We brought our vehicle in on Tuesday, April 14th after being told earlier in the week that the mechanic wouldn't be available until then. We had a check engine light on and were quoted $175 for a diagnostic, which would go toward repairs if we moved forward. They had the car all day Wednesday and into Thursday. When we called for an update, they told us they still could not determine what was wrong. They gave multiple possibilities (fuel sensor or computer), but admitted they were unsure. Despite claiming to have spent the entire day testing, they were unable to provide an actual diagnosis. They then recommended replacing the fuel sensor for $698, while also stating it might not fix the issue and that the computer could also be bad--yet they couldn't even quote that. At that point, it was clear they were guessing, not diagnosing. We picked up the car Thursday, and my husband expressed concern about being charged a full diagnostic fee when no diagnosis was made. We immediately took the car to another local mechanic, who only charged $77 for a diagnostic. After hearing our experience, they specifically told us we should request a refund because we were charged for a service that was not actually completed. Within a few hours of opening the next day, they were able to correctly identify the problem. Being charged $175 for guesses and no clear answer is unacceptable--especially when another shop diagnosed the issue quickly and for less than half the cost. At minimum, we believe a refund of the diagnostic fee is warranted. read more

As for the tire rotation they discovered a nail in the tire so they told me that they couldn't rotate due to the nail, but that once it is fixed to come back and they'll do it. Pulled in with one car in front of me. Filled out the iPad form and another car rolled up after me. That other car got serviced before me. Was told it's "first come first serve" even though I was there first... After waiting 20 minutes in the lobby (they never even acknowledged my car), I asked how long for an oil change, they told me 30-60min, even though the other guy was almost done (including tire rotations). Decided this isn't worth my time and went to another shop down the street. Factoring in travel time to the other shop and the oil change service, they got me in and out faster than the time I spent in the Grease Monkey lobby. I wish I didn't need to leave a bad review as I've been coming here since they opened.... but I want to make sure any other women and/or not car-savvy are warned about this place. The battery light came on in my Toyota Corolla, so I drove straight to Grease Monkey. They tested the alternator and sure enough, that was it. Bummer, but okay. They gave me a quote, and not knowing much about cars, I just went for it. After all they told me about the state of my car, I didn't feel like I could drive it to go elsewhere. While waiting (which took almost twice as long as originally stated), I texted some friends of mine to make sure I wasn't being swindled. Their jaws dropped at the cost of the part. Almost $600 for an alternator part?! They suggested I ask for an itemized receipt upon pick up. So that's what I did... I was made to feel completely incompetent and told something about American parts (I drive a Japanese vehicle, why would I care about American made?!) and that they could've put a $700 alternator in my car.... When I mentioned the most expensive one I have found online being about $350, and just trying to understand what was driving the cost of their parts, they continued the ridicule. I mentioned multiple times I would pay what I agreed to, I just wanted to understand why it was so much, and that I felt swindled. So this is my warning to all my fellow non-knowledgable of car neighbors, they will over charge you, and make you feel pretty terrible if you second guess their pricing. Bummer. read more

I have driven by this business for 6+ months since I've moved to the area and have not found "my" go-to place for oil changes yet. After doing some research, reading reviews, and finding out this place is woman-owned (very cool!) I finally decided to go. Upon first impressions, the inside of the business is well kept. There is a complimentary snack bar with candy, chips, and refreshments which is awesome. The employee who helped me at the desk was also a mechanic who helped another employee with my oil change. He was welcoming and had an upbeat attitude. The oil change was very quick, about 10-15 minutes long and it also might be because they were only servicing one car when I arrived. I think the value you get here (oil changes are appropriately priced in my opinion) and with the speed of service you get makes getting work done here absolutely worth it. I was happy to not be upsold or recommended other services since other establishments can be aggressive when you're a woman. Ultimately, I will definitely be coming back and would recommend this business to other women or those who have anxiety when getting car maintenance done. Note: I did come back home and went over the inspection check-list and found that my transmission fluid check was not completed due to "No dipstick." However, I personally checked and found the dipstick was dislodged and out of place, likely due to one of the mechanics not being able to take it out. Being a girl who knows little about cars, I always HATE having to get anything done to my car because I fear I'll end up getting ripped off somehow! I have driven by Grease Monkey a few times and finally stopped in today for a much needed oil change. I pulled up. A gentleman greeted me at my car, showed me a menu of the different types of oil changes they offer. Then escorted me into the lobby where they had a bunch of snacks and beverages and some music playing on tv while you wait. I had a friendly conversation inside with the manager Chris while I waited. My oil change only took about 20 minutes. They inspected under the hood and around my car and said everything looked good. Topped off all my other fluids. They even vacuumed inside of my car and washed my windows! I don't even get that kind of service at the car dealership!
