Stanley is very no nonsense yet personable, and lightning fast. came out to the field either same day or next (can't remember) and called that evening with a quote for our kitchen counter tops (actually a few numbers, based on material). at the office, Slava was knowledgeable, friendly and fast when we came over to look at slabs. way better than the other places (read below). I spoke with Agnes over email to provide cutout dimensions and she was fast and friendly too, exactly like email should be. like 3 days later, everything was cut, polished and installed. looks great. this is the third place i went to. the others were a PITA as they only sell slabs, and don't fabricate themselves, and won't give you a price!! you pick out the slab, then you tell your fabricator which one you picked, then they call you back eventually with a price for $20,000 and then you start all over again, two weeks later. it's really, really nice that these guys are all in one and everything is FAST. price is also great. we didn't come in on budget, like everything else on this project, but at least we were close on this one lol. my only complaint is their slab selection is relatively smaller, and their slabs are not as nice (lots of veining, mineral deposits etc.) but i kind of expected that for the price, and we ended up going with quartz anyway.

A friend heard good things about KB&B so I made an appointment and met with Kim. I cannot say enough positive comments about her. She took the time to listen to what we wanted, looked at pics of our current bathroom, and was very direct with what could and could not be done given our dimensions and budget. She was very professional and we left the store confident we were headed in the right direction. Mario (owner) came out a few days later to measure and take pics. He was professional and also straight to the point. The quote was a bit higher than we had hoped, but we felt good about the design and items we selected. Items were ordered and Kim kept us updated on their status since it was several months before they could even start constructions. Once they started, we realized why they cost a little more than the average Joe contractor. Every contractor (4 different guys) were each phenomenal. They treated our home like it was theirs. They were all very clean, very detailed, and they ended up doing a few extra repairs outside of the contract (with my permission). Kris was the main contractor and was here the most and I would give him more than 5 stars. The painter is expertly skilled and I can't tell where the drywall repairs were done. The crew also was very careful around our dogs and didn't leave any doors open. The final project exceeded our expectations. We noticed a few paint touch ups that were needed and Mario sent someone out - a week after the job was done and the check was cashed. They all take pride in their work and I feel really wanted to do whatever they could to have me as a satisfied customer. Make an appointment, rather than just walking in - Kim is busy. Bring in pics and measurements if you can to help her out. They won't be the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. I would hire KB&B again and encourage everyone reading this to check them out.

It's truly a high-end product, direct to the consumer. If you've looked in the typical places for hardwood options, you'll be blown away with the quality of what he offers. We opted for the 7.5" wide, French White Oak, in a beautiful grayish brown pre-finish stain. We're remodeling a loft condo in the West Loop and knew we needed something special to recover the entire loft's floors, to tie it all together. We had 6 different flooring surfaces throughout the home. For install, we decided to go with SLC, to eliminate some ridges and valleys, and a double-stick glue install, using 1/4" cork underlayment. We have to break up the install into 2 parts, first part looks great! Looking forward to seeing the completed project later this year!

I even recommended him to my family outside of Chicago. You can get the same look from the stores in Merchandise Mart and the high-end contractors will sell you those brands with a much higher rate. But working with James will help you achieve the high-end look as well as manage your budget well. Keep in mind this is not the average wood you will get for $5 per sqft. I feel I can trust James and his integrity which is the quality that we always value in any business that we want to work with. She was recommended by our builder and helped us to pick out tile for our new custom home. It was professionally and very nicely installed. However in one bathroom, we immediately encountered a problem. It took months of working with the tile manufacturer and distributor to come up with a solution. However, Beverly ignored us, wouldn't return my phone calls or emails, and refused to cooperate with the other parties to come up with a solution to a product that she sold us. They never stood behind the products or labor. She was very friendly and helpful until we encountered a problem. In the end we're having to remove the tile and replace it at our cost. In a new house, that's unacceptable.

