I did not great a "great clip" or have a great experience at this salon. I went in with my kids to get a hair cut. The hair stylists did not listen to what I asked them to do. I specifically asked the stylist to cut an inch off of my hair because I liked the length. She told me I needed to cut three inches to make my hair look healthy. I agreed and asked her to wet my hair before cutting it because it's curly and it will look different when it's dry. She didn't listen. She just wet the ends and cut about 6 inches of my hair off. Never ever going to "great clips" again!!! If you're looking for a quick and cheap hair cut this is the place for you. If you looking for someone to listen to what you want in a hair cut don't go here. read more

I was walking to Safeway and decided to stop by on a whim. I wasn't even sure they did women's hair. Ngoc, I think her name was, promptly greeted me and we discussed what I wanted. She asked a lot of questions about the inspo pic and what I wanted and consulted me the whole time, making sure I was happy with the results. At the end, I was so happy and so shocked that it was only $21! Highly recommend and will definitely come back to see her again! read more

So in the front window, there's a sign that says, "We accept competitors coupons." I went in with a GREAT CLIPS coupon and they refused to accept it. WHAT?? My client was in a rush so he stayed and paid $25 to get his head shaved. I showed two different Great Clips coupons one for an $8.99 haircut the other for $5 off. She refused to take either saying that they don't accept those. So they advertise they accept competitors coupons but the don't honor their own?? read more

Hair stylist was sneaky when she was charging. I had discount coupon she applied but then without letting me know she added higher tip. I would not recommend this place or make sure to not get surprise hidden excessive tip in your bill. read more

If you want a basic trim for your hair this is a good option. I just needed my hair trimmed straight on the bottom. They did what I asked them. The good thing is that I was able to make the appointment and check in on their app before I actually drove there. They are pleasant with their customers and they recommended some products for my dry hair. I will go back there the next time I need a trim. read more

This place used to be very good. Previously the stylists were super friendly, listened to our requests and handled it very well. Now it has definitely gone south. Just came back from my hair cut and had a very bad experience. The lady was clearly in a hurry to get me out, when I asked to reduce my hair length a bit more she was clearly upset and was in a rush to just give excuses that it won't look good. When I asked her to trim my sides, she was again rude and started talking in her native language with her colleague, which ended in laughter. Might be a one off experience but never going back to this same lady. I've been getting haircuts here for several years and always satisfied. At my most recent visit, Julia cut my hair. My hair is long, super thick, course, and wavy, so difficult to manage. She took her time to cut in layers and make sure she understood my requests. She also gave me great suggestions on products to help with moisturizing and detangling. Cons : Just one (important one!) : Expensive! I had a rather simple cut -- No 3 on sides and No 5 on top (took ~10 mins for the entire haircut), and they charged me $17 + tips. Post shut-down review First day of reopening Great Clips is my usual salon. I Used the Great Clips app to sign in. The App gave me a wait time. Headed over there, waited in my car for a few minutes and it was my turn. Lots of plexiglass, stylist had both face mask and shield. Stylist behind me took lots of time between clients to clean station. I was very happy. One worry I had was would it be the same staff, and they were all there. Sent my 15 year old son in to get a haircut at Great Clips on Branham Lane on his own. He came out with a really nice cut and handled it all himself! The staff is so nice in there, I have always really liked them. It is a confidence builder for my son to go in and get what he needs without his Mom hovering over him. Visiting Grandma soon and school pictures in October, the haircut is perfect for all of that. We used the app to book the appointment and there was no wait time. This place is good for a quick fix. I went in for a bang trim and was surprised to see how updated their check in system is. If I had known, I would have put my name down much earlier online than wait 20 minutes in the salon for a bang trim. I wasn't completely happy with my bang trim because it looked a bit crooked to me. The stylist told me that if I want it to be straight and even, I would have to style my bangs all the time. That doesn't sound right to me, hair should be more effortless than that. I rarely get my hair cut unless its to donate it to locks of love. I was a walk in and the ladies were very nice and took me on the spot without a problem. I forgot the lady's name who cut my hair but she was very nice talkative and attentive with my hair. I brought my measuring tape to show the exact amount of hair was to be cut for my donation. She did the 12" cut without a problem. Because of my sensitive scalp regarding my dandruff, she told me about this line of shampoo & conditioner a few of her clients use and haven't had scalp problems since. So I believe I'll be trying it next time as I just switched brands. Also the fact that she went out of her way to get me a plastic bag for my hair donation and I didn't ask for one because I forgot, was a super plus. I also saw that her co-workers were cleaning their scissors and work areas so that shows they do care about being sanitary. I really do not have anything negative to say because I had a great experience and I didn't notice anything bad. The lady who I was lucky enough to get my haircut from was very rude and unprofessional. She asked me how I would like it cut. I told her how I cut it but she told me last time I cut it differently with a rude, upset tone. like she was upset that it was a different haircut. What makes this great is that I have NEVER received a haircut from this lady before in my life! How would she know how I even cut my hair?! I have been going here for like couple of years. The experience hasn't been bad but in last six months it has been going downhill. I usually don't like to write experience till I have experienced it enough. I am increasingly noticing they don't pay attention to hairstyle anymore. One thing I know that hair stylist adapts to haircut based on customers current hairstyle unless asked for specific change. Not only one stylist but many never paid attention to my hairstyle before I sit on the chair and treat me as commodity to get through one more customer. They forget where I do hair parting and start cutting hair much smaller than requested. My wife also had last two bad experience with this people. Avoid going here. read more

She proceeded to race through my haircut missing patches along the way then argued with me when I asked her to make sure it was all even. The first words I spoke to my stylist were, "I'm growing my hair out long." Somehow that got translated into, "Please, cut off all the hair on the back of my head that I've spent the last 6-9 months growing." Obviously, there was some miscommunication here. The lady couldn't understand a word of what I tried explaining to her, and likewise did not do a very good job of communicating back to me what she intended to do. Before I knew what had happened, I had lost most of my hair, and now there's nothing I can do about it save wait another whole year for it to get back to where it was and hope I don't chance upon another incompetent stylist that makes the same mistake. Great Clips is overpriced as it is, charging $19 nowadays for a "hair cut" where all that is required is light trimming. Then they expect a tip, so I'm supposed to pay over $20 for a cut that ruins my head. I've gotten better quality cuts at half the price from a salon across the street from where I live. Just goes to show higher price doesn't reflect higher quality. I've gotten good cuts at a different Great Clips before, but obviously the one at Branham in San Jose is not up to par.
