiative, lent us a portable a/c and vented it through a sliding glass door so my partner would be comfortable until the new unit was installed. Erkies can also be relied on for easily booked service calls and to promptly arrive at the time scheduled. Beware. When you want the print out from the machine they will not give it to you. Last year both my air conditioning units passed as no problems. Suddenly both are in need of $1,264.00 worth of Refrigerant ( up to 3lbs). Why? Are there leaks at coils, fittings, valves or line set connections. Nothing evaluated as to why they both went bad in one year. One is quite new. Only get it done if not overheating, freeze-up or compressor damage. Called over and over asking to see the machine print-out... why such loss in less than a year and what happened. Don't trust them... I think they are hiding information I must have to give them $1, 264.00 like they want and the service should have determined what the problem was. Add the Refrigerant and it will leak out if not corrected, Nor reputable.. stay away. read more

I could of sworn the initial ad I saw said $99 and that included a diagnosis and estimate. Apparently it's $99 to show up, nothing else at all. Additional $267 for "one appliance or known device failure". Apparently I had a problem with a breaker. The worker wiggled the breaker then reset it. It worked...$267 thank you. Less than one day later, 12 hours, again power is out to that same breaker (no warranty on the wiggle). I tried but couldn't get it to reset. I called immediately and got "Eugene", do not be fooled, it's A.I.. left an urgent message...no call back. Two days later I received a follow up on an estimate they gave for another job....no thanks. I bought a replacement breaker and it's working fine. $13.23 Home Depot. They did nothing. They were polite. "Family owned" means nothing. read more

Then upon reading other reviews of disgruntled customers listed here , I discovered that this seems to be a pattern of yours when confronted with the truth - to blame the Customer (or shall I say 'Victim'? - instead of taking responsibility for the very questionable actions and behaviour of your employees. Why is that???? Is it Erkie's Policy to encourage its technicians to mislead customers into spending more money than they have to for things they may not need? Case in Point: You, "Mr. Businessman", failed to mention in your rebuttal that I also told you today that your technicians had come to my new home on a supposed "free" electrical inspection included in your 'Family Plan', and during that inspection they pulled out most of the plugs in the main areas of the house, and claimed that the Builder had installed outlets that were "Illegal" and "not installed to code"! They then gave me a rough estimate of what it would cost to replace everything, which was in the Thousands$$$! I then told you how I called Pulte Homes and they sent West Coast Electric Company to investigate the claims of your technicians... When West Coast arrived and discovered that All of my electrical outlets were in fact originally installed to "Code", they called your electrician and confronted him. I believe it was Dana- the same person who installed the whole house surge protector and told me it would protect my pool and landscaping - which it has not! But you defended him again and attributed the whole incident to ' heresay'.. when I actually have witnesses who were here to prove otherwise! So, " Mr. Business", what are you going to do about this latest incident whereby my grass was damaged and landscaping suffered as a result of a power surge that tripped the outlet to the irrigation system that was - according to Dana, your technician who is no longer working with you ( among others I hear)- supposedly protected under the whole house surge protector he installed for $800+???? I asked you today to refund me the money that I was misled and falsely induced to pay because the two things I was most concerned about protecting was the pool and the irrigation systems, and it turns out that the whole house surge protector failed on both accounts ( as I told you today, my pool lights also went out due to a power surge). But instead, you responded by telling me you were going to ' give me some Homework' to research ... and to 'call the electric company to get a record of recent power surges'. I made an emergency call on a Sunday because my water wasn't working to any of my showers or faucets. I had a seasonal tenant coming the next day so it was a rush. I was given a window that the tech would arrive and he never showed up. I called the company and they said he was still coming. Once he arrived, I explained the problem and he did troubleshooting for all of about 5 minutes. He then proceeded to tell me that it was a major problem and would be $5,200 to fix. I paid him a "Sunday" fee to do nothing but write me up a huge quote. He left with my water not running and it was a waste of time/money. I almost told him to just do the work because my tenant was arriving the next day. I decided to get a 2nd opinion. The next morning a new plumber arrived. He spent more time troubleshooting the problem and it turned out to be pretty minor. He was at my house for 45 miniutes and had my water back on within 20 minutes. There was something on my water heater that got shut off by a handyman and never turned back on. Once that got turned back on, water was flowing again. He cleaned a couple screens on my faucets and offered to flush my water heater. I paid him $200.00. He did say I needed a new pressure regulator. He couldn't do it that day but could come back and it would cost about $1,200. So, $5,200 vs $1,400. I waited a week to write this to make sure everything was okay. Thank God I didn't pay Erkies $5,200 because everything has been working great. I've called the owner twice to discuss this with him and he's not calling me back. I would NEVER EVER use this company. This is by far the best home repair company in the Coachella Valley. They are on time, efficient and do amazingly great work. Friendly technicians and fair prices. I have worked with Erkies since 2021 and they never disappoint. Next time you have any difficulties with your Electrical systems, heating and air conditioning and/or plumbing, call Erkies. The work done by Erkies was professional - just damn expensive. They charge $99 to drive to your home. THEN then have an egregiously expensive fee for every additional thing they do. I had a clogged shower drain. It needed to be snaked. $99 for the drive to my home. PLUS $240 for the 8-minute to snake the drain. In other experiences with plumbers they may charge a service call fee, BUT they DEDUCT that from the actual service. Not this time. Not their policy. Erkies charges a dispatch fee that doesn't apply to the service fee, though they discounted it for the first time using them but that was $70 vs their normal $99. On top of that fee, they charge this TFS Surcharge (A fuel surcharge is a mechanism in the service industry that helps balance the fluctuations in the cost of fuel and copper) which is $19.95 as well as their minimum 1-hour labor charge of $99. I paid it because frankly the electrician they sent out was very nice and did a great job. BUT, my usual electrician HEGGE ELECTRIC does not charge those two charges and had I not been so impatient and waited two days I would have save myself $100. Lesson Learned. read more

