This place is pretty awful. The stylists are untrained and "accidentally" shaved TWO bald spots on the back of my head. They can't even spell the word fade, much less provide that service. If you want to waste $20 and get a haircut that looks like a toddler did it using clippers for the first time, you found the spot. read more

I've gone a lot of times to get my haircut here and it's so hit or miss half the barbers have no clue what they're doing and the other half are decent. I was going to one lady who was amazing and took time to cut my hair well, however she left and now since I've been back not a single decent haircut. They just rush to get your cut done as quick as possible so they can get to the next customer they do not value their customers in the slightest. read more

For a quick, inexpensive haircut, Great Clips is my choice location. Their mobile app is excellent for finding one nearby (Yelp is good too!), and getting checked in ahead of time. I've been able to walk right in and get seated without waiting around for my name to be called. It feels like you're cheating the system, but all is fair in love and haircuttery. The price for a haircut here is cheaper than many others and competes with Supercuts. All said and done, I can leave with my ears lowered for under $17 bucks including tax and tip. The stylists at this location are really friendly and make for an enjoyable experience. To get your money's worth (and avoid those stray itchy hairs all over your neck), ask them to rinse your hair and add a little product before you leave. It's easy and makes you look presentable if you're going back to work or a social affair. Though you're not going to get all the same attention to detail of an upscale barber, sometimes all your head needs is some routine maintenance. read more

By far the worst great clips I've ever been to. I only go to these places for a quick fade or something simple since the service at some locations is mostly sub par to say the least. The woman that cut my hair had a terrible attitude from the start. Every time I would move, scratch my face, check my phone, she would pull her hands from my head really fast and wait until I was done, like seriously? I'm hardly moving and you make it blatantly obvious and may be inconveniencing your job? Psshh woman get off your high horse, you ain't hot and you have a terrible personality. I came in today. I've been here several times, being a former ASU kid and never quite moving out of Tempe. They have great deals - those $7.99 sales (I feel like I've achieved crazy coupon lady status whenever I chance upon these), and the convenience of checking in on their website so that you can minimize your wait in-store. I had long-ish (about mid-back) layered hair and just yesterday cut it into a long bob and I love it. The lady (Alicia, I think) was a perfectionist and gave me wonderful advice on how to style my hair. For instance, how I could hide the fact that my bangs were framing my face - something typical for layers, but not quite advisable for bobs, and how to get rid of those ugly duck tail edges, since it's at that awkward length where your hair follows the curve of your neck. Taking off a star because my boyfriend's hair wasn't quite as stellar as mine, having his hair trimmed by somebody who literally graduated from cosmetology school a week ago. There were several long strands that were missed and cause I am a little OCD, it took a tremendous amount of restraint on my part from plucking off those strands before we reached home and I could find a pair scissors. read more

I was having a wonderful Saturday with my stepsister when I decided to go get bangs! I gave the shop a call and whoever decided to answer the phone was EXTREMELY rude. We proceeded to go into the shop where we were greeted by some extremely kind people. I waited until Amanda came over to cut my bangs. First she cut them straight across and WAY shorter than I asked for and in order to fix it she gave me "side bangs" they looked absolutely horrible and I had to go home and spend about an hour trying to fix the horrendous job she had done. I went here today after leaving a different Great Clips location due to the stylist being very rude (at the Dobson and Guadalupe location). I checked in online right before I walked in and was greeted by a friendly employee who updated my address, etc. I waited less than 2 minutes and was taken back by Kallee. She was nice and made me feel comfortable. I told her what happened at the other location and she apologized for the rude employee, and told me she was glad I ended up at this location. So was I. I showed her a screenshot of the haircut I wanted and she did exactly what I asked for. She didn't rush through my haircut even though there were several other people waiting, who requested her to do their haircuts as well. She even answered all my questions about lightening my hair after recently dying my hair a darker color and gave some good recommendations on hair care, etc. She did a great job on my haircut. I will definitely be going back and asking for her in the future. read more

Cameron is amazing! I had a pretty bad experience the night before with a different stylist and didn't see how bad it was until the morning. I went back (on the verge of tears) and Cameron fixed it so you couldn't even tell how much of a wreck it was when I came in. He was professional, personable, and very understanding. Cameron is clearly very experienced and knows what he is doing--I am so grateful to have had him cut my hair! The reason I have to give this location 4 stars instead of 5 is because of my experience the night before with Jeryll. I don't know how he got his cosmetology license, because it seems like he has never cut hair before. I didn't want anything fancy, I just needed 1 inch off of my layers and a bang trim. When I left, there were NO layers on one side because it was so choppy, and on the other side the front half of my hair was just below ear length and the back half was a couple inches below shoulder length. My bangs were uneven and were not the same length. I couldn't believe that anyone could cut hair so poorly with their cosmetology license. Despite this, I won't judge the location based on one stylist. Everyone else was professional and welcoming. As long as you get the right person, you will have a great experience. Ask for Cameron! He's very talented, and I plan on returning to see him in the future. read more

