We requested a complete tear-off and new gutter installation from Graves Brothers Home Improvement. Kristopher Oaks chose to send out his lesser qualified Oaks Roofing and Siding instead. GAF, the shingle supplier for Graves' & Oaks', told us that Oaks Roofing and Siding does not/did not meet their GAF President's Club criteria, while Graves' was at the time and that was who we hired. What was supposed to be a one-day installation has now gone on for longer than a year! After the terrible installation we checked our security footage and found that an Oaks' roofer urinated and took photographs around our property, far away from the roof. We believe the value if this service to be so low that we plan to install another new roof soon. Kristopher Oaks is currenting trying to expand Oaks/Graves into several other states while stupidly dropping the ball in his hometown area. read more

I made the mistake of hiring these jokers and they completely screwed us over. Ordered and installed the wrong product and then threatened to take our house when we told them we would settle this in court. We explained that they are to NEVER set foot on our property again and they have the nerve to show up now a 2nd time trying to sell me a new roof. Unbelievable. They obviously don't care about the customer and they certainly don't follow the law. read more

We ordered 3 patio doors on 1/9/25 from Graves Bros. owned by Kristopher Oaks. We were told they would be the same as our existing door except vinyl instead of wood. We were never shown a picture of the door but were assured they would be the same size and style. We submitted $9700 as our deposit. When the doors were delivered on 3/27/25 and one was partially installed we noticed that there was a 3 inch threshold lip which was not there on our old doors which were flush to the floor. (The door was also smaller than our previous door.) My husband is 81 years old and this lip is a significant tripping hazard! We immediately halted further work. That was 10 weeks ago and there has been no settlement. They want to either come back and install the doors and collect the remaining money or leave us the doors (which we cannot use) keep our deposit and cancel the contract. Had a new roof installed 4 years ago for $17,000, and the shingles are falling off because of faulty installation (not secured properly). I called, and they are coming to "fix" the problem in a week or so. If they don't check the entire roof and fix problem areas, I am going to have to take further action. They push their workers to finish jobs quickly, thus they don't have time to pay attention to the placement of every nail. For $17,000, I expected my roof to at least be as good as the one they replaced (which never leaked or lost shingles after over 30 years!!!). So be aware, supervise the installation yourself, and pay attention to where they are placing the nails!! I wish I had! I hope they recitify the situation, but I fear they will just stick a shingle where they fell off and assume that the rest of the roof was installed to code. I am not making that assumption. If they check the entire roof, I will post a new, more positive, review. The Guatamalan workers who did the job were extremely hard-working and probably knew what they were doing, but pressure was no doubt put on them to finish the job quickly - and they want to keep their jobs (even if they probably earn nothing and get no benefits). In any case, I do not believe this is their fault. The company needs to get its act together and actually fulfill the promises that their smooth salespeople lay out in detail over the course of a very long meeting at your house (Chad in this case - no longer with the company and who I did not see after I signed the contract). The low ratings on Yelp surprises me as my experience was the complete opposite. From the initial conversation with Michelle on the phone, I knew this was the company I wanted to go with. She was professional and very responsive. She gave me a window (8am - 12pm) of the following week and kept in contact with me after I've sent pictures of the repair needed per her request. James gave me a phone call roughly around 10am and was told he'd be over in about 25 minutes. He came right on the dot. James was professional, friendly and answered all my questions regarding my issue and others. Gave me great insight and advice on future home improvements. The quote was spot on in terms of what I've been told, what I've thought and very reasonable. The quality of work was phenomenal and Graves Bros. just received another customer for any future home improvements and fixing. I highly recommend this company and would happily request specifically James for any future home-fixings and improvements. 10/10 read more

Graves home improvements is putting new roofs on some of the houses in my neighborhood. They are not putting a new roof on my house, but their unprofessional conduct is having an impact on my home. They have damaged my lawn by driving on it with their trucks, there is debris all over the neighborhood, and the workers are rude and disrespectful. They have driven over my lawn including areas with sprinkler heads for the irrigation system. There is noticeable damage to my lawn, and possibly damage to the sprinkler system as well. There is all kinds of debris throughout the neighborhood. Orange peels, potato chips, pieces of old roof, packaging from the new roofing materials, and more. The neighborhood is a mess. The workers seem to dislike the residents in this neighborhood. Tonight I caught one of the workers intentionally throwing debris into my yard. He threw a piece of white plastic packaging from the roofing materials. It is beyond my comprehension how anyone can run a business this way. read more