We arrived back in Palm Springs on Sat. Nov. 30. after being away for a few months, and our hot water heater could not turn on, and I was unable to get the pilot to activate. Called Erkies Sat. evening, and set up a service call for today (Sunday) between 8 am and l0 am. Because of a scheduling snafu, .Erkies sent Dane Feldman, the owner, to check the water heater at 11:15 am. Dane quickly discovered that there was air in the line. After clearing the air, Dane was able to activate the pilot in less than 5 minutes, and hot water soon began flowing. That is Five Star service, and we could not be more pleased. Called for Erkies to come out and take a look at my toilet. Was quoted 1400 without much investigation. Seemed like I was charged 99 dollars for them to show up and do nothing. I called another plumber and all he did was use a snake and toilet was FIXED. He asked if I wanted him to check pipes with camera so he took toilet off and looked at lines. All clear!!! He charged me $550 and it works like new. He suggested to use a different tissue and so will probably solve the problem. I will certainly be calling him again if I need a good plumber. I paid you $99 to do nothing. I know I agreed to it but all it needed was to use a snake and your tech gave me a quote of $1400 plus the $99 I already paid for nothing. That's not a good way to do business. I won't be calling you again or referring you. I may be old but I'm not stupid. read more

Update to my review about the system not working in Cold weather. We had another company out to check out the problem. What they found was an issue due to faulty installation by Erkies. One of the wires that should have been screwed down was NOT! This kept sparking and causing the system to shut down when the compressor started to overheat. There was no screw in place, the wire was just laying loose. A definite fire hazard. We were also told that many other wires were very loose. Thankfully the trustworthy company we had out repaired it all. All I can add is buyer BEWARE!!! read more

I've been with this company for approximately three years on their family service plan last week. Another technician came out to my home after they've been drinking. This is the second technician. Why would anybody want a technician working on their home after they've been drinking and giving you estimates one job that I asked them about I paid half the amount that this company was asking for when I called and spoke with Michael about canceling my service instead of saying sorry man that somebody came out drinking. I had a confirmed appointment today between 2 and 4. Received a text at 3:04 that changed the time to 4:30 to 6:30. What I didn't notice was that they also changed the day to tomorrow. I called for a repair to a Trane AC system that stop working on the first day of an excessive heat as warning AND a Holiday Weekend- Save yourself the aggravation of calling anyone else. Do Not Hire Erkies for Plumbing We hired Erkies to repipe the entire house for a total of $25000 investment. It's been a nightmare, two floods in both bathrooms, faulty water pressure we've asked them to fix 4 times now (you can't run a hose and a faucet at the same time without one just dribbling) and most recent, we got two quotes from their competitors who both informed us that the repiping was done incorrectly: hot water lines are all mixed up with cold water lines leading to showers, they most likely didn't bleed the lines before completing the project so you get a nice surge of piping hot water in the shower followed by ice cold water at random times and to fix their mistake will cost us between $13,000-$14,000!!!! You can't even take a shower in our home anymore without screaming in pain of being scolded with hot water. Next, something as simple as installing new fixtures in one shower they are unable to do-the valves continually leaked for months, we had their techs out 3 times and still they could not fix it. The last time he just left all the fixtures apart said "it's fixed!" and left, didn't even put them back together after an hour tinkering with it. Next morning the valves turned all the way off were pouring out a steady stream of water. One nightmare after another. We finally called another plumber who fixed it in an hour's time for a cost of $600. We have tried to work with them in allowing them to make our nightmare right but they usually don't take out calls and are slow to respond, and when they show up there is never any guarantee they know what they are doing and they leave the repairs in worst conditions. The salesman that sold us their bid took our money and ran, he stopped taking our calls after we signed contract even after saying, "please contact me if you need anything." On top of the large expense of having to repipe our home, two weeks having to live somewhere else, we've been exhausted with the ongoing issues and their lack of professionalism and skill in plumbing. Please take our advice and never hire them for any plumbing needs or anything of that matter, they are awful. read more

