Ribeye soaked in butter - tender yet lacked flavor
    Jenna L.

Friendly, attentive staff, but the food was lackluster and their reservation process would keep me from visiting again. - Ordered the 10 oz Wagyu steak special for $120 and it was a bland, neutral flavor. Wagyu should taste highly flavorful! - Mashed potatoes were authentic, yet also bland and lacked flavor. - Great cocktails and wine options. - Very limited space inside. It's difficult to walk to the bar or bathroom without running into multiple people, so if you prefer spacious areas, lookup pics of this place first! - Charging around $20 per person to book a reservation (refunded at check-in) and being unable to change a reservation the day before, even when the restaurant still shows availability, is ridiculous. I've visited tiny islands where the locals truly depend on tourism for every dollar of their livelihood, so you can't tell me this restaurant needs to charge for reservations to survive. I've never experienced this anywhere as a frequent traveler! - I respect their strict NO ball caps policy, but it was odd that my husband and I had a large naked Marilyn Monroe portrait on the wall for our main view. That's not exactly classy either!

    Steak medium rare

I've been to Jack's a few times and had great experiences, but I felt like this past time there were a few things that you would want to know when making a resolution: 1. they are having some air-conditioning issues so the room that is next to the bar is exceptionally cold. When making your reservation I would ask to be seated in one of the other rooms. 2. I feel like every restaurant does their steak temperatures a little different, which is totally fine. But sometimes I feel like having a reference point helps you know how you might want to order. So I attached a picture of medium rare. In my opinion, if you are between to choices, maybe pick the upper one.

    Bada Bing Calamari

Wow what a beautiful ambiance inside, I love all of the black and white photos of different celebrities. There wasn't a wait whenever we came and we didn't have a reservation, however I could see this place getting busy. For an appetizer we had the Bada Bing Calamari and the sauce it's tossed in tastes very similar to orange chicken, very different than any calamari I've tried before. My sister ordered the sliders and said they were cooked really well. I got the Lemon Chicken Scallopini and wow the flavor is incredible plus the chicken was battered perfectly. I wish the potatoes were a bit crispier, however the flavor was on point. Highly recommend for a date night because of the beautiful interior or even to celebrate a special occasion.

Excellent customer service, drinks, and food. We went to celebrate my birthday and they had a sign at the table saying happy birthday,, cute touch! We started with the focaccia bread will roasted garlic dipping oil, it was good. We both got the 8 oz filets. I had mine with the peppercorn sauce and added the shrimp and my hubby had the chimicurri sauce on the sauce. Both sauces complemented the steaks nicely and the shrimp were huge! We got mashed potatoes to share as well. They brought me the crème brûlée as a complimentary dessert for my birthday, it was very good, but I was still stuffed from dinner. If you are in the area and looking for a nice steak dinner, go give them your business.

Food, ambiance, service all fantastic. Ali was our server and she gave us a bunch of history on the place and some spooky ghost stories too. Would definitely return next trip to Fredericksburg!

We love Jacks Chop House. It has become a must every time we go to Fredericksburg. Our first waitress was Amanda, was she a home run, made the visit so enjoyable. On our anniversary we had Justin, first class guy. The bar is a great place to start your dining experience, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The steaks are out of this world and cooked to perfection.

This place was incredible--easily one of my top ten dining experiences ever. From the moment we walked up, even being greeted by a server coming in from the patio, to the warm welcome from the hostess and staff as we entered and were seated, it felt as though we were being invited into someone's home. Amanda started by bringing out a complimentary tomato and mozzarella appetizer, and she continued to be an attentive, friendly server who made the experience even better. The Parmesan trout was outstanding, and the ribeye arrived on a sizzling hot plate, bathed in melted butter--absolutely unforgettable. And the mashed potatoes? I wish I could have those at Thanksgiving. The Mulberry Street Tartufo Sundae was enjoyed by my husband and was definitely large enough for two to three people--he even took some home. My only disappointment was the crème brûlée; the top didn't "crack" as expected and instead had a thick, chewy layer that I ended up not eating. Overall, this is a wonderful spot for a special occasion or anytime you're in the mood for a nicer evening out. Definitely $$$$

    Dry hamburger

Came here on a random weekend. The good: Our waitress was very friendly and polite. It's a cute restaurant with a lot of JFK memorabilia. The not so good: Ordered a rib eye and I really think they gave us a strip. There was no marbling and it was extremely tough and very difficult to chew. The texture and taste was more like a strip than a ribeye. If it actually was the rib eye, it is the toughest ribeye I've ever had. The flavor was good though (and had a very beefy taste like a strip). Ordered medium rare and it was cooked correctly (medium rare) so that's good. FYI it is pre-sliced. The hamburger was probably the dryest hamburger I've had in my life. It was ordered medium rare and it came out well done like a leather shoe. It even crumbled apart because it was so dry. I added bacon and even the bacon was dry! I have no idea what happened. Fries were good though. Trout was a little dry and bland. It was fresh though. Asked for a side of any kind of sauce they had. They brought out bernaise sauce (extra $4 charge on the bill) The food took an incredibly long time to come out. I think we waited for an hour. I really wanted to like this place, especially since our waitress was great but I won't come back and don't recommend this place. The food didn't hit the mark. They also charge a 3% credit card processing fee so that was fun. Everything was $212 with 22% tip.

