Wow this place was actually amazing and very accommodating. I would definitely return. I called ahead to make a reservation for rooftop on a Saturday night at 930. They texted me with a reminder. Before even ordering I could smell the food and I couldn't wait to eat. I ordered calamari for an appetizer and the Blue Crab ravioli for a main. I organized a celebratory dinner for about 25+ high school students and adult chaperones at this place and I really have to commend the restaurant for handling it so nicely. They were very easy to communicate with over the phone - I spoke with the owner Gino, and he seemed friendly, and was present the night of the meal and lovely then as well. When I called to confirm our reservation the woman picking up the phone knew about it without needing to find a manager so that was re-assuring. When we arrived our tables were ready, and our waiter (Edwin?) was super nice and generally great throughout the meal. I didn't need to pre-pay, but a standard gratuity was included on our final bill, which feels very fair for a large group. I had asked the waiter if it was possible to make a separate check for alcoholic beverages if any of the adults chose to drink, and while it didn't end up being necessary, he seemed happy to do it. Also, I had apparently miscounted the number in our party and they accommodated us by adding more tables/chairs, and were friendly about it to boot. I ordered salad and pizza for the group and the food came out in reasonable intervals and was actually delicious! I would totally come back here for pizza, and would venture to try other things off the menu as well. For groups without children they apparently have a rooftop terrace that they use during the warmer months, but I didn't get a chance to see it on this visit. I would definitely use this place again the next time I need to organize something for the kids (if they'll have us), and I would also happily return to sit outside on a date/girls night. read more

How did a lack of a review of Graziella's slip by me? Not sure as I ponder the answer. Luckily, I visited not too long ago so the experience and deliciousness of Graziella's is still fresh in my mind. I dined here about a week before Labor Day weekend for the first time. As it was an unseasonably chilly-ish August evening, I was feeling regretful dressing so summerlike because we chose to sit on the rooftop terrace. The atmosphere was adorable ----if only it had been 10 degrees warmer. Regardless, I was anxious to try their food based on raving recommendations. On this given night, we decided to share a pizza and pasta dish. As far as our pizza selection, we chose good ole (20" ) Margherita--nicely sized with 8 slices. This pizza was cooked to perfection from the crust, sauce and fresh cheese/topping---the trinity of what makes a fantastic pizza. We nodded in agreement that this was good stuff. For pasta, we put our own spin on an existing dish from the menu--namely the spaghetti shrimp scampi. Since my friend wasn't eating shrimp, we asked to make it vegetarian. I would have loved asparagus, but no luck. Broccoli? Nope. We finally settled (based on what they had on hand in the kitchen) on spaghetti with garlic, white wine and spinach. It was good and we were satisfied. We were also grateful that they were so accommodating to put a twist on the recipe. The overall service was very satisfying . Full disclosure - we tried to go to LaRina first, but the wait was just too long. Graziella's has been on my list since moving to Brooklyn a year ago, so I was excited to try due to all of the amazing Yelp reviews. As soon as we walked in, we knew that this was where we needed to be! Old school, chill Italian restaurant setting. It was crowded around 8 on a Saturday, but we were still able to sit immediately. We wanted so many things on the menu, but went with the rigatoni alla norma and chicken parm with a side of penne alla vodka. I always hesitate to get anything in a red sauce from a restaurant I haven't been to before, but I just had a good feeling here - it was incredible! The real star though - the penne alla vodka. There are plenty of trendy places where you can get "New Italian" food like Rabbit Ragu, or chopped sheep liver and capers, but no Italian Grandma made that crap. Graziella's has an Amazing Pizza the crust is perfect. They make a succulent sauce and it's delicious! Eggplant Parm. Was good presto basic but not greasy and fresh. I would say the food is classic but done traditional not trendy. It's large so you don't have to eat on top of one another which is rare in Brooklyn these days. There is modern music which I did not like but that's just me I wanted Sinatra and Johnny Mathis the Drifters they have posters of these great artists all over I think that music suits the decor better. But I am 50 so don't hold that against them. The owner Vito is an artist super nice guy. You will not be disappointed, in fact you will be addicted! read more

I've been to this restaurant many times and have never received such awful service with no attempt to fix the issue. I ordered a shrimp parmigiana dish at 9:30 at night and received it at 11:30 pm with no shrimp, after calling the restaurant 4 different times to check on and then reorder my meal. We were ignored, hung up on, and forgotten for over an hour and when I called to inform the location that they gave me an order of pasta with no meat, I was told that I must've messed up or ordered incorrectly. The general manager as well as his employee met my complaint with snide responses and condescending remarks even though I had been told, by them, an order of this same meal was on the way over two hours before this conversation. The person answering the phone as well as the general manager were disrespectful and only became more belligerent the more they messed up. I'm very disappointed in my experience today, I hope this is not the new normal for a long time family favorite. read more

