What a great place. We have driven by this place quite a few times (usually on the weekend) Always busy which is a good sign. We decided to stop here today since we were back in the area. It was Thursday afternoon so not slammed but still busy at 2pm. Nice place with a nice view of the harbor area. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We had a beer and ordered their Nachos. Very nice plate of Nachos well prepared (layered nicely with Black Beans at the bottom that you can get at and add to your chips as needed. All the other food that we saw looked amazing and I overheard people having great comments about their dish. Our server was Caitlin and she was fantastic. Helpful and did not ignore her tables and did a great job of checking back in. We will bring going back there. If you are in the area you should stop by and visit this place. read more

Came here for lunch at their new location on Main Street. It's a smaller restaurant compared to the main one in El Granada and also not very busy. There are a few tables outside but most of the seating was inside. There's a ramp for those who cannot go up steps to the main dining area. We were seated right away. The ambiance felt like a new restaurant - a little stark and has that newish vibe. We ordered some chicken tenders, Grilled Caesar salad with chicken ( added the protein) and protein style burger - swapped out the fries for broccoli. The tenders and salad were good. The burger was a little disappointing. Very few restaurants handle protein style (without the bun) well. The burger came with some sliced pieces of lettuce on top and bottom instead of wrapped around the burger so it was difficult to eat it as a burger. There was sautéed onions on the burger which tasted great and saved the burger, imo. The burger itself was very bland the broccoli was just blanched and not steamed so you're basically getting somewhat raw broccoli with no flavor whatsoever. We also tried the raspberry ale. My husband said the raspberry flavor was just too overpowering in the taste profile. Service was relatively good. read more

On a weekend evening, my friends and I decided to stop by for a light dinner since we were in the area. Even though it was a nice day, we sat inside due to no seating being available outside. We tried the parmesan truffle fries perfectly crisp and the cheesy garlic bread was nice and fresh, that came with a really good dipping sauce. My guy had the seasonal oysters, which were decent. I went for the veggie hummus sandwich, it was pretty loaded and came with a creamy coleslaw, but the hummus itself felt a bit bland to me. My very honest opinion is the beer and food here are just okay, maybe average but the vibes are what make it a good stop. The service was also very quick and friendly, and the views into the bay amazing. There were 2 sea lions just hanging out that we could watch while having a beer and burgers. We stopped by for an early dinner on a recent Saturday and it was busy already! All the inside tables were filled and we'd have about a 20 minute wait. Thankfully there were patio seats available so we were able to be seated right away. It's got a beautiful setting, right on the water and a really laid back vibe. I got the Brew Burger and also got to sample the fish and chips and chicken strips (from the kid's menu). My burger was decent. Meaty for sure but overall nothing stood out about it. I probably should have ordered the fish and chips. Crispy outside, still moist inside, it was pretty tasty. The chicken strips from the kid's menu were tasty, I liked the seasoning! A solid spot with a good selection of beer, appetizers, and entrees. The outdoor seating faces the ocean, giving you a nice scenic backdrop while you eat. The fish and chips use an interesting batter which is very similar to what you'd find on a corn dog. It's not bad by any means, just not my personal preference. HMB Brewing is a solid food establishment with great ambiance, right across from the shoreline. Patio dining is excellent on a beautiful day, but they have adequate indoor seating and a nice bar, which is a great space to catch a game. We got oysters for the table, which were nice and fresh. I followed that with a spicy ahi sandwich, which was well composed and seasoned. To wash it down, I enjoyed a michelada and Vienna lager, which were both great and would order again. This is one of my favorite spots of all time. I've visited more than a dozen times now. It's that good. The setting is exquisite and the sunny patio is a perfect way to enjoy a summer day on the coast. It's situated right across from the harbor and the ambience is like something out of a Hemingway novel. Umbrellas provide shade if things get too hot and heat lamps will fight back the chill on colder days. The star here is the menu. I've tried so many things and I still want to try more. It's mostly seafood with seasonal catch of the day. You can also get a burger, which they do very well. Fried Artichoke Hearts. I ALWAYS get this one. Comes with a dipping aioli. Raw oysters. These are my favorite oysters in the bay area. And that's saying something. Ahi Poke. They keep it simple with just salt, sesame, chili oil, and house made tortilla chips. Monster burger. 1/2 pound of angus with gouda. Crom hears your prayers. Fish Tacos. Off the hook good with sauce and garnishes that make the fish the star. Beer steamed mussels. You can add fettucine for $3. It's heaven. Local craft beers from brew master James Costa. There's much more on the menu, but I haven't tried everything yet. Caveat. Go on a weekday. This place is PACKED on the weekend. The staff here is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Parking is tough on weekends, but easy on weekdays. read more

We haven't been to HMB Brewing Co. in a few years opting to go instead to Barbara's Fishtrap across the street, but pro-tip HMB Brewing Co. opens at 10 a.m. on the weekends! I got: Mai Tai: pineapple forward but very tasty Fresh squeezed Paloma: I really like this one. Love grapefruit flavor and it is also sweet but not too sweet. My friend got the watermelon cooler and blueberry gin sour. I was told they are pretty good. The prices are pretty fair considering the location. Also considering this is a brewing with specialty on beers, these are pretty good cocktails. Service is fast and efficient. Nice place to eat in Half Moon Bay. I still like Sam's Chowder house better but this is a good 2nd. The food was hot and fresh and came steaming. The seafood stew tasted very fresh and seasoned well. The sampler platter had a lot of food we couldn't even finish it! It seems worth it to get the sampler platter for $30 that it include fish and chips and jumbo prawns and calamari. Came with friends for a late lunch on Father's Day. The restaurant was busy but our wait wasn't too bad, maybe 15-20 min. We were seated next to the window overlooking the water, which was lovely. The waitress and other servers were very friendly and kind. We ordered beers (glasses were rather small), fried pickles, and half a dozen seasonal oysters to start. The fried pickles are cut into thin long slices and fried heavily, so they were akin to long pickle chips rather than spears in other locations. The oysters were delicious, sweet and fresh, with plenty of horseradish, cocktail sauce, and mignonette served alongside. I ordered mussels & fries with the optional fettucine for an additional $3 along with a cup of clam chowder. The chowder was potatoey and thick and served with two bags of oyster crackers but a bit bland. Not enough salt/seasoning/clams. The mussels were tiny, overcooked, and the fettucine was also overcooked and the noodles were flimsy and broken. The sauce they were in was thin and rather flavorless for me. My friends and I still enjoyed our time there, but I will definitely look into other items on the menu next time. read more
