I can't believe I never knew about this beachside restaurant in Laguna until now. It's a great spot to take in the beautiful ocean views while you eat. It's Laguna so parking can be difficult but it's possible to find metered parking on the nearby cross streets if you don't mind walking a little. We opted to use their valet parking but it's $6 per hour. The restaurant is surrounded by cute shops and there's an area where they have live music on certain nights. There are a decent amount of tables outside with umbrellas for shade. If you come for happy hour on a weekday, it's only available in the upper area by the bar. We came on a Tuesday for happy hour (3- 6pm), so cocktails were $2 off and starters were half priced. They don't have that many cocktails to choose from, so I just got their red Seasonal Sangria ($16). It didn't come in a wine glass which was a little odd but it was fine. We shared their Shrimp Ceviche ($23) and Bruschetta ($19). The ceviche was okay but the bruschetta was excellent. They also had taco specials (I assume because it was Tuesday) so they were $4- 5 à la carte. I tried the Mahi Mahi and Shrimp tacos and surprisingly really liked them. The Mahi Mahi tasted fresh and so did the corn tortillas. I would definitely come back for Taco Tuesday and anytime I'm looking to dine with an ocean view. read more

The views were incredible, no doubt, but the trick is you can't enjoy those views and the happy hour at the same time :-/ I tried the Mahi fish tacos and they were pretty bland, the ceviche does come in a big serving size, but the prices seem a bit steep for food quality. We ordered the Surfin Cowboy $26.00 A 1/2 lb wagyu patty topped with melty pepper jack cheese, crispy bacon, onion rings, and tangy BBQ sauce on a brioche bun. And Macadamia Chicken $33.00 Succulent chicken breast crusted with macadamia, with a delicate champagne cream sauce and garnished with fresh mango and papaya. The views are great at this restaurant. It was super sunny which made it hot but, the server accommodated us and put up the umbrellas which made it comfortable. The Cliff is a special place in Laguna Beach. The restaurant and bar have the most spectacular ocean views you can find in SoCal. If grabbing a great meal and cocktail while watching a glorious sunset is what you're looking for you should run to the Cliff when you're in Laguna Beach. Sorry I didn't get shots of the actual restaurant but the sunset distracted me. We had a delicious shrimp cocktail with our top shelf margarita. It was perfect. They added a float of Grand Marnier and Mezcal on our Cliff Margarita and it was amazing. The service was some of the best I've had in a long time. The waiter brought it and it wasn't the beer my husband ordered. When he called the waiter over to tell him, the waiter said it was the same brewery. No apology or offer to get another beer. Then our food came. My husband's pasta was warm. He asked the waiter to please bring it back hot. It came back warm again. My sandwich was on Squaw bread but it was a bit stale. My wife and I had a nice mid-week sunset dinner here during a freak heatwave in February! You can park on the street, but PCH was so busy, we happily paid the $6/hr for valet. The menu is simple but has a variety of options, including a menu for pets. I had a spicy chicken sandwich with fries and it was pretty good (but not amazing). My wife had a 1/2 turkey sandwich and small clam chowder (both good). We saw lots of people here just for drinks and appetizers. Considering the view and location, prices were very fair. Service was friendly and quick, but not memorable. But let's be honest, you're not coming here for an elevated dining experience -- you're coming here for the stellar vista! Perched on a cliff between Main Beach and Thalia St., you have clear views of Laguna Beach and out to Catalina Island. Stunning views, amazing sunsets, delicious food and attentive staff. I hosted a group of nine on a Tuesday night and it was packed! A bunch of large groups arrived at the same time to see the sunset which slowed the ordering process but once our waited got to our table, the service was amazing. The food and drinks were delivered quickly and the staff paid close attention to our needs for the rest of the night. Many of us had the Mahi Mahi tacos which were spectacular. I will start my review by saying, you do not dine here for the food, but for the view! The view is incredible here especially if you can snag a table around sunset!! Usually I feel meh about the food I order, while it's good, it never blows me away but that's okay because the gorgeous view of the ocean does that for me! I ordered Shrimp Ceviche, Ahi Poke and Clam Chowder. I am a Clam Chowder snob honestly it's one of my favorite foods. I would rate The Cliff Clam Chowder a 6/10, it's not very flavorful and too buttery, but it does the job if you're looking for a warm bowl of soup. The Shrimp Ceviche was good and very citrusy which I like but I did not like the chips were colored with food dye. 6/10 The Poke was good! It was on the sweeter side which usually I don't like but it was nice. The chips that came with it were yummy! 7/10. The view,,, 10/10!! I recommend this restaurant for the view! But that did little toward suppressing our appetite. We were ornery hungry. Let's see what the Cliff has to offer to keep this perfect day, perfect. At first glance the menu felt a bit heavy. Heavy as in, the weight it'll put on the pocketbook. Actually, I should say, how light the balance on your checkbook will be when all is said and done. You're going to pay for the view. Fortunately though, your food won't further tarnish the experience. In fact, it's an additional ray of sunshine. At our table a couple of chicken sandwiches, a salad, burger, and chicken fingers were there for us to enjoy. Enjoy, we did. Very good. All were pleased to the point of finishing everything. Well, not everything. A finger of chicken was left behind. And no, not the middle finger. My granddaughter would never do such a thing. I might, but not her. Squint your eyes when looking to the right of your selected menu item, and forge forward with your meal. The sun will still shine, and the breeze still waft. Quick Tip: The only negative with our outing at the Cliff was that an ant found its way onto the table. I wasn't going to mention it, but my daughter insisted that I find a flaw. She says that my reviews are much too glowing.....I guess that she missed the review of Cracker Barrel in West Memphis Arkansas. Talk about a tremendous fail. What a fantastic dining experience! Since they don't take reservations, we got on the waiting list before we left. Our table was ready just a few minutes after we arrived. Perfect seating right along the cliff overlooking the ocean just in time for the sunset. Driving through Laguna Beach can be challenging as well as parking, but there was valet parking available at the venue for only $6. Bunch of cool shops and beach vibe in and around the restaurant. Large portions of food, very fresh and tasty, and very attentive staff. Will definitely be back and will be bringing new people to share this experience. read more

First things first the service was outstanding our waitress was very kind and knowledgeable on the food, we inquired about food items and she was able to easily answer our questions. The ambiance is amazing you have a view of the ocean and the beach it is out of this world and on a clear day you can see out to sea. The burger was legit one of the best burgers I've had in a while. With the burger hype going on with smashed burgers it's good to sometimes just have a good old fashioned burger, the flavor was locked into the juicy patty I got it medium. The sweet potato fries were bomb dot com. Everything was just perfect, my fiancée normally does not eat her whole meal but she destroyed her fried chicken sandwich and spoke highly of it. They even had buffalo sauce to go with it , she was unsure they would have it and they did so that was extra points from us for sure. I highly recommended anyone visiting Laguna Beach area or living there to try this place, it is a whole vibe and the service was great. As the other reviews suggest this is the spot to take your friends and family for the amazing views. The sunset and lighter day views are the best. There are a bunch of little shops near by as well you can walk around. First time having dinner here and it was great for a Saturday night the wait was only about 20 mins. The poke appetizer was amazing I would definitely recommend. Also, the Laguna brewing beer was very refreshing. My friend and I chose the fish tacos and fish & chips they were good very filling. The "waiting list app" didn't work to well, or I misunderstood the directions We got a spot 120 minutes wait and headed down. Arrived 20 minutes early and was told the 120 started then. The view from the patio is stunning! What pleasantly surprised me was that the food was just as outstanding. I had the Fish and Chips.
