I would rather take school scissors and attempt to cut my own hair, then go back to this place. This was one of the top five worst haircuts I've ever received in my life and I'm still after two months trying to get my hair to grow out into some sort of a style. I'm still pissed about it. Eight years growing my hair out. I asked for her to follow a line that was already there, while the long, not to be touched hair was up in a bun. When all was said and done, I pulled out a handful of hair and the length and volume of my hair has been reduced drastically. I didn't think I'd have this kind of response to losing this much hair, but I am genuinely upset... I had already tipped and paid. More hair would come out in the parking lot. The back is cut high enough in the middle, that there is just a part/gap in the center where hair used to be and only length on the sides. The older woman cutting my hair was very sweet and polite, so I feel conflicted about this review, but it's necessary that a person knows whatsup, should they go in with hair that's important to them. Not sure where the older lady that works here got her credentials from, but she sent my 12 year old son away with what looked like a home haircut. Uneven, blocky, and not at all what we asked for. The cut was ridiculously bad and when I returned to ask for it to be fixed she didn't offer an apology, speak to us, or otherwise show any sign of concern as to why we were back so soon. The only reason this place gets one star is because her coworker was able to squeeze my son in between his own clients to try and salvage this woman's terrible work. Very unsatisfied. I regularly go to Great Clips for several years, mostly to Coddingtown Mall. If the Mall was closed in my thinking as during Covid, I'd go to the Great Clips on Mendocino Ave in the Safeway Shopping Center near the SRJC. The hours of Great Clips are convenient, Saturdays too. The service is great for a Men's haircut, and I get the same style each time I get a hair cut. between Panda Express and Starbucks. Its a great service that the Hair Stylists document my Hair Cut choices down the the razor clip sizes (2 of them) for each different time I arrive to get a fresh hair cut. I don't need for anything different in styles, and I like their consistency. I used to ask for Thinning Shears in my younger, fuller days. I/They/We stopped for Frizzier temporary splash of vagueness of my mop head. The hair stylists cut nice and even to make my shorter hair from a long duration between hair cuts. I find these are very polite to customers, and stylists are quick in time to cut hair, the shop is not too messy at all with clean up after each one and the wait is short. I always have a chair to sit on. read more

By all means I am not a customer of haircutting franchises. But I saw friend of mine with a great haircut. I asked him where he got it cut and he said it was at great clips in the Coddingtown Mall. I asked who cut his hair and he said Avana. I hope I have the spelling right. She took the extra time to give me a sweet fade. She took her time and did a great job! Not what I usually expect from haircutting franchises. Everyone else there seemed to be giving very nice haircuts to their clients and they were happy as well. One of my favorite locations, this Great Clips is connected to the computerized system which tracks your hair style! It's amazing that you can check-in via app and wait at home instead of the salon. Although the current location is kind of dated looking, they are going to be moving into the mall soon (February 2015?). Don't forget to use a coupon. There are so many that will bring the price of a haircut down to as low as $10. read more

