I've been 20, dirty, tired but I was not going to have some lackadaisical guy walk up to me: "Okay, drive up third garage door." ... All I saw was a bunch of guys shuffling their feet, a bunch of back-and-forth banter that wasn't businesslike, one raggedy young lady that I wouldn't trust to change my oil. I drove off.

I went back and asked them to check it, assuming something must have been done incorrectly. That's when they casually told me I have an oil leak? and then admitted they "forgot" to mention it during my original visit?? Forgetting to tell a customer their car has an oil leak after servicing it is not a small oversight. That's critical information that directly affects the safety and longevity of the vehicle. Had I been informed at the time of service, I could have addressed it immediately instead of driving around unknowingly and risking serious engine damage. What made the situation worse was their attitude. They rushed me out, were dismissive, and spoke in a condescending tone instead of taking accountability. There was no apology, no effort to explain, and no attempt to help, just "take it to a shop, we can't help you." Extremely unprofessional, careless, and disappointing customer service. I would not trust them with my vehicle again.

They open at 7:30am so it worked perfectly with my schedule. There was one gentleman there that greeted me almost immediately even though I was there right before opening. I pulled right in and he started the oil change. It took less than 10 minutes and he was very polite. I declined the air filter because I don't have a lot of expendable income right now. He gave me no trouble. He scanned a coupon for me and it wasn't too expensive even though I know I was way overdue. You stay in your car for the oil changes now, due to covid, and I'm grateful for that. I will continue to get oil changes done here and at the other HP locations. It's always quick and painless, and now I can drive my car with confidence.

All the lights came on including the engine light, then the car began to shake and I lost power!! I WAS STRANDED on a two lane highway. I called the store to to advise them of my situation. It took them 45minutes total to get to me.Only 5 miles from the store, 25 mins. Later I call back to see where the manager is, Shan, the Asst. Mangr. rudely says, "I'm running the floor, I don't know" I advise her I'm alone on the side of the road, she says "so" and hang up on me. Horrible attitude. Infinite, the store manager arrives finds out it's WAAAYY too MUCH OIL. Long horrible story short TWO HOURS LATER we get back to Valoline. I see Asst. Mgr. Shan and ask her if she hung up on me. "Yes, I sure did. I didn't mess up your car. You don't blame me." As I walked away, I told her she was very unprofessional. She began saying some kind of slang, "I build'em up and knock'em down baby" " I'm the real" so aggressive and demonstrative that the manager had to the step in front of her and calm her down. I was totally disrespected. I WILL NEVER EVER STEP IN ANY ESTABLISHMENT THAT ALLOWS THAT KIND OF BEHAVIOR!! I FELT UNSAFE AND THREATENED. I have never in my life had such a horrible experience.

This automotive service business has good and not-so-good issues. I started doing business with…read morethem in December 2011 after another Havoline Express I used for years closed down for a road expansion. Here's the good: This place is clean and my wife would certainly feel comfortable there. Most of the employees are polite and professional, especially those who ring you up when your work is done. Only once did they try to upsell me car services that I did not need (I was a mechanic earlier in my career). Depending on when you arrive, you can often be in and out in under 20 minutes. The wall between the waiting area and the work area is glass, allowing you to somewhat see some of the work being done to your vehicle. Here's the not so good: When my oil filter is replaced, it drips lots of oil onto a support under my engine. If the mechanic doesn't clean it off, it drips on the floor of my garage for the next couple of weeks. The Havoline Xpress I used before this one always cleaned the oil off and it was never a problem. The technicians here, regardless of how nice I ask, will not clean this area after removing the oil filter even though they assure me they will when I ask. I have a vehicle with rear wheel drive. From the waiting area I can see they do not check the lubricant level in the rear differential even though they say on their check sheet (the one they give you when you leave) that they did. They also make erroneous comments on the check sheet regarding your response to questions they ask you. Once I realized the mechanics here were not performing services they claim to, I contacted the general manager, Doug Langford in writing to ask about it. To his credit, Doug contacted me by e-mail, advising me that he and the owner were looking into my concerns. To his detriment, that was the only time I heard from him. When I returned a couple of months later, things seemed very differently for the better. As best I could tell, all service functions listed on the check list were performed including the oil that drips on my garage floor after an oil change. Sadly this is not the end of the story. When I returned two weeks ago, service was back to bad. The lubricant level on my rear differential was not checked, the support that catches (then leaks) the oil was not cleaned, and although no mechanic spoke to me while I was there, my check list stated that I had told a mechanic that all services (for other things not included in an oil change) had been done. The following day I sent the manager another message outlining my visit, but it's been a week and a half and he hasn't responded yet. I am sorry to walk away from this business because it is clean, most of the people there are nice, and it is conveniently located to me. But if they will falsify information, pick and choose the services they do underneath your vehicle, as well as fib about something as little as wiping some excess oil off, I can't trust them with my vehicles anymore. On top of that, I am afraid of other important lubricating services/functions they may be skipping underneath my truck. Checking the differential is much simpler than some of the other things they are supposed to do underneath my truck. Knowing they are skipping that makes me feel they are likely skipping other things. I don't plan to go back. Without trust, I cannot do business here.

You need to understand that shops that do state inspections do not make money on an inspection. By default, all these shops will go through the obvious and inspect other areas (fluids and quality of, brakes, etc, etc,) and provide an opinion/recommendation as to what they see and recommend servicing (whether there / elsewhere). I am mechanically inclined and do almost all of my own maintenance (timing belt, H20 pump, transmission. brakes, etc). I even plug my own tires when running over the occasional roofing nail (as long as it is not along side-wall). Note: NONE of the chain-type service shops repair tires because of liability. For example, I just had my CX5 serviced at Mazda (was going on trip and they had a $99 special on Synthetic Oil change and tire rotation - and free car wash). I do like to get "some" things done through the dealership I bought the car at (2017) - keeps me in good standing. Their service dept "recommended about $900 of "other" items they think should be considered. I can do most of them myself without issue. I never think of these as always being a "sales-pitch". I see them as data point. A reminder to look at the service manual recommendations and then decide what to do about it.
