Out-of-State Buyers Beware On 11/10/2024, I found a listing on Car Gurus for the car I wanted in my price range. On 11/11/2024, I called the dealership and spoke with a salesman who assured me they frequently ship cars out of state and would handle all title, registration, and fees for California. I agreed and was told they'd mail paperwork for me to sign. I received, notarized, and returned the paperwork on 11/14/2024. The dealership confirmed receipt on 11/15/2024 and had already received payment from my lender. I also paid the transportation fee in full. I expected the car to ship that Friday, but after follow-ups, I was told it was "up to the shipping company." The car didn't ship until 11/20/2024. During this delay, I was paying for a rental car. When the car arrived on 11/25/2024, I was horrified to find no paperwork, owner's manual, temporary registration, or plates. My family worried the car might be stolen. Without the proper documentation, I couldn't legally drive or register it, as the dealership had my registration fees, taxes, and the original title. I contacted the salesman, who said they'd overnight a "tryout tag." It arrived as a handwritten piece of paper--not an official document. When I asked if the car was registered in California, the salesman claimed it was, though I received no temporary registration. Frustrated, I returned my rental car and drove my car with the "tryout tag." On 12/01/2024, I was pulled over. The officer ran the VIN and confirmed the car wasn't registered in Mississippi or California and warned he could impound it. He let me off with a fix-it ticket. I contacted the salesman again, but he insisted the officer was wrong. I demanded to speak with the Sales Manager. On 12/02/2024, Clarissa, the Sales Manager, finally called. She explained they use a third-party company for out-of-state registrations and that "additional steps" were needed. Shockingly, she expected me to walk her through the registration process, even asking for the DMV's address so they could mail a check. When I asked for reimbursement for the rental car and the cost of the car while I couldn't legally drive it, she refused and hung up after I mentioned involving a lawyer. Via email, Clarissa confirmed they'd send the necessary paperwork for me to register the car myself. The FedEx package arrived on 12/06/2024. However, the check was made out to a specific local DMV office instead of the California DMV, limiting me to one branch. I scheduled the first available appointment for 12/11/2024. After finally going to the DMV myself, the car was registered. This experience was a nightmare. The dealership's lack of professionalism, poor communication, and mishandling of the process left me paying for a car I couldn't legally drive while also covering rental car costs. I've taken my car her for service since I purchased it. On this pass Tuesday I took my 2019 Ford Expedition in for a recall. While I was there I explained to the Service Advisor Maurice that I have had a rattling noise during start up. I advised that I asked the service advisor about this before and was advised that's the 3.5 engine. Didn't recommend any solution. When the problem was mentioned to Maurice he advised Cam Phaser and it should be covered under the warranty. I was a 1000 miles over but if the incompetent service advisor would have at least checked or did his job this would have been a big profit for the dealership.( And my vehicle would have been repaired) I was quoted over 4500 to repair it and my deductible was 100.00 I'm glad that I made contact with Maurice but I'm just not sure if I will return. This makes no sense at all. I've been offered other services for my car but the one thing that really makes a difference I wasnt offered. When I go here I feel like there is a check list of items that I are trying to be sold to me. Gray Daniels simply has salesman at the service advsor desk. Thats it. I am utterly disgusted with the process of repair. I purchased a brand new 2023 F150 and the transmission is not shifting properly. I contacted roadside assistance and they towed it in. After keeping the truck for some days "they can't make it repeat the problem." I pick up the truck drive it less than 24hrs and it's already doing the exact same thing. There is no way they fully worked on this truck and found nothing when an hour trip down 49 made it do the same thing. Not happy with how most everything went down and how long it took. A little late to writing this review, but better late than never. It will be a bit long if you care to read because the details matter, I kept everything written down in a word document during all of this process, so it is all factual and dates are exact. But summary version - my car was in and out of shops for 4 months the day after I bought it. I was having to find rides to and from home, work, and anywhere I needed to be each time I had to take it/leave it at the shop. I had just bought my car from a shop in Wiggins, MS on July 8, 2022. The vehicle is a 2018 Ford Mustang. (Also not sure if it matters, but I am a 24 year old woman.) My friend noticed a metal grinding noise immediately when I got home. On July 13th I brought it to Gray-Daniels Ford and paid the 180$ to run diagnostics. They told me my rotors looked bad and that my exhaust was scraping the ground. I brought my car back to Ford July 19th because the exhaust didn't have scrapes and was not near the ground and that I still needed an accurate diagnoses. They told me my O2 sensor was crushed and needed to be replaced. (Was told that a 'rookie' was the one that said my exhaust was scraping. Went and had the place I bought it from replace my sensor and rotors. August 3rd, I brought my car back to Ford because of the metal grinding noise still happening. I brought it back to Ford again on the 9th because apparently no one knew what the noise was or heard it. So I had to drive the 'rookie' around and my roommate drove the foreman around because neither heard it before we pointed it out. Finally I am told I needed a new gear and pinion assembly and a new bearings assembly. Claim was filed around August 11th. August 25th, I brought my car to Ford on my lunch break so the inspector could check it and approve the claim and then the parts got ordered. Called August 31st informing them that my car was misfiring now as well and that the wrench light came on. September 2nd, I brought it back up to Ford, it threw a catalytic converter code and I was told on this day that it could be the cylinder head or the head gasket cover leaking. (Around this date, I was told my parts were in but the man who would be working on my vehicle and the guy I had been dealing with through all of this both had covid so no one would be able to work on my car until they were back in.) September 20th - 23rd, finally brought my car and paid the 100$ warranty fee. They replaced the assemblies. I was told that supposedly the car had a tune left on it from the previous owner, so I told them just reset it back to stock. They said they cranked it and it did not misfire so it was 'fixed'. Not even a week later it began to misfire again. And now begins the month it stayed in the shop - October 10th I was able to bring my car back to Ford. 10/11- They told me they meant to run a pressure test but that impossibly stopped at one point but they ran it again. The foreman said it was a cracked cylinder head and that he was going to write out the parts needed to be ordered to set up another warranty claim. 10/12 - I received a call and was told my car needed to be torn down to see the issue to properly fix the vehicle. Labor is 6 hours for that and that they'd need permission from me and possibly the place I bought the car through to give the go ahead. 10/13-14 - I tried for a very long time to get ahold of the manager of the place I bought it from but never could, so I gave the go ahead to Ford. I could not get a rental from Ford and I could not afford to rent from a rental place because my warranty only cover 25$ a day for up to 5 days. On the 14th I was told they cannot do the warranty until it is diagnosed, which of course makes sense. But now I will not know how long my car will be in the shop. I work 40 minutes away from where this shop is located / from home. October 26th - Was finally messaged by Shane saying that coolant is getting into my cylinder head so they are pricing it out. Oct. 28th - He called it into the warranty people. Nov. 1st - Car was supposedly looked at by an inspector. 11/7 - My inspection was sent to an underwriter to look further into the claim. (Mind you my car has been at Ford since October 10th.) 11/11 - Parts were in and was told it would be pulled in to start getting it fixed. 11/17 - Week 6 of not having a vehicle - got a text that they were finished and submitting for payment from the warranty company. 11/18 - finally got my car back in the afternoon of this day. No managers from either place ever got back to me! Communication is key, and it was very difficult to receive any if I was not the one reaching out. read more

