What a complete disaster. This is for their Food truck, not physical location. 3 things important about serving from a food truck; it has to be fast, easy to eat and great food. The completely forgot about the first 2. Long line so figured it's probably good and looking at reviews thought it would be worth the wait. 45 minutes wait in line. They were completely overwhelmed and lady who took my order (BTW, I'm a very heterosexual man, but there are a lot of kids around and if you're going to lean forward to take orders, how about wearing a shirt that doesn't let me see down to your belly button and all the things you stuff in your bra, such as lighters, etc.) got very snappy with everyone. As you can see from video I posted where I asked people how long they had been waiting, it was over 2 HOURS for most. At that point, all of us should have had our food refunded or at least some type of discount, but nope. Never offered. After an hour, when I went and asked the woman who took my order how long it would take, she said "in a while. I don't know. We're busy". Guess what. That's your JOB to know. They never gave anyone a receipt, just asked us to give them our names, and when we would ask how long it would be, they asked for our name and then asked what we ordered. Seriously? IT SHOULD BE ON THE TICKET WITH THE NAME I JUST GAVE YOU!!! FYI, I gave them the name "YO" to make it easy to remember but apparently, it was too difficult. There were over 30 people waiting and the crowd was getting angry!!! Finally, another woman showed up that got things moving. Whoever you are in the red shirt, thank you! I think we'd still be waiting if it wasn't for you. You should have been there an hour before then. Now the food. Remember the easy to eat part? Obviously it's a food truck, so no crab pliers given. The other food truck actually cracked them before serving them so people could just peel them open. Nothing done here so it was impossible to eat (big crab legs were easier but still not ideal). Had to take them home to eat which defeats the purpose of a food truck. The blue crabs had almost no meat in them. Complete waste of money. The crab legs were actually big and at least tasted good which is why it's 2 stars and not one. Based on the service alone and lack of care to try to make things right with customers, I'm leery to even go to their physical location. If you like snow, crab, shrimp and garlic butter, and this is the place for you. Right now they only do takeout at their Largo location or their Food Truck at various local events. The first time we found them was at the Safety Harbor Arts and Wine festival. We ordered the snow crab cluster and shrimp. They give you a choice of Grant's (should be famous) garlic "Stutta Butta" It's probably called that because it is such delicious butter that it will make you stutter. And they give you a choice of regular or spicy. I must caution you that you'll probably need one of those plastic bibs and about 20 napkins and even then it's still very messy. But it is so worth it! The snow, crabs and shrimp were drenched in that spicy garlic butter sauce. As were yummy boiled potatoes, and corn. Everything was so good. There, Clearwater, brick, and mortar location. Blue crabs 9/10 I only scored it 7 because they don't give you an option to pick large or small crabs and they were VERY small. But I ate every last one! We got two snow crabs and 5 shrimp with garlic sauce. They do give a little more leg for us. The sauce really get inside the meat. Very juicy. The shrimp is fresh and easy peeling. I rarely leave reviews but since I left a praise report years ago on how delicious the food is, I now must leave a review on how poorly their customer service is. From day one they have always had terrible customer service and I've ALWAYS over liked it because the food is amazing however I cannot continue to be mistreated and made to feel as if I'm an inconvenience for patronizing their business. The husband and daughter is both ignorant and illiterate with no sense of business intelligence. I made it perfectly clear that I was placing two separate orders and that I would like everything bagged separately once I get to the restaurant they charge my card for the whole order which came up to $177 even after I made it perfectly clear that it was two separate orders. I proceeded to ask for a receipt with the breakdown of the two separate orders, they refused and instead brought me a menu and told me to calculate it myself. The husband wanted to argue with me and continuously repeat what I specifically said when placing my order as if I wasn't aware of my request. I even found myself pleading with the husband telling him I did not want to argue and if it was such an inconvenience I could even simply take a picture of the handwritten tickets that have the totals at the bottom, again he refused. I'm not really sure why or what was the purpose in him refusing me a breakdown of the orders when I made it clear that the orders were for multiple people and I just wanted to make sure that I got my money back. The visit was solely to doba taste test of different crab trays- this location is in Largo and as we were about to enter a young gentleman came