NEVER WOULD I EVER recommend this company and if you pick them, they will fail you!!!! 10yrs ago we had our roof done by them, 4yrs into it our ceilings began to leak. fast forward to now... I called them to evaluate our problem on our roof. the roof was so decayed he was peeling shingles, tarp, and the wood off with his hands only to find the joists that hold up our roof were rotted also. they claimed to have fixed the problem and left. our ceiling is leaking more now, no flashing was applied on the initial 10yrs ago install and I'm left with my roof and exterior walls completely decayed by caked on mold. this is NOT just my situation. I have asked other customers and they are having issues also. dont trust this company.... I thought I could! They are NOT taking responsiblity for any of this.... they even had the audacity to send me a bill for the repair that THEY caused! happy to talk to any potential customers and provide you with ALL details! read more

While they completed our new roof installation in 1-day, the dumpster used by Graves Brothers did some damage to our 1-year old driveway. After 2-weeks of trying to get a response, someone from Graves finally came, took some pictures (which I had previously supplied) and made a few phone calls (presumably to the dumpster company). I was called back and the Graves Brother manager was trying to convince me that based on Google Earth photos, the driveway had a pre-existing sunken area (which had been repaired w/ the new driveway). Very disappointing service - would not recommend using them. read more

Like another yelper, Im surprised at the low star ratings. Makes me think someone doesn't like the owners. Hired them to replace the roof on my detached garage. Not a hugh job, but needed to be done. (I DONT climb on roofs anymore!). Aaron came out quickly and gave me a great quote on the job. Really spent some time seeing what needed to be done. Its a 30 year old roof so I knew it needed a tear off. Matt and Flakito were the crew that did the work. Friendly, kept me informed as to what was going on. It was done, literally in 3 1/2 hours! Complete tear off, replaced decking that needed replacements, re shingled! Left NO mess, no trash. Showed extreme care for my wife's garden area next to the garage. We have used Graves Brothers several times in the past; they sided our house, insulated our attic, replaced windows. They always gave a good price and did god work. Last time we needed work we didn't even bother getting other quotes since we trusted Graves. So when we needed a new roof, we called Graves first. After that experience, it's obvious that something at Graves has changed, and I suspect it is now owned by somebody else. The salesman came over, and it seems all they sell for roofing now is a top-of-the-line shingle (which is more than we wanted or needed). A 50 year guarantee, in my opinion, is ridiculous. Anything over 20-25 years is just blowing smoke. His lame attempts at "building value" were also classic hard-sell techniques, but the worst part was how he padded the estimate either through incompetence or dishonesty. He claimed that we had a full underlay of cedar, which for is essentially unheard of in a post-war house. What we actually had was just a starter strip of cedar, not a full underlay. This would make THOUSANDS of dollars difference in a full tear-off. The difference on cost between his estimate and the one we got from another well-established and honest roofer was $10k. Yes, you read that right, TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. I have the paperwork here to prove it, if anybody is interested in seeing it. I can't say for certain whether their workmanship is still as good as it used to be, but after having them try to bamboozle me out of the cost of a decent used car, I'm through with them FOREVER. I've recommended Graves to people in the past, but now I wouldn't suggest calling them for anything at all. Shame on you, Graves, for trying to gouge a long-time customer out of a huge amount of money. We trusted your honesty, and this is how you repay customer loyalty? read more

Wow, talk about a place to avoid at all costs. I have had an ongoing saga with these guys for over a month. JUST TO GET AN ESTIMATE! They sent a guy out to talk to me about my bathroom and siding a month ago and he said I'd here from him the next week and then he ghosts me like it was a bad date. I call, and I call AND I CALL. I get told a supervisor was going to call me back, never happened. Got told the guy who came out would call me, also didn't happen. 3 weeks after coming up he did email me and promised to have the numbers on Monday. Monday was a week ago today and not a word. This company is unprofessional, unreliable and will happily waste your time. Avoid at all costs. read more

