This is a small place with about ten tables and six picnic tables. The Huckleberry Elk burger was absolutely delicious and resulted in us coming back on the way home from the park (despite the very hefty $26 price) and the special jalapeño bacon with cheese was tasty. They don't have fries, but the Hawaiian style macaroni salad was perfect. The best I've had in a long while. Simply done, great flavor. Friendly service

The elk burger is fantastic. The macaroni salad is incredible. We drive over from Whitefish to enjoy the Cafe. Highly recommend.

My amazing elk burger with homemade sausage soup

I found this place on Yelp after white water rafting. The ladies serving us were amazing at helping choose our meal. I had the elk burger with a huckleberry compote on top. The elk burger was cooked to perfection (elks has very little fat and is easy to end up with a dry chunk of meat), the bacon was perfect with its maple flavor, the huckleberry berry compote topped off this amazing burger. Don't balk at the extra few dollars you will spend here as this experience is worth it! Simply put, this is the best burger I have ever had. Too bad it is 15 hours from where I live. AND the homemade sausage soup is also amazing. The words perfection and amazing should have been used more in my description.

Nestled in the small town of Hungry Horse, just outside Glacier National Park, Great Bear Cafe is known for their elm and bison burgers served up in a casual environment. We stopped by here for a burger lunch. I ordered their build your own elk burger with sauteed onions and mushrooms and cheese with their broccoli salad as my side. The burger was juicy and flavorful and the broccoli salad was crisp and fresh. Everything tasted cozy and home made. The dining room is simple but comfortable. They have a few outdoor tables as well. The service is warm and welcoming. We loved our experience here! Get to it!

Bacon jam elk burger and chili

Layla took our order at the counter and answered our questions about whether bison or elk would be a good choice for our burgers. She was very warm and friendly as was the other waitress who delivered our meals to our table outside. I got the huckleberry buffalo burger. My husband got the bacon jam elk burger (because you can switch out beef for bison or elk). My side was the broccoli salad, and my husband got a cup of chili. The broccoli salad was made with slivered almonds, cherries, red onion, and bacon. It was delicious. My husband's chili was chock full of a variety of beans and meats. It's probably one of the best chilies we've had. The burgers were so delicious. I was skeptical about (sweet) huckleberry jam on a burger but WOW was it delicious. If you find yourself outside Glacier National Park, include a lunch stop at Great Bear Cafe since they aren't open for dinner. The food and service are fantastic!

Great service, great food, great vibes. A perfect example of the all American breakfast dinning experience. 20/10

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We were visiting for 4 full days... we came here 4 times. Everything was phenomenal, but the real star of the show was the breakfast sandwiches. The biscuits are unmatched, bacon was thick and tasty, egg cooked to perfection. Not being dramatic, it's the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had!! Elk burger was also super tasty, and the service was great. We had Sherri (might be mixing up spelling), who was so kind and also gave us recommendations for what to do on our trip. We would never come back to this area and not go here! Prioritize it!

Just what we needed after a good hike. It was filling, hot, fresh, and tasty. Service is a bit slow even though there wasn't a lot of customers. I believe it's only one cook. So it does take time. But the burger was not gamey at all and was tender. So perfectly made. The chili was hot, full of meat and beans. It was flavorful and Smokey too. Highly recommend!

How welcoming they were it felt like going to a loved families house and sitting down together for a home made meal. Because that is what it was. Food, I mean, come on! The lamb chops seasoned and cooked to perfect, nice char on the outside with a lite pink on the inside. The Ragu on home made tagliatelle was so beautiful, not to rich like some other you night have had, but able to taste all the flavor in the dish. A special if you can get it they were trying out here was the Chewapchichi (Cevapi), a form of Kofta / Meatball made in Chef Anton's Croatian style. That is not the Meatball that is on the menu in a soft tomato sauce!!! Basically we started with the Shrimp Tostada app and the Clams & Chroizo and just decided to ask for the whole menu for the family. I could go on, but just come see for yourself and enjoy for sure.