The nice thing about Gray Daniels is you can use one sales person to shop across of their lots and not have to worry about the haggling when having to go to a new dealership. When an accident left me without a car and my financial situation wasn't the best I linked up with Mary to see what options I had while she wasn't able to help me she was not only honest but didn't attempt to put me in a situation that would have left me with larger debt that I started with. I appreciate her honesty and all the hard work that went into the two day search of trying to work something out between all six Gray Daniels lots. If I could give no stars, I would. Gray Daniels has the worse customer service. I have taken my Explorer in twice before to have the power steering fault fixed. When driving, the power steering will quit working and you will not be able to steer it. Both times they claimed to have reprogrammed it and said it was repaired. It was not. I brought it back up there for the 3rd time, after having my car for almost a week, I am told it is going to cost me $2100.00 to have repaired because it is no longer under their customer satisfaction warranty program of 150,000 miles. I have bought several vehicles from them in the past and have used them on my diesel trucks for work as well. It only takes one bad experience to lose all trust. I guess Watson Quality Ford has more work coming their way. read more

Shady business! I went in looking at a specific used truck, was told that I couldn't buy that truck because of a negative equity situation, but they would be happy to sell me a brand new 2018 with 950 a month payments, after I laughed at them, I went on about my business only to discover about 10 days later they had significantly lowered the price of the original truck, so apparently there was room for negotiation!! I called them on their crap, they took a credit app, ran my credit a few times and I didn't hear back from a sole, a couple of days after that, they lowered the price of the truck AGAIN!! Apparently they just didn't want to sell me that truck!! I went to Mazda of Jackson and was in and out same day with an awesome truck. Dont know what the problem was since I never got the courtesy of a phone call, so, please take my advice and take your business elsewhere!! read more