In the description here it states: "We also fabricate and install countertop materials such as: Cambria (Quartz), Ceasarstone (Quartz), Granite, Marble, Silestone and Corian" That is a lie, plain and simple. They have no shop, they themselves do not do any countertop work, but instead farm it out to partners just like the big box stores do. Worse, when you talk to the owner Beverly, she will look you in the eye and tell you she is a "dealer" for companies when she clearly is not. Her partner is the dealer, and she just has a little box of samples to show you. She only has one small chunk of granite installed in the store and no quartz. Beverly also claimed to have used the "same guys for over 10 years" but the "guys" she uses havem't even been in business that long. I may or may not mind people using partners, but don't lie to me about it. I came here to do business with a local firm and cut out the middleman and the risks involved with dealing with the big box stores. These guys are nothing but middlemen when it comes to countertops. What exactly am I getting for the markup they add, a box of samples? Finishes didn't even show up for the measurements. At least the big box stores have buying power to (maybe) get you a lower price, Finishes does not. If all you are is a designer or general contractor, then say so. Perhaps they actually do their own work for floors? I'll never know as I don't do business with people who lie to my face and add no value.

The Kitchen Studio popped up in my google search as being a local dealer of the specific higher end material I wanted. Upon arrival, an employee told me "they don't do just countertops". Okay. That isn't clear on their website. Then she went on to tell me she can't think of anywhere in the area to refer me that "just does counters". First, of all, there are at least 10 countertop fabricators within a 10 mile radius of Glen Ellyn. Someone in the industry should know this. Second, I'm sure the Kitchen Studio has an in house fabricator or they subcontract it out to someone local (most likely) and thus, why on earth would you not give this person my business??? I have a fairly large kitchen and master vanity. My quotes from the other local fabricators, who do, in fact, exist, are coming in at $120/sq foot and up. I'm giving 2 stars instead of one because all their kitchens on houzz are truly lovely and I'm sure if you hire them they would design a beautiful kitchen.

However when cost estimates were developed for contract signing for the project implementation phase, her personal fees were 3 times of what they should have been per our retainer agreement. When I pointed out the retainer terms, instead of correcting, they sent me a new retainer document and told me their process has changed. The change is permanent and sometimes there is a little fallout like this. These were Susan's words in her email to me. I took them to court ( case#2019SR000483 in Dupage county) to get my money back which I did. Susan herself is talented and personable but her business partner and company co-owner's dealings are disappointing and ignorant of basic business ethics. Susan kept saying he handles all money and pricing aspects. I had to walk away! Update 1/10/2020: I stand by my comments and the fact that you completely disavowed the terms of retainer and when I pointed out the pricing terms that we agreed to In the retainer, you emailed me a new retainer document with all pricing terms removed from it. I would have never signed anything or paid you $7k based on that new retainer devoid of any specifics. This was an act of complete lack of integrity. If you are serious about building reputation, practicing integrity will help. Good luck

We met John through our home builder, and he was our favorite trade to work with. The experience was so good that we use John and Performers any time we can. They have redone the floor of my in-laws house, they are doing the floor and tile work in our basement remodel - basically, if we could use them for something, they were absolutely the first people we called. John and Performers stand by their work, they are super helpful but, most importantly, John is extremely friendly (and employs a staff of just genuinely nice people to work with). I cannot recommend Performers enough. They are just a joy to work with.

We paid a $5,877.50 deposit for a flooring project that was later postponed while a separate legal matter involving our existing flooring was being resolved. When we eventually requested the return of our deposit, we made repeated attempts to obtain a response, including written requests in June, July, and August 2026. We were ultimately sent a check for only $1,142.50, with $4,735.00 deducted for alleged material purchases, annual replacement of finishes due to shelf life, and an $850 inspection charge. We dispute these deductions because, as of the date of this review, we have not been provided with signed contractual language authorizing them, written approvals showing that we agreed to these purchases or replacement charges, supplier invoices, receipts, proof of payment, or adequate documentation explaining what happened to the materials. We previously trusted this company, maintained a positive relationship with its owner, and referred multiple clients to them. The lack of communication and the manner in which this refund has been handled are unacceptable. The matter has now been referred to legal counsel. I will update this review if Performers provides the requested documentation and resolves the dispute fairly.