This was the only place on a Saturday that could accommodate our son's haircut without a prior appointment. Redline Barbers were kind of out of the question since they were so busy as usual (at least 7 people lined up outside) and said the wait would be at least 1 1/2 hour, and Kidz Cuts turned us away because they were 'booked up' despite an empty shop. The wait wasn't bad, it was only 20 minutes but I've really got to hand it to the staff for putting up with my kid. Being only a year old, he hasn't gotten accustomed to loud mechanical noises (i.e. vacuum cleaners, barber clips) and he was crying and wriggling the whole time despite sitting on my lap. Our stylist had to resort to traditional scissors but even then he was furious and kept turning his head away from her. She said "Hello, give me one second I am finishing up my my curls. Ok cool go ahead and take your time I said to her. i thought she did good until she just showed the back of my head it looked good until I saw the side of my head. She cut my left side higher and crooked as opposed to the right side which was perfect. In the meantime another customer came in that someone else there had ummmm jacked up. Vi had finished with client before me, then comes over and tells me it's going to be 25 more minutes that he was going to take the person that walked in after me. I have had my great experiences here and my not so great. Today was a great one! I used their online check in and was seen right when I got in. Anneke was my stylist and she was wonderful! I showed her some pictures of what I was going for and she did a great job. I have a mole on my head that usually gets in the way when I get a cut, so I often avoid getting a cut. I gave her my typical heads up about the mole and she took so much care in making sure she didnt run the comb over it or forget it was there. The care she had was exceptional. I had my first haircut in 13 years today. It was a spectacular experience. Let me start this review by letting you know that I am 6'4, and I had hair down to the middle of my back. Needless to say, the cosmetologist had her work "cut" out for her. Once my name was called, I walked up to the very professional, pretty Latina cosmetologist that was going to cut my hair, feeling nervous. I sat down, and the craftsmanship began. She handled our appointment with the utmost professionalism, and made me feel comfortable right away. I gave her a less-than-detailed description of the haircut I wanted, and regardless of my ineptitude to describe the exact look, she came though in aces. I couldn't be happier with the cost or the performance of my Great Clips experience. The defining moment was when I got home, and my Love teared up at my new hairdo. She can't keep her hands off me ;) I wish I could thank the young lady personally who cut my hair, but I was too nervous about losing my ponytail to ask her name. Second time I came (to have someone different cut my hair) I was in 10 minutes before closing time and they refused to give me a haircut, even though Great Clips says it will accept clients coming in before closing time. Yelp failed me. I went in here for a cut and showed my stylist what I wanted. It's nothing like that. It's uneven in some spots, the layers look AWFUL. They don't even flow together. It looks like I let my 5 year old cut my hair. The stylist offered to fix it when I said it didn't look like the picture, but fixing it would mean cutting more off and it'd be shorter than I want. It's hair, it'll grow out, so until it grows out I'll have to walk around town with a haircut that fits in with the 80's. My mistake for going here. Don't make the same mistake. read more

This place is horrible. I've had one decent haircut here, but all of the other "stylists" working here could care less about their service, or the quality of haircut they give. I just got a haircut here, and the stylist didn't show me the back - she was apparently too obsessed with a candy crush game she had been playing, and got me out of there in 3-4 minutes. When I get home, I realize that the back of my hair is completely crooked. They also recently switched to new clippers that are cheap. Spend your money elsewhere, as you're going to have to spend money again to have someone fix the mess they make for you. read more

Bangs were supposed to be a side bang, what I got was a straight across bang that was an uneven on both sides. Did not comb the hair to find all the bangs/hairline, definitely didn't follow any technique, it seemed like just a choppy job. Would not recommend, would not return. read more

I went in for a simple trim. Checked in online, and even though they said I was next, four or five people went before me and I ended up waiting about 45 minutes. When I was like, "umm, why am I waiting so long?" They told me that sometimes they skip over people in the system like it was no big deal and it happens all the time. When I finally got in, they made rude comments about my hair type, (my hair is naturally super oily, and I have super thin hair that knots up easily.) I then told them how I wanted it done, just a small trim on my bangs, and get the dead ends off the rest of my hair. My bangs were WAY too short, horribly uneven, they literally missed AN ENTIRE CHUNK. Plus they added layers when I never said I wanted them, and they looked horrible. When I walked out of there visibly upset, she couldn't BELIEVE that I was upset about it. My hair is the only thing that looks decent on me and you screwed it up. I had to buy bobby pins and a hat from the target next door to make myself looks ok. I'm only here for a visit so thank god I never have to come back here. read more

Can't speak for any other styles but this place is fine for a short, easy, more "conservative" type of men's haircut. 16 bucks, and then you can't go outside anymore without tripping over one of their $3 off coupons, so $13 really. Not gonna find a lower price than that without letting some panicky kid experiment on your head at a barber college. The ladies who work this location are experienced pros and communicative. I can understand hesitancy about a chain if you've ever had your head mauled by Supercuts, but this location is good. read more