out to confirm if we had a call in order for pick up or not. They weren't allowing anyone in due to Covid which I can appreciate. He took our order outside and advised it worked be 15 to 20 minutes. There didn't seem to be a lot of people waiting but hey, who knows how many to go orders they had before we arrived. The food was just ok to me. Lacked flavor but the crabs were meaty. I started to give this place 1 star due to the lack of good customer service when I first visited but things were much better this second go round. The two times I ordered from Grants Seafood & Grille they had children working the front counter, so you can only imagine how that went. I will say the prices are some what on the steep side for what you are getting but the food has always been fresh and flavorful. I usually order one snow crab, shrimp, and sides which includes a piece of sausage, a piece of corn, and a few potatoes. This will usually run me around $16-$17 which is pricey compared to what you can get for that price at a seafood spot in Saint Petersburg. Nevertheless, I will continue to visit Grant's Seafood & Grille since the food is good and it beats driving all the way to the South side of St. Pete for crabs. After a few minutes of ordering I set out to pick up the order. Due to the virus, they asked for the make and model of the vehicle so they can bring it out to you! They might want to think about keeping that policy, it's very convenient for all. Anyways, after my 15 min drive, I get the the restaurant that is in a small shopping plaza. I honestly passed it bc the sign isn't that big. Note to owners, get a bigger sign. Your food is really that good... people need to know where you are so they can get them some!!!! After a few min of waiting, our food comes out and we are on our way! The smell... OH MY! I was salivating! I washed my hands and dug in. I almost forgot to take a picture. It's all seasoned really well. I don't even like red potatoes, normally, but these are great (and cut as medallions). Really liked that one of the blue crabs was small, so they threw in an extra. We ordered Blue crabs and a combo meal. Our food was luke warm at best...it was good (not great) but the "stuttah butter" was delicious. Unfortunately, the employees (young boy and young girl) were NOT pleasant AT ALL. It was like our presence was bothering them. There was an older gentleman with a glittery Grant's tshirt that came out from the kitchen (who I attempted to smile and wave to)...but he just looked right through me. So I'm guessing he taught his 2 children (employees) how NOT to engage with customers. Not a word or smile or any interaction from all 3 employees. It was so strange and uncomfortable. I had three succulent seasoned Blue Crabs with Shrimp, potato's and cob corn, and two neck bones. Everything complimented each other and it was pure heaven. Today I ordered a tray of neck bones with cob corn and potatos and added a few side dishes. Two boiled eggs, sausage, extra corn, and their better believe its hot hot sauce. The portions are more than filling. I always try and support local business, even I will pay more to support them. However I will never go to or support this place again ! I ordered two platters for pick up. Got home and the one platter was completely wrong. I called and they said bring it back. Items were missing from the order and they would not replace them, no coleslaw, no tartar sauce, no cocktail sauce. The fried shrimp was burnt, french fries were soggy and cold, and they gave me the wrong fish, and the fish was over cooked and cold. I took it all back and they refused to do anything about it !!! We often travel to Grants from Orlando Florida and the food is always excellent. However, last Friday my fiancée and sister and me stopped by, placed an $82 order of a items and tipped his daughter. We checked over the order and we missing (3) sausages. We bought it to one of the employees attention that was walking out of the restaurant and Mr. Grant arrived to my car in such a rude and unprofessional demeanor. In loud tone he stated, "Now what's the problem". I stated to him that we were missing (3) sausages and I showed him the receipt. He stated, " there can't be any problem, I fixed this order myself." We went back and forth until my sister, who flew in from Detroit, stated' Oh my God, just forget it due to being upset at Mr Grants attitude. I'm sorry I even mentioned this place to her. Mr. Grant walked off in a hostel manner and came back and stated, Here you go, God bless y'all. Everyone knows what that means when you say this when you're upset and being facetious. This means we are lying and take the (3) sausages. In spite of never seeing the inside of the restaurant and having to wait for food in the parking lot, we gave it the benefit of the doubt. We've had previous incidents of rudeness with his daughter and talked about that in the past as well. I will never visit this establishment again. Amazingly good! My crab legs were meaty, cooked right, seasoned well. The potatoes were just full of flavor drenched in the sauce. I devoured my food even had a poundcake as well. Will definitely make the trip over the bridge to come out here again. read more
