Long review incoming but the hostess was extremely rude. Also, check your bill because they throw stuff on that doesn't belong. Upon arriving, I was pleasantly surprised to see that no one was waiting despite the holiday weekend. I asked the hostess for a table for 2 and she said it wouldn't be too long of a wait but offered the bar if we wanted to eat immediately. I don't find the bar comfortable and my companion was parking so I said we'd wait. After about 2 mins 2 young ladies arrive and she offers them the bar but before doing that makes sure we still don't want to eat at the bar. I confirm for a second time that we want a table. Meanwhile, a couple leaves and I see the hostess go over to another couple at the bar who were not on the list and say "I don't usually do this but since your both here if you want a table I have one." Kind of rude especially since by her own admission they don't do this but my companion was still parking and I figured maybe she was spreading some valentines cheer so I said nothing. About 5 minutes later a group of 3 arrive and she offers them the bar seats which they also decline. She puts them on the list under my name and in the meantime says if I want to sit at the bar while waiting that's fine. My companion and I decide to take a seat there since she had suggested this and we didn't want to be in the way. At this point the hostess start giving us place setting and menus and I reiterated for a THIRD time that we wanted a table. She replied oh well you might not have time and ran off. Another 5 minutes goes by and I see a party of 3 leaving. Knowing we're next on the list I start to gather my stuff only to see the hostess cross my name off the list and run outside to the wine bar to grab the people below us on the list. When I stop her and remind her we want a table she gets an extremely nasty tone and starts arguing with me that I said a bar seat would be fine. She knew damn well we did not agree to that. After being caught red handed, instead of apologizing to me and the other party and rectifying the situation she dug in and berated me and said it doesn't matter anyway because this is a three seater and proceeded to seat them over us. After waiting an additional 15 minutes we got a seat next to the kitchen where I had a view of 2 other couples sitting at 3 seaters.. Guess that rule was just for my partner and I. Mind you this was to celebrate my birthday and valentines so it stung extra to be treated in such a manner. After all of that, we caught the restaurant putting Carpaccio di Manzo on our bill which, we did not order. The waitress fixed it and barely offered an apology. The bartender was the best part of this experience, she was kind, knowledgeable, and seemed to enjoy her job. She even came over as we were leaving to thank us for our patronage and seemed to be cognizant of terribly we were treated. 5 yelp stars for her! As for the food, I'd give it 4 stars. It was good but the vodka and baccala sauces seemed to be missing something. read more

Family dinner at Grano on January 17th - Saturday nite and no reservation. Woman (who i believe is owner) was gracious and accommodating - figured out a way to squeeze us in, and more importantly, make us feel very, very welcomed. We had a cheap bottle of italian red, a few apps (caesar salad, olives, bread and olive oil) and then a few great entrees - featuring their outstanding pastas. Our waitress Katie - was a super star - funny, attentive and kind. Oftentimes how a restaurant makes you feel is overlooked in these reviews, but for sure - the folks at Grano are incredible at what they do. The food is really good. I truly feel like I was taken advantage of. I paid $63 for two small portions of pasta that came with only four shrimp. There was no bread, no salad, and not even utensils included with the order. I ordered through DoorDash and when I received my order, it was still piping hot. I ordered the meatballs and lasagna. The meatballs could have used a little more salt overall so every-time I took a bite, I was slightly disappointed. The sauce could also use a touch of salt as well. The meatballs did however have great herb flavors and I think I tasted some kind of cheese. Although, I didn't notice it when I looked at it. I ended up dumping shredded cheese in the container which h gave me the saltiness it was missing. The lasagna did not look appealing but it did taste good. The types of cheeses they used really did their thing!! The lasagna was flavorful and very fulfilling. I was surprised it didn't have any meat on the inside, but It really doesn't matter. Came here for a birthday dinner with my best friend. It's a charming pasta spot that you can either take-out or dine-in at. We came because it is one of the more affordable pasta spots in town. We were a group of four and sat outside. It was a Friday evening around 7pm at we waited less than 10 minutes for a seat outside. The staff is extremely kind and welcoming here. We each ordered pastas to share. My bestie and her husband shared the carbonara. We all found it a bit too smokey for our liking. The burrata salad was nice and delicious like burrata always is. I shared the ravioli al formaggio with another friend and we really enjoyed the vodka sauce with it. To finish our meals we ordered the mini cannolis. We all enjoyed the