I went in for an oil change and that went fine, but they were lacking in customer service as well as a mechanic. I was interested in the results of my free break check as well as making sure everything else was ok. I didn't get any info about that when my car was finished. I paid then asked what the results were and the cashier said: oh you need breaks, but my mechanic isn't here do you can come back later and get those done if you want. I told him they had been squeaking but I had just got new breaks 2 months ago, elsewhere. He again just said, my mechanic isn't here, have a good day. And moved on. I am so happy with the service I've received from the guys at the Draper grease monkey. Every oil change has been quick and no upselling of anything. I had them do my timing belt replacement, which was an expensive part to replace. One of the parts they put in, unbeknownst to them, was a bad part. My car started making some loud clanking noises several weeks later. When another mechanic said it was part of the timing belt I gave them a call. They towed me in and fixed it all that SAME DAY and at no cost to me. They even replaced a brake light I didnt know was out just to be nice. I would have cost me a pretty penny to have someone else fix it. They didnt even sneeze at it. No questions, no doubts, they just took care of it. Came in for an oil change for my Honda Civic. Honda Civic, a simple car, not a expensive European model or a brand new vehicle... a Honda Civic. They fed me some type of bs excuse about how they only carry two types of oil, full synthetic and synthetic blend... the two most expensive kinds, even though they advertise 3 other oil types. My car is not high mileage, it only had 28k miles on it. I wouldn't even get a straight response on why it needed this type of oil... just that " it's better for the car" or " because of warranty reason" can't say that I would be coming back here since I can get an oil change for half the price everywhere else... read more

The guy who helped me forgot all about customer service and bashed his competitor down the street. I haven't tried them because I have always come here. I took my car in to get a routine oil change and everything seemed to go well. However about a week later when I was adding coolant I noticed multiple fasteners missing in my engine bay that were there before my oil change. So either they stole them from my car or forgot to replace them after taking a look at my air filters. read more

Wonderful experience! Today is Saturday...I thought I would wait forever to get my oil change done. Nope! The gentlemen were all standing there waiting for me! I went inside and sat down. I pulled out my laptop to do some work. Within about 5 minutes, it was time for me to pay! They changed a filter for free that I had on hand, and didn't try to up-sell me on anything. I have gone to Grease Monkey for years, along with my family. Anytime that I have an issue with any of our cars we go straight to Grease Monkey. However this time I went in and went to get a repair on my engine when they had quoted me previously. When I got there for my appointment with the mechanic they were so rude to me. What they had quoted me before was not even close to what they quoted me in person. He told me that the cost of labor would be $87 along with the cost of the materials. I asked if he knew how long the labor, and he kept saying I have no idea. I think he said that like 3 times to me. No business should ever tell a paying customer "I have no idea". Instead you should find me an actual answer if you have "no idea". I will not be returning because I honestly don't trust them with my money... I took my vehicle in for safety and emissions. The teenager testing it decided to fail safety due to no AS1 line and front tint strip lower than 4". I had informed them that I purchased it from the dealership like that and have never fail in 6 years. I walked out to my car and saw the AS1 line towards the center that the trained professional overlooked. I walked back and was able to have them remove the AS1 failure but they didn't budge on the tint. The tint was down to the AS1 line however on the outsides it was greater in height. To be clear the bottom line was straight but because a windshield is not a square there is more on the outsides. I found this extremely nitpicky and as a result they've lost my business along with all the drivers/vehicles in my household. read more