Service man gave me a quote for repairs. I paid with my credit card and when I checked my charges, I found the he charged me about $250 more than the quote. I talked to the manager and he told me that it was my fault that I did not ask to see the final charge when I gave him the credit card. He refused to credit me for the extra charge. Once again, Erkies pull through Dane is amazing after the hurricane or tropical storm Hillary yuck I had no power, and my air conditioner went off. I was able to talk to Dane during the course of my 48 hours in power outage mode and he instructed me on what to do and what the problems were and he was absolutely spot on once SCE came and diagnosed the problem It was an Sce problem with a leg of power not being delivered to my panel box. He's incredibly knowledgeable, and the service is provided for free. I can't recommend this company enough people are just love me and I have been a customer of his now for at least four years and I'm so pleased with the service I get in so grateful. $465 to switch out a regular outdoor light fixture and get on a ladder and screw in two outdoor ring camera mounts. No wiring for the cameras or anything, just install the housing. I've had them out here twice and the work they do is good and the service guys are nice, but I won't call again because of the price they charged me this last time. Beware, Dane the owner posting lies and false statements on his own yelp page. We never replaced the fan as he states, because it was never the problem. We had no freon leak either. This company not only did not rectify their negligence they now make false statements about us replacing a fan and having a freon leak. The pictures included have nothing to do with a "freon leak", further reason to stay away from this company. The business goes out of the way to make false statements and outright lie on Yelp rather than make things right with customers they scammed. Extremely unprofessional, beware all customers. Erkie's customer service was great. I had an AC tuneup sched today between 8am and 10am. I received a call in the morning from Erkie's customer service advising the technician would be out between 2pm and 4pm. I then received another call and text that there was a ca and the technician would arrive between 1pm and 3pm. I received a call from my technician, Daniel Garita, who advised he was on his way. Daniel introduced when he arrived and apologized for his experience had he had just finished up an installation. He explained the AC tuneup process. Once he finished he provided me with a summary of my AC. Daniel was professional and courteous. I was very satisfied with the customer service provided by Daniel and the Customer Service representatives. read more

I had Erkies installed my entire AC system in 2019. Since then it has been giving me so many problems. Within the first month/year, there were many problems with the pump in one of the mini-split. It was constantly dripping water inside the room. In Nov 2021, the mini-split was making beeping noises. Gabriel, the technician came to diagnose and found out that the pump deficiency had caused the electricity of the unit to shut down. Gabriel said he needs to order a new pump. I wonder if this is also the cause of the current problem. Now the same mini-split is making small but irritating noise. This make it very hard to fall asleep with the AC on. It also wake you up in the morning. A technician Dane came, tried to fix the problem but the noise was still there. Dane was very nice, he said he would talk to his team and get back to me but so far nothing. From what I understand, they (Erkies) didn't think its a problem. Perhaps they just want to avoid the cost of having to replace it This is very upsetting because I paid for a brand new expensive system from Erkies, still under warranty . I also paid for the yearly maintenance service and I paid for all of Erkies's recommendations. I should not be left with a malfunction mini split, that was constantly having problems and now making these irritating noises that are disruptive to me and my guest's sleep. It has been months and Erkies is insist on not addressing the problem, I would have to report it to the board of contractor or proceed to small claim court I would not recommend this company to anyone. He was able to resolve the issue that I had initially hired him for and also uncovered additional safety issues within my breaker box and was able to repair everything needed while he was here. had a blower motor die on a Saturday ... of course. Our regular company was closed in the weekend so we found another close by who had emergency calls. Picked Erkies ... by chance. said they could send someone between 8 and 10am the next day! the man was almost an hour late and said he couldn't fix it till Monday when he could get the part. So we paid the Emergency Fee but nothing was fixed. The man said the office would call us Monday with the estimate ...and if accepted, to schedule the repair. that was FOUR days ago ... and still NO call !!! Talk about dropping the ball!