We had a wonderful experience for a special occasion dinner. When we arrived for our reservation, we were offered a complimentary glass of wine while they prepared our table. This was such a nice touch, and we got to enjoy the artwork and live music as we waited. Our server was very professional and kind, and the service was great all around. Drinks were good, and we really enjoyed the food. The French onion soup, Brussels sprouts, and sliced potatoes were all delicious. The steaks were huge! They were tasty and cooked well, but there were quite a few gristly pieces in both steaks we ordered. This wasn't a big deal for us since the portions are so huge, you could just eat around them. Next time we might order a fish or pasta and steak to share. I do think this is one of the best places to eat in Fredericksburg. We had a very good experience, and the service and ambiance is what makes the restaurant stand out. Our server brought a complimentary dessert over for our special occasion and even brought the live band over to sing a snippet of a song for us. It was special and we will definitely be back.

They gave me a complementary cheesecake for my birthday. SUPER YUMMY!

Hubby and I had my birthday dinner there. Ambiance is great, I love the lighting and mood. Employees are very friendly and nice. The food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I have never had a steak like the one I had here. It was so tender and juicy. It literally felt like it would melt. Highly recommend Jacks Chophouse!

If you plan to go with a group, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Waitress and other staff were awful. We came in with a group of six people and were told that we had to get a price fix menu and could not order what we wanted. This was never disclosed when booking our reservation. This meal included Caesar salad (great), meatballs (tasted like frozen grocery store meatballs), lasagna (nothing special but good), a tomahawk steak (great but undercooked, was completely raw) and a strange assortment of desserts (cheesecake, cannolis, and a very odd ice cream ball). When we arrived and shared our dissatisfaction with having to get a fixed menu, our waitress asked if we had ever had a four course meal. It was extremely condescending. After being told there was nothing they could do, we agreed to eat whatever they brought out. We had a 9 month old baby that was teething and the meal dragged on for two hours. We all had to take turns walking him outside, and our waitress never addressed this. The meal dragged on and on as we all just want to leave. To top it all off, they added a 22% gratuity for the nonexistent service we received AND charged us a $25 credit card fee.. like we would pay the more than $1000 meal with cash. Needless to say we will not return. I'm not sure why our waitress never asked if she could do anything to make it right. It was obvious that because the tip was included she felt like it was alright to treat us like garbage.. I'd love to talk more about my experience with management but was in a hurry to get my baby home.

They also left us a cute message for our anniversary

Angus filet mignon 10/10 Service was great! We had reservations and didn't wait at all to be seated. For dessert we had the cheesecake with a banana glaze it was 1,000/10 if I hated everything else I'd still come back for that cheesecake

    Ribeye and carrots!

We came for our anniversary! My wife and I loved the dark mood lighting and the lite music playing in the background. We enjoyed: The New York strip The Ribeye Several drinks Cooked carrots Mashed potatoes And the Bannana Foster Cheesecake! Wow Kyle was amazing at checking up on our throughout our meal and making suggestions that showed he listened to us. Jacks is now our go to spot on trips to Fredericksburg for a nice meal.

Right in the heart of Hill Country, Martini's manages to bring the best of coastal fine dining to Texas wine country. The vibe is upscale but relaxed, the cocktails are creative and perfectly crafted, and the seafood is as fresh as it gets. We're talking oysters, beautifully presented seafood towers, and dishes that absolutely deliver on every level. But what truly elevated our experience was our server, Hunter. From the moment we sat down, Hunter was attentive, warm, and genuinely knowledgeable about the menu. Not once did we have to flag anyone down -- Hunter was simply there, anticipating what we needed before we even asked. The recommendations were spot-on, the pacing of the meal was perfect, and Hunter's personality made the whole evening feel like we were being hosted by a friend rather than just served at a restaurant.

You should know, this is an intimate space with only eight 4 tops and a dozen seats at the bar and that's all. We got here on a Wednesday happy hour, and the place was almost full, so making a reservation might be in order. The happy hour food and drink specials is most likely the reason why the place was almost packed. The dinner menu takes the prices to the next level. We started off with a couple of $10 martinis and decided on four happy hour menu items. My shrimp Po boy came on a crunchy French baguette and the Seabass was cooked to perfection. No wonder this place was packed. At six on the dot a pianist took the stage and livened up the atmosphere. The happy hour crowd trickled out, and the dinner folks strolled in. We added their bruschetta as the final piece and it was really very fresh. Some notes of interest that others may have missed: 3% credit card fee, no wifi and there's mouthwash for you in the bathroom. Definitely a place to revisit. 10 informative photos to get you through the door.

The volcano ashes was a bit too bitter for my taste - if you're someone who wants very little sweetness in your drink, this is the one for you. The floating petals was much more my style - the mix of floral tastes was lovely and it was on the slightly sweeter end, just how I like it! We decided on two sangrias after that which were nicely spiced and absolutely lovely. As it got colder outside we decided to move to one of their side rooms, which has nice furniture and is a bit more private than the main room. When the dish arrived, however, the steak was clearly overcooked and closer to well done than medium-rare. When we raised the concern, the waiter claimed she had told us the meat would come out anywhere from medium-rare to well done due to how it sits in the warmer, and then suggested we must have misunderstood her initial explanation. This contradiction was frustrating and unprofessional, especially as it felt like our concern was being dismissed rather than addressed. Both the waiter and manager insisted the steak was cooked correctly, despite it clearly not being medium-rare. After we sent it back, they replaced it with a filet that was prepared properly. They did remove the original entrée from the bill, but then charged us for the filet at cost. Given the situation, it would have been more appropriate to simply substitute the filet at the original menu price. Unfortunately, my meal was also very underwhelming. The fish lacked flavor and was not enjoyable. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially for a special anniversary dinner. I will say -- the hummus plate was delightful. Light and great flavor for an appetizer. The drinks were also very good too.