Came here for a quick dinner after stopping at a bar up the street. Overall our experience was average. The drinks were good and they have a large menu of specialty cocktails. We sat upstairs on the rooftop deck which was nice! Upon entering the restaurant I saw a sign that stated service on the rooftop took longer, which it did. Being aware ahead of time it was no problem for us as we were not in a rush! We ended up getting a large meatball pizza, it was a good average pizza. Amazing staff and great good. I placed a delivery order thru Postmates and it came with an issue. Postmates Customer service may suck but Graziella's personally handled the issue and delivered a new piping hot pizza within 15 minutes. Pasta was mediocre. My husband's pizza was the best thing we ordered and that wasn't memorable in any way. Rice balls (Arancini) were more of a paella style which was a nice surprise. Wine list was decent and affordable and they have a great draft beer list. Best part about this place is the outdoor deck upstairs. read more

For the first full year of living in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill, I completely ignored Graziella's because, well, I just assumed that it was some dive (for no other reason than that it sat by itself, on Vanderbilt, slightly off of DeKalb). Ummm, the place is pretty cool. It all started out with a drink. A couple of friends and I were wandering, somewhat grumpy for whatever reason, trying to find a suitable place to watch an NBA Playoff Game, and we ended up at Graziella's since it was only a few blocks away from my apartment (dejected from the fruitless search, we were about to give up). The kitchen closes rather early - 10pm on weeknights - so we had to settle for drinks (this made some of us grumpier; some of us less grumpy) and we sat on the couch and threw back some brew, some of us vino. The clientele (those who were at the dining area past the bar) looked happy with their food and the place smelled very good, so we all vowed to come back - the only thing me and my friends were able to agree on that night. I've tried some of their pasta and the pizza and I think the pizza is slightly overrated (after months and months of hype from a friend in the neighborhood), but it is still quite good. As for the pasta, I really dug it - I can't even remember what specific plates they were, and my knowledge of Italian food is similar to a cat's understanding of the ABCs, sorry - despite the small portions. Never been up on the roof deck, but last time I went, we sat at one of the two tables outside, on the sidewalk, and we had a great time. In one night you jumped from 4 stars to 1 star because you took one hour and 30 minutes to deliver, perpetually lied to us about arrival time, and were unnecessarily rude and dismissive both times when we called. I've been here a few times and the food has always been really good. But last time I visited the service was super intrusive and all around awful. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar because it was busy. Our server took a long time to come and take our order. Totally understandable since it was busy. What's not ok is that she continually touched my boyfriend which made both of us uncomfortable. It's like she thought it would get her a bigger tip. Well, when I paid the bill I let it reflect in the tip. On top of that, the guy working behind the bar kept saying vulgar things in Spanish that we could plainly hear. Not what I'm trying to hear on date night when I'm paying $25 for pasta. What's worse, we saw him wipe his nose with his hand and then immediately go make some cannolis without wearing gloves. We had no room for dessert after witnessing that. It's a shame because I really like the food, but they should stop feeling up on their customers and also act as if they're at work, not sitting in their boxers in their own living room. Graziella's is a great stand-by. The only thing I've had that was a little sub-par was the white pizza, but here are the other goodies I've really enjoyed. The Margherita pizza and the arugula pizza are swell. The meatballs are a nice little treat. To me, the sauce they come in is fantastic and the meat blend in the meatballs yields a very tender, flavorful Meat Wad. I've had the gorgonzola and walnut salad. I would opt for the balsamic dressing next time versus the homemade sweet dressing. It just seemed odd-tasting to me. The penne vodka is a favorite. It has prosciutto chopped finely and cooked in it, and the flavor is right on. Now, the one thing that keeps Graziella's separate from other places, to me, is the fig ice cream. This stuff is sublime. Maybe there is fig ice cream everywhere and I just don't know it, but I had never heard of it until this place. I cannot pass it up when I go. Definitely try it. It is typically part of a dessert called Chocolate Lava Cake (which is also nom-tastic), but sometimes I'm not wanting to go that overboard on dessert so I order it solo. During nice weather, the roof is pleasant if someone is not chain-smoking 3 feet away. read more
