Ambience is very cozy inside, with a nice bathroom. The veggie sandwich unfortunately used old onion that was very bitter and ruined the sandwich, but the hummus and other veggies were good. I'm sorry everyone, but the food at this place is just TERRIBLE. But we couldn't even finish our breakfast because the food was so bad..... and we came to the place hungry!! For some fantasy-curdled reason, I was hoping this standalone shack off Highway 1 would be a charming gingerbread-type house full of magically edible whimsy run by a twinkly, eternally optimistic woman like Rose Nylund from St. Olaf by way of Miami. Thank you for being a friend. But no, the young staff hews a little more closely to indifference as they served up coffee and breakfast items with a discernible lack of alacrity. The bagel with egg, sausage and cheese is top notch and the vanilla latte with soy was the best I've had in a long, long time. I'm traveling from out of town otherwise this would be one of my personal stomping grounds. The environment is chill, folks are kind, no airs about it. This place was really dope! I can't think of a cooler coffee place near the beach where you can get all your morning fuel. The parking lot is small but has plenty of spaces it seemed like. The whole cafe is really warm and woodsy, but has this awesome quirkiness of having a bunch of elephant's everywhere. Artwork, statues, trinkets, you name it. The place had a few people in it but we were able to grab a spot at some bar stools. There are 2 menus: one for food and one for drinks. Unfortunately we got there too late to try any scones or most of their baked goods (they must be fire), so we decided to get what they had left lol, the breakfast cookie and a bagel with cream cheese. The staff was very kind and told me that the baked goods sell out super early. The breakfast cookie was amazing, it was fat and soft, loaded with nuts, berries and banana flavor. It was a complete meal. And the bagel, although basic, was hard to beat. This was one of the better cafe bagels I've had, it was toasted to perfection. For drinks, we got a latte and a regular coffee. Coffee was pretty good! I'd definitely go back, next time to get a scone! read more

This is a great little spot a few feet from highway 1 on the southbound side in HMB. Nothing fancy and a bit rustic but food and coffee are great. I would have given them 5 stars if not for my frustrated with the service and lack of communication on their website. I drove all the way from Pacifica to get a coffee and one of their bagels but instead got a barista stating they were not serving anything but a couple baked goods and closing was in 12 minutes. I thought that was very exact. I just wanted to relax and enjoy my regular choices but what I got was frustration. I should have known something was array cause when I entered the door their were no customers at all. The barista notified me of the two options and that they didn't receive their bagel delivery today. They serve much more then bagels but apparently none of that was on the menu today. Granted the place was closing early but most places take their last order at closing not turn patrons away. But, I would have been ok With taking my coffee and bagel with me or any other option besides a cookie and a pastry. So, I left hungry and unfulfilled and am now looking for my next location. So why dis I take more time out of my day to write this review you might ask yourself, because my frustration comes from none of this being mentioned on their website. I find that incredibly insensitive being the gas prices and my time it took to drive down the coast which is valuable time. After all, I live in one of the most expensive places in the US and I have a mortgage and a kid in college. So, not cool at all. But, would I come back for that tasty coffee and delicious bagel? Yes! So, this should not stop anyone from checking Granola's Coffee House out for the delicious coffee and backed goods as well as bagels and other tasty treats. I just want the owner/management to understand the impact on their customers who travel to spend their hard earned money in their establishment and that should not be take for granted. We are big bagel for breakfast fans in our house. Mostly store bought and cream cheese with everything bagel seasoning from Trader Joes. I knew we weren't going to get that here so I figured let's keep it simple and get plain with cream cheese. This place did NOT disappoint! Their bagels are SO good. I didn't do any research prior to coming here as we were just passing by on a road trip but holy moly. Great, fresh tasting bagels. We were in town for a wedding and stopped by several times, just for these delightful morsels of goodness. I quickly learned gotta get there when they open for the best chance at those cookies as they often sell out early. While there I noticed several folks have breakfast and coffee, food looked good. Each time we arrived there was a short line with two people working behind the counter. The folks working were polite and apologized for the brief wait. We stopped here on the way down to Monterey. It was so so good! We were in awe of the inside - there are lovely wooden tables and plenty of seating both inside and outside. Service was quick and friendly. The oat milk cappuccino was excellent, and the breakfast sandwiches were even better! Forgot to add avocado to my bagel :'( But you could tell everything was fresh! Gooey cheese, runny yolk, fresh Everything bagel... They have so many sandwiches and other options (granola, pastries, oatmeal, smoothies, etc) and my partner enjoyed his coffee. We split both options and left fairly full and definitely satisfied. All of the sandwiches are customizable and you have different waffle toppings as well! The interior is filled with old shelving as seats, tables, shelves.. lots of wood is used. They have the cutest accents and helpful signage everywhere, plus a beautiful, airy, back room filled with natural light. It's a place to come get a quick breakfast/coffee/snack, stay to work, or to grab something to snack on while at the beach (which you WILL throw away/recycle, riiiight??) Need a wake me upper on Cabrillo Highway?! Sometimes driving on Cabrillo Highway can get really slow, especially during the weekend when everyone wants to get out of the city and drive down the coast towards Half Moon Bay or further. Driving 15-20 miles per hour gets me bored and sleepy. So I must stop, stretch my legs and have some caffeine help. On this particular drive Granola's Coffee House happened to be at the right place at the right time. I was pleasantly surprised with the inside setting and decoration. The coffee was good. My espresso was pulled just right. They had a few sandwiches on the menu to, but we did not order any this time. We sat near the window, sipped on our coffee and watched the traffic go by for a few minutes before getting on the way. If I lived near by, I would be a regular here. read more

I hate to do this, especially during these times. This review is based off the bagel breakfast sandwich, and would've received one star, except the mocha cold brew was ok. Visited this establishment this morning. Our order came flip-flopped, wrong bagel. That's ok, we just switched the tops. What wasn't ok was that the bagel was extremely hard and dry, no butter or anything to soften it up. The egg was overcooked and crispy, and the sausage was thin and bland. They were also out of napkins and the staff was mediocre, in terms of friendliness. I hope this was a fluke, perhaps the great ratings are solely for the coffee. If I hadn't paid $25 for two sandwiches and two drinks, I would've thrown it out. read more

Whew! This place rules. Super cute, cozy aesthetics. Kid friendly, which is always a huge plus as a parent! They have tons of gluten-free options and their breakfast bagel sandwiches were literally the best I've ever had.... seriously. Please go. I had an almond milk latte. We came here on a Thursday late morning, ordered a "The Works" and a "Lox" with an Americano and Cafe Au Lait. The bagel sandwiches were delicious. The bagels were light and not heavy. The flavors of the lox were fresh, and balanced with the cream cheese. The Works was tasty, and so much for the price. The coffees were a little lackluster.