They're also known as Oak construction or something like that. They may have changed their name because of such poor reviews. Not sure can't speak to that. But what I can speak to is a run around. I spoke with three different people trying to get some idea of an estimate and they would give me a run around. They could not give me an estimate down to $100. It was pretty straightforward job of cutting out a piece of drywall and replacing it and patching it. They wanted 2 people to come which it's a one person job and on top of that they couldn't tell me within $100 how much it would be after sending pictures. They kept saying I will have somebody call you to give you a more exact amount, but the next person that called gave me the same old spiel. They insisted on setting up an appointment and said they would get back to me within closer estimate but never did. They're sweet as pie on the phone, but their process is set up in a way that is ready to take advantage. read more

here's my Graves review: TL;DR: Graves Brothers is great at making a sale, telling you they will do all the right things, but they perform work very quickly WITH errors, and do not return to fix them for months after installation. Post-sale response is very poor. We would not recommend them. We used Graves Brothers to replace our roof and installed gutter leaf protection based on reviews we've read and positive recommendations from friends. Pricing was decent for our sized home. I have waited for them to attempt to take care of everything before leaving this review, but things are taking MUCH longer than expected and we certainly are dissatisfied after repeated calls expressing our dissatisfaction and attempts to get things reconciled with little or no effort from Graves to get things resolved. Premise: we had mold/mildew in our attic from 2 bathroom fans venting into the attic instead of through the roof vent for an unknown number of years. Both were connected to a tee, so venting was additionally poor. The roof deck was rotting, especially where the roof meets the chimney. We have trees in our property and constantly clogged gutters. Quotation: new tear-off roof, 100% of decking replaced on main house, close gable vents to use soffit/ridge vents, ridge vent for garage, upstairs bathrooms get separate vents, install gutter leaf protection. Day-of Roof Installation: It took one day to complete the entire roof. Started at 7:30am, finished at 6:30pm. Received call from the site foreman about some gable vents, he took care of it. Day-of Gutter Leaf Protection Installation: Completed 3 days after the roof. They arrived sometime mid-morning and completed mid-afternoon Issues: 1. Roof: finished the garage roof with no ridge vent. 2. Gutter Leaf Protection: uneven, pitched toward house, wavy, rubberized backing in and out of place. Leaves collecting at downspout connecting house to garage and entering due to a poor cut not covered by leaf protection. 3. Flashing at base of siding: flashing along base of siding is tacked down and very wavy. 4. Flashing at base of chimney: large cut across width of chimney where old flashing was removed with remnants of the old flashing. 5. Bathroom vent fans: still installed using the existing tee. New flex pipe between "tee" and roof vent is tee. Both roof vents not centered over vent fans (holes in roof are 1 truss width away from directly above vents), seams are opposing direction of air flow , 2nd roof vent is connected to inside of cap but dangling in the attic, not connected. 6. Heat tape wires: Cut heat tape wires and instead of simply unplugging them from existing exterior plugs, they were left hanging on the side of the house Resolutions: 1. Roof: called the foreman during installation, said he did not have a record of it doing garage ridge vent. Called our sales person, who called the foreman and instructed installers to get the garage ridge vent completed. Completed on the same day 2. Gutter Leaf Protection: called sales person who stated he would look at the install. Waited 1 week for him to respond, heard nothing, I called him again. Stated he came out to look, did not like quality, and would send out a service crew to fix. Different crew came to adjust, but I am still not happy with the quality of workmanship. Still same situation, with little change. 3. Flashing at base of siding: mentioned the waviness of flashing at base of siding, it was brushed off by sales rep, stated it will eventually relax over time (?). 4. Flashing at base of chimney: representative mentioned he will have someone raise the flashing or install taller flashing. Nothing done yet, +28 days since install 5. Bathroom vent fans: I entered attic to verify, told rep, he stated a call back by next day, no call back after 2 days, will have to call to remind. Nothing done yet, +28 days since install 6. Heat tape wires: rep mentioned they can unplug and discard these wires. Nothing done yet, +28 days since install read more

I had Graves brothers come and repair my roof Kris the on site supervisor was very prompt and explained everything to me that was going to be done he was a very helpful young man. He seemed to know what he was talking about and if he didn't he called to find out and reported right back to me with the information he found out. Let me begin that I am a Procurement Sourcing Manager for a major corporation by trade. As a major purchase of services, the first thing I did was bid out to multiple local recommended companies. 3 of the roofers were in the same ball park, but Graves stood out for using CertainTeed brand shingles vs. GAF by the others. I was also impressed by the CertainTeed 5-Star warranty which includes - 50 year non-prorated on materials and labor, tear-off, disposal & workmanship for 25 years. It is also transferable to the next home owner within first 15 years which is a big selling point for us. After some negotiating on my part, Graves was the clear low bidder financially as well. We then moved to the contract phase where I am sure I was much more picky than most. Graves worked with me to modify some key contract and terms & conditions language, to mutual satisfaction. We agreed on a couple time windows for the job which they met. The work went well with protection of our property and safety was an obvious priority of theirs. They were done on time and worked through the minor punch list items in a timely manner and to our satisfaction. They were very accommodating and agreed to a reasonable hold back for final payment until we were satisfied with the final punch list items and warranty issued by CertainTeed in hand. Our overall experience with Graves was excellent and we would recommend them to others. read more

