It was probably one of the only hot dogs I've ever eaten that I would order again. Overall, this small restaurant was absolutely the best find since moving to Orlando. My husband and I were looking for a new place to try for dinner in Altamonte Springs, so I consulted Yelp and found Grattin dog. As I'm half Colombian and love cheese - we couldn't pass this place up! Grattin Dog was a bit tricky to locate. They're in the same lot as a Citgo gas station off of State Road 436/Semoran Blvd right at the rail road tracks. It's attached to a few other small business locales and there's various options for outdoor seating. Inside, there's also a small counter with 4 stools that can be used for eating. The establishment is small, but they use the space to its fullest (plus, we observed most people to get their food to go). Once you place your order at the counter, they ask for your cell phone number so that they can text you once your order is ready. My husband ordered the mix burger (a beef patty and a chicken patty topped with a variety of sauces and crunchy potato sticks, lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions and cheese) combo. The combo came with fries and a drink. My husband's first word to describe his meal was "fresh," which is how I would describe my chicken burger. I liked how the chicken breast was pounded flat as it covered the surface area of the bun (so chicken in each bite) and there was more room for the toppings. I also ordered a side of fries and a chicken empanada. Both were fried but were crispy and not oily. The fries are good and crispy. My husband loved his double burger, although it was so big that you couldn't get a full bite it was either the top or bottom but one full bite wasn't happening. The wings were basic. The beef empanadas are pulled beef which was nice but they need some salt & maybe a sauce on the side. However, I would order them again. The service was ok, not much to it though because the place is the size of a closet and they text you when your order is ready. There are NO restrooms and they'll try to send you to the gas station they share a parkinglot with BUT they say the restroom is out of order. Also, there's no real parking. And the wings were really interesting, with a crunchy sort of breading that wasn't heavy or overly fried. They were just damn tasty and well done. More good news, they do have some very Colombian things on the menu. Like the guava cheesecake and flan which we ordered and scarfed down with the quickness. In short, this is the kind of street-food, quick-serve kinda place that foodies live for. It's what Orlando does best. International food served by talented, dedicated chefs. This place is legit. So good. And great value. It's a hole in the wall place. There are a few stools against a countertop along the wall, otherwise two picnic tables outside to eat on. It was a windy day so we ate inside along the wall. I wanted a hot dog but the burgers looked amazing. The Grattin Burger was enormous. I could not take a bite of the top to the bottom. I had to take multiple bites to get some of the egg, bacon, burger, bun and cheese all together. It's huge. The fries were seasoned and salted. While ketchup wasn't necessary, it did sweeten them just right. Mom had the single burger and removed some of the bun so she could finish the burger meat. She did not finish her fries. She's not the hungriest of people but for once, she actually impressed me with how much she ate!!! She loved the burger; especially how it was seasoned. She said it was real meat! Dad had the double. He ate the whole thing and all his fries, including some of mine lol. He said next time he would get a single because the double burger was so big, but the fact that it was only $2 more, made it so much more appealing in regard to value. The tres leches was pretty much drowned in liquid. More like a drinkable dessert. Not my fave. Very sweet. This place has no alcohol despite the drink cooler housing many suspicious cans and bottles- they're not alcoholic. Too bad. I had a colombiana and it was way too sweet. Next time I'll have water. The name of the business is Grattin Dog but by the owners' suggestion, we ended up getting some burgers. I also had a fun apple soda that was imported so that was cool. The burgers were excellent. Clearly hand-pattied as you can see by the photos and very good quality meat. They didn't look great visually necessarily as far as symmetrical, but the flavor was excellent. They even had one with the cheese cooked to the outside of the bun and a fried egg inside. They all had this little potato stick type things on them as well which were super tasty. This video also was one of our best performing on TikTok haha. The price was solid, the people were nice, and the food was excellent. Last stop for Burger Week: Grattin Dog. I've passed it so many times, and never would have thought to stop in. But lo and behold, there is a small plaza behind the Citgo on the corner of 436 and Ronald Reagan with this little gem. The Grattin Burger was on deck for tasting, and needless to say it was quite tasty! I got it medium well, and it came with a fried egg, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, sweet onions, potato sticks, and three different sauces. Lastly, mozzarella melted on top of the bun! That did it for me! Yes, please, and thank you!! I also got a side of fries, which were ok. This isn't necessarily ideal for dining in. They have a few stools inside and outside.