filling. I wish I liked the pastry part a bit more. While none of us ordered this, I appreciated the gluten-free options they offered (like meatballs and a gluten-free pasta substitute). We had walked past the takeout window that faces the main street plenty of times, but didn't quite grasp there was a full functioning restaurant with an entrance down the side street. We decided to try our luck for dinner on a Saturday night and walked in to be told there was maybe a 15 minute wait. We put our names down and honestly were called back within 5 minutes. Very no frills no fuss good eating food. We inhaled the stuffed zucchini app we got to share. For mains I got the clam pasta whereas my boyfriend decided to keep it simple with the spaghetti pomodoro. He enjoyed his meal very much but did lament the fact that there was no complementary bread basket, as he had a lot of leftover sauce which would have been wonderful to dip some bread in. I enjoyed my clam dish, very simply done but very tasty. Service was quick and the place is clearly very popular as there was a constant turnover of diners the whole hour or so we were there. I sat outside so I didn't get to see the interior, but the bench area was super cute and had an awning over which made it perfect once the sun set behind the buildings. However, 45 minutes later, we still hadn't received our appetizer. Our other friend also got a bottle of wine for us all to share later on. The appetizers came out quickly and were good. The bruschetta was a little oily for me (it was topped with an olive tapenade, so I should've known!). We did take a while to order our appetizers because we were immersed in conversation, but our waitress was never pushy or rushed us. I got the linguine zia Teresa, my husband got the carbonara, and our friends got the cheese ravioli and the bolognese. I'm not a huge pasta person, but I really really enjoyed my dish. The shrimp were a decent size and everything was very fresh. It was flavorful without being too complex. The simplicity of the garlic, tomatoes, and olive oil was delicious. My husband's carbonara was perfect. I almost wish I stole more bites from him. Our friends also enjoyed their dishes a lot and finished it all. We also got dessert. My husband and I split a tiramisu which was a good portion size for 2. It was very light and delicious. The wine was good, and I enjoyed my aperol spritz! We were able to sit outside as a group of about 5-6 on a cold day; their tent is warm and doesn't feel like you're outside at all! Hard seating for large groups, much more appropriate for groups of 2-4, but they were very accommodating! I shared the Gorgonzola penne and the fusilli caprese (with gnocchi) which were both delicious! We got some bread with the bread basket and the bread was also great. The food was so warming on a cool December evening. This place feels so homey and their pasta is so delicious! The tiramisu is also so good! Having been to Rome and many "Little Italy" in the US, I'd say I have the best carbonara and ragu di pomodoro in the US. The pasta is not over cooked ("al dente"), leaving the texture a bit chewy and bouncy, which I really enjoyed. The carbonara sauce is rich and creamy, with the pork/bacon pieces smoky and chewy. In particular, it's not over-salted which makes it stands out in my opinion (sometimes this dish is too salty). And I notice their sauce is not "eggy", meaning that they probably didn't add egg in the sauce (but still rich and creamy), and I prefer it cooked this way. The ragu di pomonoro is light and refreshing. The tomato is a bit tangy but it's the extent that I enjoy. We also had salad and appetizer, both full of flavor and good portion. It was a solid dinner. The service was nice. Our server was nice and explained to us the ingredients and flavor profile of the food. And also recommended wine that pairs well with the pasta (the wine, btw, was very good! Forgot the particular name, but it was sparkling white wine, slightly sweet). The atmosphere was great too, candles on the table, relatively private. Went for the flounder special with lemon, olive oil, greens, green beans and potatoes--so good sopped up with fresh bread from a tiny paper bag! My new go-to pasta restaurant! The vibes of the restaurant are quite homey and warm, with dim lighting, artwork, and wine bottles placed around. It can get quite crowded, which especially during the colder months can make sitting towards the front of the restaurant harder, but the food makes it worth it! I ordered the Linguini Zia Teresa, which featured shrimp and linguini in a garlic and tomato sauce, which was definitely the standout meal from all the times I have eaten here. My friend had the Ravioli Ai Funghi, which was a delicious mushroom and ricotta ravioli dish. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer, which while a bit oilier than we expected was still a great meal starter (we have since become big fans of their regular mixed olives appetizer). I have also since tried the Penne Vodka, which while also great wasn't quite as top notch as these other two meals. The service was great--we had to wait a while for our meals, and we were given a tiramisu on the house. The major con is the prices, which can definitely be quite steep, but this is a great place for an occasional student budget splurge! read more