Y'all I can't make this story up... I have a motorhome that has a Ford V-10 engine on s F53 chassis. It's been running rough and the check engine light came on. With only 16,000 miles, I said I need to get into a dealer to get it checked out and repaired. After calling Ford and searching the internet, I found this dealership about 90 miles away. So I called them and told them my issue and they said no problem. They scheduled me an appointment. I had to arrange to be off and someone to follow me to bring me back home. 180 miles round trip. I received an email confirming my appointment time. When I arrived at the dealership in my motorhome, a service advisor ask me if I was here in the motorhome.. I responded "Yes sir". He said..."We don't work on motorhomes". I thought I was dreaming!! I told him that I called last week, got a email confirming the appointment.. even got Ford to check it. WTH!!! Never the less, I got upset and they just basically laughed about it and said.. oh well, sorry they should not had told you that. The call center is in Atlanta!!! So if you call Brandon, you talk to people in Atlanta when it comes to scheduling service. This is such piss poor customer service!!! Never would I recommend this dealership to anyone!! read more

My experience with parts department was unacceptable. I went there to pick up and pay for a part for a family member. I saw a man in the back aiding another customer over the phone. I waited a couple minutes at the counter and an employee came from the back room and saw me waiting and asked with a very bad attitude "what can I help you with?". I told him that I was picking up a part for XX and that he called ahead to let the office know. The employee responded with the same attitude "Well did he pay for it?" I said no I would be paying for the part, but he had placed the order a few days prior. XX sent me with the vin number and part name after the parts department had notified XX that the part was ready for pickup. The confirmation stated that I should just tell the parts department the VIN and they will have it for me. The employee then approached the counter picked up a clipboard with papers on it. (Another employee walked out of an office to the right while he was doing this.) The rude employee asked in the apparent trademark attitude "what was it?" I assumed that he was asking for the VIN and started reading off the numbers when he rudely said "No, start your story again" At this point I am getting frustrated with the rude attitude toward a paying customer. My voice reflected my frustration as I repeated everything I said as he slowly flipped through the papers. After he flipped through the few papers, the other employee gestured him to the office and both entered. After about 3 minutes, the rude employee walked out and went to the computer in the back of the room. 5 min past and the other employee came out of the office and knew exactly what I was looking for and had all of the information XX had given him. He was very helpful and the transaction continued with great service. While my transaction was taking place, the rude employee was talking to a shop worker that had walked in and was using some crude language and swearing. Ultimately, I got the part that I went there for, but I do have a question. Is this how Gray Daniels treats paying customers? The attitude and conduct directed at a customer was appalling. Is this the sense of professionalism that you strive for? Despite the other employee helping me with a much better attitude, it is unacceptable that an employee talk down to someone like that. I can say I will no longer do ANY business with Gray Daniels Ford, and recommend that others do business elsewhere should they desire to be treated with respect and dignity. read more

2014 Mustang GT 5.0 has been making some nasty noises under the front end. Twice it has been to the dealership so far and the noise is still there. New parts have been installed but still no luck. I know they are trying to get it fixed. But my only complaint is this. Don't call me and tell me my car is fixed and then as soon as I get in it and go over the first hump the noise is still there clear as day. How about test driving it afterwards instead of assuming. But other than that. Great customer service when comes to dealing with them. So 4 stars for me. Once they fix my problem I'll change it to 5. Update: 2013 Ford Fiesta. Car has only 40k on it. Slung a rod out of the bottom end of block. Had it towed to grey Daniels for repairs. Because I assumed the warranty would cover the engine. But I guess I assumed wrong. I was told since it had a cold air intake on it that it was sucking dirt into the engine. Yet the filter on it is clean as it can be. I've been on the phone with several ppl and thanks to grey Daniels mechanics my warranty claim has been denied. Called to schedule an appointment and was told to bring it in Tuesday morning at 7:00am. Apparently everyone brings their auto in at 7:00. Was told I needed to leave it for a few days to check 3 recalls. Was called within 30 minutes and was told I have received a free complimentary front end check and I needed an $89.00 front end alignment. I declined but asked for an oil change. ( Think their works package is $39.00) Called and checked Thursday to find out my auto has not been touched. I pick it up after being there two days for nothing. A Service Mgr calls and asks if i could bring it back the following Tuesday. Was there at 7:00am and reminding them of the oil change. I follow up with them Wednesday and Thursday to find out they did order parts and would be done Friday. I call Friday and was asked to come in around 4:00 to 4:30. Arrive to learn they forgot about the oil change. Was almost 5:00 before I got out of there. Should be zero stars! read more