I've gone to Great Clips a few times in the past, but this was my first experience in Arizona. I was willing to give them a try, especially with a coupon on hand. I waited about 5 minutes before the stylist saw me. Upon entering, I thought the wait was going to be longer as several folks were waiting. Fortunately for me, all the stylists wrapped up their customers at the same time.. I was seated in the chair and the stylist asked how I wanted my hair cut. She promptly did what I asked. She did a great job and was very happy with my haircut. The stylist was very pleasant and had a nice conversation, but not to the point she talked my ear off. Went in close to closing time, was greeted almost immediately by one stylist and was given an accurate wait time. During my wait I was quickly hesitant to be taken by the woman that greeted me, no conversation and quick to cut before communicating with her customer. Luckily I was taken by the other stylist, Helen. She was upbeat and open to conversation, she worked well with my parameters because I'm growing out an awkward cut but wanted to clean it up. She walked me through her thoughts since I came in unprepared, kindly explained why her suggestions made more sense then what I was originally thinking & I'm glad I agreed! I frequent this Great Clips at least once a week and have always been very satisfied however as of today I feel that the manager is discriminating against disabled people. I have my hair washed here due to neck and back issues I cannot wash, brush or blow dry my own hair which Rosie and Addy usually take the time to do for me but now the manager has reprimanded them and told them that to provide this service to me they would have to charge me a style charge of $35 instead of the $4.00 ( this price just went up from $3) and I tip well for what they do. Is Cindy so concerned with making money that you would discriminate against a client by wanting to charge them such and exorbitant fee for washing, brushing and blowing dry my hair (it is definitely not styled I have long straight hair) Somebody should get their priorities in order!!! read more

I have been going to Great Clips for years. Usually I get a decent haircut. I went to this location a few days ago and I am sorry I did. Katie was my "stylist." I asked her for a trim and to make it short enough on top so that I could spike it up. I wear glasses so I took them off while she was cutting my hair. When I put them back on to see what she had done I literally could not believe my eyes. My hair was less than an inch long and nearly shaved to the scalp in the back. It is the worst haircut I have ever gotten. I don't even want to go out of my house until it grows back. I will never return to this location. Perhaps the other people working here listen to what their customers want but Katie did not. read more

When I say 'partner' and then you proceed with 'friend, or whatever... I don't know the PC term' to refer to my same-sex partner immediately after I JUST said it, that is an issue. Came here looking to get a trim all around while maintaining the same hairstyle. I told Helen not to look at my previous notes because I didn't want to get as short of a cut as last time. She became very frustrated and confused from a simple haircut request. After that she says: "If you're going to ask my opinion on how it looks later...don't...because I'm not going to remember you or care when you walk out of here." I was in disbelief that an employee would tell a customer that. and I didn't even ask for her opinion or say anything close to that! haircut ended up okay, but she rushed through it, taking maybe 5 minutes in total. She started to cut the sides of my hair, but since it was wetted down, part of my front was parted into the side and she started to cut my front the same length as my sides! I told her to stop for a second so I can fix it myself and then she tried to school me about haircutting and one up me for the rest of the time! like, lady all I asked for was a trim! It was my second time visiting this location and the previous time was a good experience. However I just visited this location this past weekend and I had the absolute worst experience. For starters when I arrived and I was giving the woman my information she asked if I had been there before I told her yes and gave her my phone number. She was very rude and condescending, she was not able to locate me in their system, I let her know that they had not asked for my phone number the last time I was there, she said in the nastiest way possible "well we always ask for the phone number". After a couple of minutes she finally found me and said they had me with a completely different phone number, they must of made one up for me because I've had my number for years. My haircut was okay but the overall atmosphere of the place was horrible. I also overheard another stylist give attitude to an older woman waiting to get her haircut, she pretty much yelled at her "No ma'am we haven't skipped you, we will call you up when you're next." The older woman could not be nicer she had just asked them a simple question. I would not recommend this place to anybody, very rude stylist with poor customer service skills. read more