Um, an hour to get a safety and emissions inspections no one else is there when you pull up is completely unacceptable. Four other cars came and went (safety and maybe emissions) before my car was done. I asked the guy ringing me up if there was a problem and he said "no, there wasn't any problems." He at least apologized for the wait but it's still unacceptable. No one, was in front of me when I pulled up. They were all just hanging out in the bay waiting for a customer. They have never EVER charged me extra for an oil filter here (uhh...isn't that part of the service???) but when I went back recently they wanted to charge 10 dollars extra for the filter, saying it was a "special" filter. I brought my car into the shop last Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 4:50PM. I was greeted by virtually a disorganized mess of a worker with blonde long curly dirty hair wearing a winter hat that didn't go with the uniform. This was virtually a kid, scrawny, out of place, and I guess you could say a "grease monkey of a kid, or a punk- and I say that because that is how he treated me- was just like I was a punk!, but unfortunately, and really sadly, he was the punk. Several minutes after sitting patiently in my car, I was not greeted; but instead I was told by this punk kid, "We took our last car already. You're going to have to leave. I said, Darn, my tags are due.... are you sure? There's no way that you can do it today"? He answered without hesitation, no common courtesy or decency, NO MANNERS at all whatsoever, but disrespectfully to myself, and very RUDELY- a 52 year old woman that has worked in Customer service for over 27 years as "That's why they give you 30 days to get your inspections done", and left immediately. I have never been disrespected by what I thought was a PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS OPERATION "anything-like-this before. Unfortunately I had purchased a Groupon for the Inspections, and $15 for the issuance of the new stickers. HOWEVER, this kid did not even take the time to see that I had a Groupon to cop the attitude; as I can understand a lot of business'es have not always been happy when you bring out the Groupon. So this punk did not get to form any opinion, other than, "I'm going to treat this customer like a jerk!" WHY???? The only reason that I can guess is that I had pulled up 5 minutes too late, BUT STILL-that is no reason to be down right rude to a potential customer! Where does Grease Monkey hire these guys from? When I came back on Monday, May 1, 2017, I was greeted (not really greeted-met) by the same punk kid. This time I could not even tolerate the fact that I was going to disrepected by him. He asked me what it was that they were going to do today? and I said, sighing, the same thing that we were going to do last Saturday. He said what did we do? Well we are going to do the safety, and emissions test and get the tags for the vehicle. Don't you remember? He did not remember, but for someone being so rude to a customer and putting them down only 2 days previously, you would think that he would remember me... Unless he is just blantantly rude to everyone! Unfortunately, I learned this was exactly the case. I went into the building quietly and did a great job waiting. I had all day long. I wasn't in any hurry. I asked the manager if they would be able to key in my Visa Credit card number online to the Utah State Tax Commission, and he said yes. Later, the Manager walked out and an older guy walked in. This guy really had problems. He called my name, and when I gave him the information for credit card, he acted annoyed at me! He said, "The state doesn't like this credit card". I asked him if he wouldn't mind trying it again-one more time, because I know that it had $1300.00 available on it, and he replied angrily, grunting, "It will say the same thing". He really was put out on trying it one more time. I had already been there twice, and I knew the card was correct, but maybe the electronics was being finicky. I mentioned that to him, and he gave me a awful ugly look that acted as if he was telling me I was crazy. the and time did not work, so I said thanks, and said that I will call and check on it and get something else to pay with. I sat down, quietly, I got another Credit Card number, and went and stood up at the Check Out Desk. The older man had stepped away, and the manager that was younger with the bald head was gone too. Not one customer was waiting when I walked up to the desk to wait for a 2nd chance to get the new tags for my car. The older guy came back in and said very rudely to me "You are going to have to get back in line, and wait your turn". I wanted to say, but I have waited my turn... who am I butting in from of? Instead I said, Oooo Kay. I will sit down and wait my turn... because I have MANNERS. Now if anyone was crazy, it was that guy. He realized when I said OOO KAY, that he has misjudged the situation completely, and said what you have another credit card? I said yep. he proceeded to then help a customer that had just popped in the door, and then said ok, I can help you? I said NO, I am going to wait for the Manager to come back in to help me. The older man angrily snorted and retorted back, "I am the Manager"! I said "Well, I have all day, I will wait for the the other guy to come back in and help me". By this time, I am feeling like I am being harassed for choosing this disorganized, unprofessional company, and that I am being be-rated by the personnel. STAY AWAY!!!!! We went to the Draper location to get our emissions test completed. They spent 5 minutes and failed my Honda Pilot for an exhaust manifold leak and marked it as being tampered. We called two reputable mechanics and they both indicated Honda's do not have exhaust manifold leak issues. We took it into one of the mechanics and they completed a full inspection and found no issues with the vehicle. We drove it back to Grease Monkey's and it magically passed the second time. They did not apologize for the inconvenience and almost would not give us our renewal sticker. Very poor customer service and experience! read more

When I dropped my car off I was first told to park it then another man told me to take it back to the bay when I told him I was just there and was told to park it he rudely said "I'll just do it." I was a little thrown off by his unexpected rudeness so I got out of my car and left. After I pulled out of the parking lot I realized I had left my phone in the car on the seat. I went back for it and my best guess is that same "friendly" employee stole it. When I tried to inquire about where my phone was the other employees didn't even bother asking or looking. My wife was in there this afternoon to get safety and emmisions. The 'oil guy' told her she needed new rear brake shoes ($130). He must have sensed that she was fair game as the repairs then escalated to new drums as well ($230). This is on a very lightly used 10 year old SUV. The 'mechanic' intervened at that point and said the drums were fine. WTF? The reviews I've read on this outfit seem to indicate a pattern of extortion prior to signing off the vehicle as safe. I know for a fact there was nothing wrong with the brakes in the first place. If you choose to do business with Grease Monkey in Draper, buyer beware. read more

I don't understand why the reviews are low on this place. I just went there today and me being a former auto mechanic from los angeles ca., which is a very competetive environment by the way. I went to the competetors near by and asked about the products they use, and then came here and did the same. This place uses better products than the other places nearby and I decided to have them do an oil change on my vehicle. Their prices are competetive as anybody else. On top of vacuuming out the truck,greasing all the zerk ffittings, and checking all of the fluids, they told me the condition of my front diferential, and my rear deferential, transfer case, and transmision. This included the condition of those fluids, and seals that may be leaking. These were conditions I already knew existed, and was well pleased with their ability to diagnose and tell me what was really going on in these components of my truck. It is nice to find a place that actually has good diagnostic knowledge. I don't understand about people that complain about time, when it takes time to do accurate diagnosis.
