They have their guacamole that has decreased in quality over time and I am impressed... something so simple that they had very good, they lowered quality! They used to do it with tomatoes, avocado and red onion with a nice dressing, now it missed the red onion, they put white onion and it has been most of the time soggy!! Why??? We decided to pop into this place out of the blue. The service was good and the server was very friendly and made recommendations along the way. We ordered the whole chicken for $22 dollars. We were surprise to see that for the price the chicken did not include any sides. We ordered the Yuca Frita and rice (both had to be paid additionally) and we ordered the queso frito as an appetizer. Despite of the pricing the food was very good, the rice had a nice touch of garlic and the texture was great. The yuca frita was good and crispy and the cheese was good as well. I could say those 3 exceeded our expectations. We had the Papelon to drink, which to my surprise was not too sweet and we enjoyed it a lot. The chicken was pretty good as well and well seasoned, so in regards of the food there were no complains. I could say that the only thing that was not entirely positive was that the chicken for that price came by itself, usually in most places you get at least 2 sides with a whole chicken. They have a special lunch menu, but I ordered from the regular menu: Pechuga de Pollo (Paillard), with rice and black beans. The portion was generous, three breasts and a bowl of rice and a bowl of beans, probably enough for two people! For about $12 bucks! The place is nice and service was good. One warning: tip is included, and note that the credit card slip prints "total before tip" which was not true in my case, the total had the tip included, if you are distracted you add another 15% to the total. Was in the Doral area and stopped by Granpollo for some lunch and a Peroni. I was not disappointed at all with this spot. I was seated right away and the hostess was very nice. I noticed that this place is very family oriented and had great seating. To start I ordered a cold peroni and went straight to ordering my lunch which was a grilled chicken breast with their homemade cole slaw and fried tostones. It didn't take long for my food to get there and it just blessed my soul. Seriously this food was made with so much love. Dali G (another yelper) was there and ordered the same just different sides. I can definitely say that the quality of this place brings me back to my roots (and childhood). Being Venezuelan I can appreciate the authenticity of the food and environment of this restaurant. We started off with "arepitas fritas" and they were delicious. I felt as if I was back in my country. They were fresh and so tasty. We ordered two whole chickens, aguacate and palmito salad, yuca frita and other side dishes that didn't disappoint. Every single plate was cooked to perfection and the salad really left us all impressed since it had enough ingredients and a very generous portion. The "guasacaca" was also very good and compliments each plate very well. The service was EXCELLENT. Our waiter had such a positive and helpful attitude. She checked up on us several times throughout our meal and made sure we were completely satisfied. I wish I would've remembered her name, but she was great!
