Today I had taken a chance and went in with some friends and I love how you could order from the outside and in! It almost had a similar feeling to Boomers. The food seemed a little overpriced for the burgers, which were thin and fries were your average fries. But it tasted like a decent burger and fries. The inside had a fun, older look to it but in the best way possible. The service was excellent, I could not praise it enough they were very quick with the food and it felt like only a minute had passed since we ordered. My first time trying a burger here. At first the place reminded me of another long time local chain a little further south. Simple menu with a few options including a chicken burger, corn dogs, onion rings, and fish on Fridays. They also have several flavors of shakes and some indoor seating. I chose the cheeseburger deluxe without lettuce, which really just added tomatoes. There was mustard, relish and pickles along with a sesame seed bun. Good size, but if hungrier I'd go with the double double. I had the food to go, but was home in a few minutes. The meat was juicy but I don't feel like it make the meal soggy. The onion rings are breaded while I normally like the battered ones more. They were crispy but not over cooked. Actually I was impressed by the flavor and the tartar sauce was really good. This was a GEM of a find! A local Bellingham resident recommended Grant's Burger and we are SO glad to have found it. The prices were very reasonable. Ordered the Grant's Special which included a deluxe burger, fries and drink for 9.99. Burger had all the fixings and the "special sauce" was SO good! With a side order of onion rings, it was even better. The onion rings were crispy and hit the spot. Friendly and helpful staff made this an A+ experience. I like this place. The look, the staff and the food. I read that some others had bad experiences, that was not the case in mine. The fry's are on par with Micky D's (and we all know they are the best). I had the cheeseburger deluxe and suddenly I understood why there were multiple Grant's locations. I spent 8:50 for the deluxe and a small fry. I felt like it would be twice that at the Golden Arches. I'm definitely coming back here next time I'm in the area. read more

I just spent $26.00 at the Birchwood location. Food was cold, burger was a soggy mess. Didnt complain to the two people working there as it would just fall on deaf ears. it was not busy, no one there when we arrived and only three customers before our food came. I don't claim to be a food expert but I did own and operate Barters drive in for many year. I hope the owner sees this because she deserves bette. it's a darn hard business and very competitive. If you think McDonalds has good hamburgers then you might like Grant's. I would not recommend the burgers. The meat tastes like the cheapest frozen patty you could buy and are lacking any flavor other than the salt they put on them. The buns get soggy since they do not lightly toast the buns (easy fix to the problem). The cheese is better than McDonalds. The size is small as well. Fries were average for me not bad or good. I want to like this local chain but nothing has changed in the 4-6 times I have eaten at the different locations over the last 10 years its always subpar. Just visited Grant's for the second time for takeaway. Staff were young, sweet, deeply apologetic, and frazzled, totally abandoned by their manager and with insufficient buns to fulfill orders a full hour before close. Ordered two burgers, both with mods, both mods ignored. Ordered two orders of fries, but failed to check the bag after the 35 minute wait and only got one. Decent fries, but a totally carbonized burger. I noticed the "We (Heart) Our Police" sign in the window and a fairly unhinged Help Wanted notice full of odes to "self direction" and "accepting responsibility". I get the strong sense that this fish rotted at the head and the owners are stingy absentee tyrants who exploit staff too young and inexperienced to pursue other options. In the final analysis, go to the Doug's truck wherever it happens to be, or to McDonalds, which seems to have quality control and a floor for staff misery. I won't be back. read more

Went to Grants for a second effort, because boy, would it be great to Love something on the menu at my closest to home food joint. Having reviewed the burger as "nothing special" last trip, I decided on the "chicken burger" with my first order of fries this trip. I would state that these folks do achieve consistent middle of the road quality. The sandwich rolls are all a bit too much bread. There's good about that, at Five Guys the roll doesn't hold up long enough so that you're left holding slabs of meat and condiments. These, however, make the food a bit to bready. The chicken came dressing with a mayo based lettuce type slaw, a bit too heavy on the mayo, but not objectionable. The fries seemed straight from a freezer bag (I managed a McD's for 2 years, I know these fries). In summary, once again, nothing dramatically wrong with the food. The price point puts them in competition with the better burger joints (both chain and local) in town, but the quality isn't quite in the same league. read more

She was impatient when she had to point see the options for drinks. And when we asked about differences between the burgers, she rolled her eyes and answered so rudely. My one star rating has nothing to do with the food served. Actually, their Friday Fried Fish is quite good. It has a thin panko type coating that allows the taste of the fish to shine. Unfortunately that same fish is the center of my bad experience with this restaurant. A week prior to tonight's event, I asked an employee if it was possible to order the four piece fish without the fries. I was told yes and the price would be $7.99 without the fries as opposed to $9.99 for the fish with fries. So, tonight I called ahead and ordered one fish with fries and one without fries. I said, "so that's $7.99 for one and $9.99 for the other?" The reply was, "yeah, that's right." When I arrived a few minutes later to pick up the order, I questioned the total on the register asking, "what are you charging me?" I was told that it was going to be $9.99 for both orders. Upon my explaining that was not what I had been told five minutes before when I placed the orders on the phone, the reply was basically, we don't care. We tried this for the first time today. First a warning. Their prices are higher than what you see on their website. The Big Bun which was listed as $7.99 on their website was $9.99! At that price you can get a better burger at Denny's with fries. The burger was large but not impressive for a supposedly 1/2 pounder. The fries were standard supermarket type string fries as were the onion rings. Overall we had 1 Big Bun burger and 1 cheeseburger deluxe, 1 fries, 1 small onion rings and it came out to just over $20. A bit overpriced IMO. The burgers were just so-so. Nice remodel - place looks fresh. Lots of parking. We only had the milkshakes but the small was pretty darn big and the fresh strawberries and hard ice cream were awesome. There is lots of parking around the back and even an entrance there, which is helpful because so far, this place has been packed and the lot has been full. Outside has 5 large picnic tables and umbrellas and fresh mulch around. The prices are very friendly. We are definitely going to return to check out the fish and the onion rings!! read more

Meh, my son and I were waking for a haircut so we order a corn dog for him and I got the double double. The corn dog was fine. The double double was gross. Bun was totally smashed. No flavor. The sauce is bland and sloppy. The fries are just straight from the bag into the fryer. No salt no flavor. So we then thought this place must be known for their ice cream/ milkshakes. Gave the new Grant's location three tries. About the best thing I can say is the prices are relatively cheap. But, you get what you pay for. "OK" burgers. The third visit, my fries were cold.
