I absolutely love going to Great Clips on Campus. If you check-in with their online app, your wait time is minimized to almost nothing. Ask for the stylist: "Yani". She's the best at what she does. She can do cuts for youngsters or for the not-so-young and always with a smile and you walk away looking better and feeling better about yourself. read more

The quality of your haircut here seriously depends on the stylist you get. Some of them are wonderful, and others couldn't care less how you look in the end. Because the haircuts are so cheap, its definitely worth a try, but I would never get anything drastic done here. Its a good place for cheap trims to upkeep a good cut. read more

WORST PLACE TO HAVE A HAIR CUT. I wont go here even if it is free. They charge around $10 bucks, finish cutting in 5 minutes - and basically do a bad job. When you go with a coupon ... they do NOT like it. The stylist once told me "what cut do your expect for $8? - this was with the coupon. I do to hair masters these days. I've been here several times. the first time I had a Hispanic lady I think her name was Maria. she was very rude and didn't look me in the eye. after she finish my haircut I still have hair on my face I asked her to remove it and she told me we're one was at. I had to go back and I tried to go to the Asian lady. she was much more tentative with my hair and extremely careful to make sure I like it. if you go here ask for Cindy! They charge you much less than other stores. So I am really surprised by the low ratings. Staff are quite friendly. Just be careful with one thing: waiting time. I usually go there without making an appointment. That waiting time could be about 25-30 minutes (or maybe longer). However, I would still go back. read more

Maybe for straight hair the haircuts are good but if you have curly or waivy hair please stay away. I just had a haircut here because I saw some good reviews but my haircut was awful. UYEN is the person who cut my hair. The entire time she complained how wavy my hair was and how much of it there was. She also criticized my request for haircut saying my hair was already too fluffy for layers. She did a poor job, my hair looked round and frizzy with all the combing and choppy cuts she did. I asked her to fix it and readjust the layers she had just cut to which she said my request would not look good. She ended up doing what I asked but I lost a lot of hair length to do the adjustments and on top of that my hair still looked awful. I really did not like the attitude and complaints she gave the entire time. She rushed the cut and did not do a nice job even though there was no one else after me waiting for a haircut. She even askes for a tip at the end which I thought was unfair and unkind ofnher to ask, especially with her behavior the whole time.I had an awful experience here. Avoid if you are a woman with wavy/curly hair or else you will have to wait to regrow your hair like me. - Upset customer :( read more

I was a bit nervous after reading all the reviews, given that my usual person who cuts my hair, Ruymela is out sick (to me she is the best!). However, I went in, and after a short 5 minute wait was taken in for a hair cut. I was pleased with the person who cut my hair. I do believe the new manager is trying to get the place in order and get the people who cut hair to be more responsible and as well trying to upgrade the image of the shop. Ironic name for the place. Extremely Bad Clips sounds more fitting. I came in here asking for Michael because of other Yelp reviews. I must say it was very deceiving and disappointing. I wanted to fix up my novice barber friend's work and I simply left with less money and same hideous look. Towards the end of the cut, I POLITELY ask Michael to cut my hair on the side shorter and all he did was look at me with disgust as if I'm wasting his time and told me it'll look the same anyways. He continually refuses to cut my hair the way I want it even after I voice my dissatisfaction out loud. I eventually gave up and went pay for my horrendous cut when Michael asked me how much I want to charge on my card. I clearly said $13 as I was not happy with the result. I see him take two dollars out of the cash register and swipe me for $15. He was literally stealing from me right in front of me. I was so fed up with his unprofessionalism and immaturity I decided to walk away and let him keep that extra two bucks. Highly dissatisfied. TL;DR: Terrified after trying the most recommended barber. Charged me $15 when I told him $13. Straight up scamming and stealing from the customers. read more

The following is the text that I sent to the corporate office in an e-mail after my horrible customer service experience at this location. I had been to this location multiple times before, and have always been pleased with the way my hair looks (this time included), however on this occasion, the customer service brought what would be a 5-star review down to a negative-10 star review. ---------------- Never before have I been so insulted and unhappy with the customer service when I've gotten a haircut. I have been to the location on Campus Drive in Irvine multiple times before, but never had the following experience. After beginning to cut my hair, my "hairdresser" Cindy dropped a comb and then exclaimed that I have a lot of gel in my hair. She then pulled out a new comb, dropped it, and then very rudely said that my hair had too much gel in it and that I needed a shampoo to get it all out. Since I had no choice, I followed her to the shampoo station, receive a shampoo treatment, and then returned to Cindy's normal station where the haircut proceeded as normal. Upon the completion, she told me that the charge would be $17 because she had to shampoo my hair, which costs an extra $3. I was never given a choice about this shampoo, nor would I ever give my consent to have anyone ever charge me to wash my hair. I decided that rather than raise a scene or complain, I would just accept it and pay. When she asked how much to charge on my credit card, I told her $18, which obviously included a $1 tip, which I truly didn't think she deserved, but I felt I was being nice to just give her that. She proceeded to run my card through at $17 and then tell me "Keep the change, sir" in a passive aggressive manner, indicating to me that she was insulted by the tip amount. I walked out of the store, thinking to myself that I didn't really lose anything seeing as how I normally leave a $3 tip on my $14 haircut, and that Cindy only hurt herself because instead of keeping the $3 as a tip, she had to give it to the store's revenue. On a related side note, several of the other "hairdressers" were chewing gum while working, and had I been assigned to them, I would have made them spit it out prior to working on my hair. Never before have I seen such unprofessional service at a haircut place. Needless to say, I will not be patronizing this or any other Great Clips any time soon, and will certainly relay this story to anyone who asks my opinion of the place. read more