Worst buying experience ever!!!!! I'm in California and found a 2018 F150 Raptor at Gray Daniels. I called Thomas and made a deal with them. We began the process, I got pre-approved, sent them a wire transfer for $30,000 as down payment, signed and overnighted the purchase contract. 1 week later I found a shipping company that would pick up the truck and ship it to CA. On the morning of the pick up, the driver arrived to pick up the truck, but they would not release it. Tim Hall, the general manager, called me and cancelled the deal. I was told the transaction could not be done because of "too many variables" (whatever that means). He promised to send back my deposit plus the cost of delivery. After not hearing back from anyone, I tried calling Tim. I ended up calling about 10 times over a period of a week, each time leaving a message directly to Tim or to the receptionist but he would not return any of my calls. Finally, eight days later, I tried calling again and reached Clinton. He found out what was going on and told me that the check would be sent out soon. It took 10 days for me to receive the $30k back but the delivery cost was not refunded as promised. I am still not exactly sure why the transaction was cancelled the morning of the pick up. The problem isn't so much that they cancelled the transaction last minute, even though we had a written contract. But they ignored all my calls, did not respond to my messages and voicemails, did not keep their word by refunding the delivery fee and not even giving me a legitimate reason for cancelling. I never heard from Tim Hall again. He could have had the decency to call me to explain what happened and give me a timeframe of when the check would be sent out. I don't mind waiting, but i don't like to be ignored by a so-called reputable dealership. Had he just called me back with an apology and a timeframe of when to expect my refund, I would not be writing this. read more

took my Mustang in for an oil change. Salesman told me my brakes need replacing, cost is $189 w coupon..i explained i would need to wait on this $$. Salesman said he would hate for my brakes to "go out" I caved and put in on my credit card after being pressured. My husband was furious and said the only way brakes go out is if the brake line is cut, etc. I was the last customer on a Saturday and i feel like i was an easy sale for them. Once I drove it off the lot all kinds of mechanical things, warning lights, etc. came on so I returned it to the dealer who subcontracted the repairs to another dealership. That has been 2 weeks ago and still no word as to when I will receive my car back. After numerous calls inquiring about the status of my purchase, only to be totally ignored and never called back, I filed a Better Bureau Complaint. I'm pretty upset at the way my 73 year old was mom was treated and ripped off by this stealership but I don't really expect anything less and that is why I call them all stealerships. A couple of months ago her car started running rough and threw a check engine code. I do not live in the area so I couldn't really help her out. She took it over to my uncle's house. He isn't a mechanic but knows a pretty good bit about cars and has a diagnostic tool. The computer said that there was a cylinder misfire and that the fuel rail sensor was bad so he ordered one off of Amazon for $19.13 and replaced it. The car ran fine for a couple of weeks and started doing it again. She called my uncle back and he recommended that she take it to the Ford place since they would be most knowledgeable about it. She took it to Gray Daniels and they kept the car for 8 days claiming that they couldn't get it to mess up again. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, the problem was intermittent. Finally the car started doing it again and after checking the code they determined that the fuel rail sensor was bad and replaced it, plus they reprogrammed the PCM. They charged her $155 for the part, the same part that my uncle had paid $19.13 for. I'm sure their argument would be that it's OEM so costs more. I'm pretty sure the non OEM sensor would work just fine. Anyway, total cost for the "repair" was $572 with the disclaimer that the part that they replaced was bad and needed to be replaced anyway but further diagnostics and repair may be needed. The part that was "bad" was a brand new part that had been on the car for two weeks. Well, after another month or so, of course the car started doing it again. I happened to be in town this time. She called the service department and they said "Well, we told you that it may require more work. Bring it in and we'll be happy to look at it". I'm sure you would....for a price. I advised her to take her losses and treat this as a learning experience and find a real, honest mechanic to fix the car. When I showed her on the receipt where they charged her $572 to replaced a part that had been replaced 2 weeks earlier, and when I showed her how much the part costs on Amazon and Rock Auto, and when I pointed out where the part was on the engine she almost cried. The sensor was literally on top of the engine. To replace it you remove the 2 screws, unplug the vacuum line, and disconnect the electrical plug. That's it, doesn't require 2.3 hours of labor. So the car had a check engine code and when I checked it on the computer it said that there was a misfire in one of the cylinders. My first thought was the coil and/or spark plug. I found a local mechanic to replace the coils and spark plugs for a couple of hundred dollars and the car is running like a top. Now I am no mechanic but I fail to see how experienced factory certified mechanics could miss something so basic as an cylinder misfire and replacing the coils. I guess they just blindly looked at the code and started replacing stuff.....at a price. I always avoid the stealerships like the plague. There is no way I would buy a car from one or have a car repaired at one, especially this one. Personally, I wouldn't let this place wash my car on a Sunday when everything else is closed. Although when we set up the appointment earlier in the week, (about a car we had found through Auto Trader) we both received phone calls from different salesmen (NOT the one we had the app with) every day for the three days prior.