Second time here. Pasta was served hot and fresh. We got the penne vodka and the pollo alla checca. Both very yummy. The first time we came we got two servings of the spaghetti carbonara. One had much more oil and the sauce was completely separated. So don't expect consistency. Service was poorer than expected. Waitresses all seemed to be in a rush and didn't check on us at all. Tables are all crammed together. We had to press ourselves against another couple's table just to sit and then get up. Worst tiramisu I've ever had in my life. The portion was perfect for $7 but the ladyfingers were way too thick and SOLID. I don't think they'd even been soaked at all. They were not spongy and soft and we had to cut into them so they didn't completely lift out of the tray. The entire thing was essentially dry ladyfingers with some pudding on top and a dusting of chocolate. It had some weird dusting of sugar around the outside of the base cake that made it crunchy and hard. Unbelievable. read more

This is such a charming place to dine! The pasta tasted homemade and the sauces are made with fresh ingredients. I had the checca sauce with farfelli noodles. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was flavorful! The only thing I would note is that the pesto took over the flavor a lot but if you love pesto, you'll love this sauce. For dessert, we had the cannolis. You get three small cannolis in an order, the cream was great! Only other things to note is that their new entrance is further down on the side of the building and it is BYOB (with a small uncorking charge). However, coming soon they will have their liquor license. Lastly, they do not have traditional sodas only natural ones but they are very good! read more

Just a few disclaimer's the outdoor seating is perfect for like 2-4 guests, I would not suggest a large group, seating would be very tight. Me and my date started off with splitting a bottle of Moscato Rose', which I was pleasantly surprised. I am not a big fan of sweet wines, but this bottle was not bad at all. For starters, I did the burrata( Creamy center mozzarella, tomatoes, Olive oil & artisanal bread) and my date opted for the Ceasarina salad with grilled chicken( Romaine lettuce dressing with Pecorino Romano, anchovies & olive oil). Both salads were really good, I really liked his Caesar salad, definitely will stop in for lunch and grab one. You cannot come here and not get the pasta, as soon as you walk up, you can smell the delicious aroma wafting from the kitchen. For dinner, I chose the spaghetti carbona( Pancetta, garlic, olive oil, Pecorino Romano cheese and free range eggs ) and my date chose the Fettucine Bolgonase( Original Troia family recipe of ground beef & pork, , vegetable mirepoix & peeled tomatoes), which I did not get a picture of, sorry we were too busy eating our dinners. I'm mostly plant based in my diet but I like to come here to try their gluten free rendition of various dishes. Gluten free is a must for me as someone with Celiac. Plant based/vegan is preferred but optional. Wait: None! I was here around 12 on a Friday. Service: The woman who took my order, etc, was super sweet and gave food suggestions based on my cravings. Food: I was pleased. I see the reviews are all over but I was very satisfied with my meal. I had gluten free meatballs, penne pomodoro, a lemon San Pellegrino, coconut flan, and a burrata caprese salad. There wasn't a single part of that meal that I wasn't absolutely happy with. We were sat at the front table. Leaving the kitchen or bar at anytime you have to pass us. I say this because it's no way our server could have missed us throughout our dining experience. To the point I literally could see her look at us and go the other way. Our server never introduced herself, couldn't tell you her name. She asked what were we getting today, and that was it. She wasn't friendly or inviting, she didn't make any suggestions, she seemed irritated that we were there. We ordered a bottle of white wine. She poured a glass and sat the bottle on the table. She came and got our order and the only time she came to check on us was at 10:02 to clear our table and drop the check. The hostess was a doll, she checked on us asked if we needed anything. I asked for a chiller for our wine, she refreshed our bread, got us salt & pepper etc. She clearly saw we were in need of things unlike our server who clearly chose to ignore us. The icing on the cake was a table who came in after us, they were sat next to us, she was much more engaging and attentive with them which tells me she is capable of doing a better job. They had their entrees before we did. Arriving maybe 15 minutes after us. As Chefs who have been in the industry for some time now (20+ years), nothing grinds our gears more than shitty service. Every customer should receive the same quality service. The food was actually good but the service will have me not return. If I come to your establishment to dine and at the end I am contemplating leaving a tip. Then something is wrong. Your server really dropped the ball and it's disappointing. I don't know if I would say it was a racial thing but it felt something like it and I don't care to endure that again. If the hostess didn't leave before we're done we would have given her the tip instead. She earned it! read more