My teen boys have been coming here for years. They like that they get their haircuts clean and quick. They've had several stylists over the years but like the male haircutters the best. I don't personally use their services much since I leave my hair long. Recently I decided on a shorter hair style which has me going to Great Clips more regularly. I've been serviced by 3 different stylist and like them all. Hamid have cut my hair the most and I like the way and speed he cuts my hair. I'm out of my seat in 10-15 minutes. read more

I've been here a couple times. It's convenient because it's close to campus. Wasn't too bad of a wait for a Wednesday afternoon. I went in with one of my friends and they told us to put our info down on a sign in sheet. They asked for our name, number, and address which I thought was weird, but I guess they use it to keep your cut specs in their database like Manny stated? Why they would? I don't know why because sometimes you don't always get the same haircut. Anyway, I signed up before my friend and then he got called up first and then some other girl that came after us got her haircut first. I was like WTF? Apparently the guy thought it was only one of us getting a haircut...my hair was an afro, cmon now, think!! After that, I got my haircut from a lady, Zohra? Well I got my usual fade, 4 on top, 0 on side. Wasn't impressed at all, the fade wasn't straight, there were some strands left on the top of my left. Gotta make it look clean! Haircuts are $14, $1 off if you're a UCI student. Total was $15 for me ($2 tip), I can get two haircuts for that price in Westminster! Back at home, San Jose, I get faded up for $6. Won't be coming back here for sure, probably get faded up by my friend or make the drive out to Little Saigon. read more

15 bucks. I went here only because it was very close to my house and its pretty cheap. They r located in the same plaza as alberstons. Salon across from UC berkeley was about the same price but they do a really good job. Here, they take ten minutes and just cut with such a bad and sad face. After telling the lady what I wanted..a diagonal cut..like a bob where its shorter in the back and longer in the front ..she just said no. Not possible. She asked if i wanted one length? And I said no not one length,I wanted something diagonal. She said she can't do it. RESULT..My cut was between ugly and whatevers. I ended up going to another place the following week that charges 45 bringing my cost up to 60. Maybe their men's cut is alright but I don't recommend girls coming here read more

I used to go here for years! There used to be this guy working there Mark who gave the best haircuts, but I think he moved. The last two times I went there was horrible. One lady, I forgot her name, yanked my hair and ended up scratching my ears with her brush. I told her she was hurting me and she got pissed off at me and was even rougher!! I refused to give that lady any tip! I used to love this place so much so I am very sad =(. I am going to try it one more time and then I am done if it sucks again. I recommend going to great clips. I have been going here for a long time, and my hair stylist Sally is very friendly and professional. I wanted my very long hair to be cut into a graduated bob and it looked amazing. Sally surprised me because she did it very fast and it turned out great. Also as she was shampooing my hair, she gave me a massage! everyone in this hair salon is so nice and greets me every time i walk in. Ok, this is my son't favorite place to get his hair cut. Luis is a GREAT guy with an outstanding customer service skills. We go there always asking for him and we will as long as he is there. As for the place I personally like the cleanliness of the store. The fact that is walk-in and prices are fair. However, I do not like some of the ladies because of their attitude. It seems like they get offended when we ask for Luis. One of them that I don't remember the name but I know that she is Spanish and mid-age specially rude and I have not seen her ever smile. She once came to me after my son had used their bathroom telling me that my son has made a mess in their bathroom. Knowing my son and knowing her I could tell that nothing had happened and I sufficed to say that maybe someone before my son has messed up your bath. What she needed to be educated was basic customer service skills. EVEN IF a kid has spilled water on your bath floor, you DON"T go to the parent and tell them in front of other customers that their child has "pee peed" on the floor!!!!!My son was so embarrassed and he kept telling her that he would never do such a thing. I know he never would. My experience with her has never been good and I am sorry for her as she seems to be upset and annoyed all the time. Overall if you go there ask for Luis and I assure you get a good hair cut for a decent price. read more

As soon as I walked into this place, I had a bad feeling. I took my nephew to this place since it was closer than the regular spot I usually take him to. I asked myself, what can go wrong? It's a haircut for a 10 year old boy. She asked me how I liked to have his haircut...I proceeded to let her know how to cut his hair. That was when she started to tell me how she was going to cut his hair, "it's my style". She just got done asking me how I would like his haircut. WTF?? Why ask? I told her fine, I'll take him elsewhere if you're not going to listen... she back tracked real fast as if she needed to make rent. I should have left, but the nice person in me said to give her a shot. Each time she started to cut his hair...I was a nervous wreck and getting irritated as she began to eff up my nephew's hair. Then the clippers came out after I specifically asked her not to use them. There it is.... she was about to enlist him in the Marines before I stopped her. I told her to trim his hair and guided her through the process and stop. Time to cut my losses. (no pun intended) Apparently, she told my nephew that I was in a bad mood. Wonder why? Avoid this place like the plague, the FLOWBEE could have done a better job. Plus.. this place charges $3 for shampoo which she didn't even do and they tried to charge me for that sh**! Had decent experiences with them in the past, but the last time was awful. The Asian lady who has the chair just to the left of the cashier stand cut my hair, unfortunately. She also cut my nose with her comb, right on my nose. Didn't notice I was bleeding until I had already tipped her.