It was time for a new roof and after checking other roofing companies we called Graves Brothers. An appointment was set up with Chris and he explained all the products that were to be used from start to finish and the process. After scheduling the start date my main point of contact was Linda. Although I contacted her many times she always was more than glad to respond and satisfy my questions or concerns. I was later contacted by Linda saying the crew would be at my house at 7:00am on the scheduled date. The following day project manager Don and his crew arrived at 7:00am. He told me everything what was going to take place and not to hesitate with any questions or concerns. During the project I asked Don several questions which he took the time to answer and making sure I understood. Before the dripedge was installed I questioned the color. Don walked me to the area of the house where the black dripedge was already removed and was going to be replaced with white. Don saw that I was disappointed of the new dripedge being white and not black so he did not hesitate to jump in his truck and returned with the color I wanted. It was getting late in the day and I told Don to send his crew home and return the following day. He said his crew insisted on staying and they were not going to leave until the job was 100% done. They stayed and finished the roof and after the two girls did a complete and thorough cleanup it was 7:00pm. My wife and I could not be more satisfied with the amazing roof and the job Don and his crew did. Several neighbors stopped in the street saying what a beautiful roof and asked for the name of the company. We recommend Graves Brothers if you're in need of a new roof. Jim V. read more

I would not recommend this company. They do not honor their warranty's. I had a roof installed and new ventilation fans put in , under a five year warranty. The fans stopped working within 2.5 years and they are now stating it's my issue because they don't cover the parts or new installation for the new part to be installed. If a company does work on your home and the mechanisms they choose stopes working, They should have a process in place where the manufacture they choose to work with sends them the new part( which was still under manufacturer warranty) and they reinstall the parts. So what does the 5 year warranty cover exactly? The roof only? For example What if it was the shingles fault the roof feel off, am i responsible to get the new shingles, pay for shipping and also pay to have the shingles uninstalled and reinstalled because they choose to purchase a bad shingle manufacturer. They gave me a 5 yr warranty on what they did they should honor the 5 yrs no matter what the issue is. I would highly not recommend this company. Graves Bros. just finished a big roofing job on my house, full tear off with some of that being original shake roof replaced with plywood deck. Also included adding solar powered skylights and the framing needed there as well. Their crew was all business, no chatter or cell phones, just do the job and do it well. I can't say enough about the quality of the work, the cleanup and followup by the company to be sure I was 100% satisfied before they even asked for final payment. Oh, and their price was fair and more than competitive with others in the area. I will definitely have them back for other projects! read more

I hate writing bad reviews - normally I love the companies I work with and write stellar reviews. But Graves Brothers disappoints. Supposedly they do great siding work - but I will never know because they cancelled our contract after we picked made all of our siding choices and other decisions wasting literally weeks of our time. I felt the need to post this - to let folks know that if they make it to the siding they "might" get a good job done, but they better not ask a lot of questions or make any special requests or any demands at all or the company might decide you are not a good bet for a positive referral and decide not to do business with you. And that's the thing I wonder - are their "good" reviews only because they weed out anyone they think might actually not give a "good" review. What a way to do business. One should stand by their work period and if they believe their work is solid and right, then assume of course a good referral will be given. So our story: The company (namely Steve Kaamano) made mistakes in price quotes and overall communications, causing delays in our decisions. At no time was it communicated to us that those delays would push us off the schedule and push us back by over a month. In fact, even if those decisions had not been delayed we were subsequently told that the siding we picked was special order, as was the door we were installing and ultimately that would have caused delays - but again, that was never told to us when we first made our picks. Communication when dealing with a customer is key - and there was very little of that with Graves Brothers. So go with this company if you like - you may actually get a good siding job - but be careful about asking too many questions and be sure you get in writing the dates of your project and read your contract down to the last piece of fine print or you just may find you spend a lot of time for nothing as they pull out of the job. read more

He said there were no sales people available, but took my contact information and said someone would call me. It's been more than a week later and I have yet to hear from them, so I've contacted another contractor who has been much more responsive. read more

do not trust this company i had my roof and soffit rplaced they gave me a 5 yr warranty on work,but what good is a warranty if they wont let you use it. i have rotted wood they wont replace and if it is not replace the wole roof will be put at risk i spent over 8 grand for all this to be done, i have filed with the better business bureau read more
