I really do have a lot of love for Perfect Cut as my son always gets a fantastic haircut here, and in the past I've had some genuinely lovely cuts myself (shoutout to Jess and Erika, if I'm remembering right .. you two are wonderful!). But I have to share my most recent experience because, well, it was a little discouraging. A new stylist spent about 15 minutes doing a quick dry trim mostly my bangs and I was charged for a full haircut. Even the gal at the front desk called it a "bang trim," so I know I'm not imagining things. I completely understand as it's a business, and I respect that! But the bangs came out pretty uneven, and I think wetting and straightening them first would've made a big difference. The whole team here is incredibly friendly, the prices are super reasonable, and the walk-in setup is convenient. If you sign up for their texts you can even snag a $2 off coupon every now and then, which is adorable. I'll keep bringing my son, but I may explore other options for myself for now. read more

The lady I had whacked my hair and did techniques I asked her not to do. I only wanted a blunt cut with a little face framing, which is very simple. Now I have to go somewhere else to have it fixed, which means paying more money! They don't give refunds, only gift certificates. Why would I go back and give them my business! Got my hair cut here about a month ago. I didn't get the lady's name, but she reeked of cigarettes and sounded drunk. Should have left but didn't want to be rude. I just get a buzzcut. Her station is dusty and unkempt. After she's done cutting my hair with the clippers, she grabs another set that has a MASSIVE tuft of white hair in it like she didn't clean it. I go, "Are you gonna clean that?!" And she, in her lazy, drunken, vocal fry voice goes, "I sprayed it (then gestures to disinfectant spray) but I didn't wipe it." I then ask, "Did you clean the clippers you just cut my hair with?" And she insists she did but it's obvious she didn't. She was legit a slob. I rushed home to wash my hair but, despite my best efforts, I developed folliculitis I am still dealing with nearly a month later. I'm on antibiotics I got from a dermatologist right now. I've gotten my hair cut at this place before and the other barbers were nice, but this lady was a train wreck and infected me with her unsanitary tools. Just go somewhere else. I'm back to upgrade my review. I can't say enough about Perfect Cuts at the Oceanside location at Cannon and South Melrose.. Upon entering the establishment you are greeted and asked what kind of service you want. My hairstylist is Erica and depending on the day of the week, there are usually four stylists working. After your hair procedure, the area is cleaned up quickly to prepare for the next customer. This year the owner of the establishment remodeled the inside and the color is such a peaceful refreshing comfortable color. Some items were moved around and It is simple,clean and cheerful and a pleasant place to sit for a while and have your hair done and made to feel comfortable during your visit. I have (well HAD) very long hair. I've been growing it out for years. I finally got my hair to a length I was really happy about, and just wanted to jet the ends trimmed to keep it healthy. I went in to Perfect Cuts and asked for a 1 inch trim. What I was given was 1" taken off one side and 4" taken off the other. I honestly cried that they had botched a simple trim so badly. My friends convinced me to at least have them even it out for me. So I went back. HUGE MISTAKE! They now cut the side that was too long, too short...so now I have 5" taken off my hair. 5 INCHES....and it's still not straight. I'm so angry, and so sad that they couldn't cut a simple straight line! It's going to take me a full year to grow this our again! If you value your hair...do NOT go here! read more

My boyfriend and I came into this haircut place for him to get a haircut, and a bang-trim for myself. Although I paid 14 dollars for a bang trim (including tip) that left me unsatisfied, my boyfriends cut was much worse. The lady was sweet, but she cut into his hair line in multiple places, and took out a big chunk of his hairline on one of the sides. I called in to ask for a refund for his cut, but the manager said they don't do refunds, but that my boyfriend could let his hair grow back in and he could come get another cut. It didn't make any sense for him to come back to the same place that messed up his hair. I don't recommend this place honestly, especially not for guys. read more

Brought my son in for a haircut and his usual stylist was not there today. The new girl Tejah, immediately conversed with my soon to be 7 year old as if he was her little brother. She displayed professionalism and a desire to give him the cut I asked for. She may be newer to cutting hair but she wanted to make sure I was happy. She got a little help from the shift leader on how to get the task done as it was just a little bit off. I was pleased to see her willingness to accept critique and instruction which is a great asset to have in this type of service industry where repeat customers become loyal. Hair cutters are pretty good in both locations. They have a policy of not taking appointments for men's haircuts. Just walk ins. But they take appointments for women. Guess guys just don't get charged enough. The don't tell you why, so we are left to Guess. Gal that's been working reception in both sites for years is more than rude half the time. Bad attitude. The rest of the people there are exceptionally nice, so it's easy to overlook. read more

I'm a senior, retired military, and like a clean cut look. But not the same look as required when I was on active duty. I've found 2 ladies who to quote my wife "cut my hair exactly the way it should be." Both at The Perfect Cut, Oceanside. Unfortunately one left, but fortunately for me, Erika is there. If you go to this location on Cannon Rd. ask for Erica. She is the sweetest, most talented hair stylist I have ever had. I always ask for her when I go and I have been going to her for the past 2 years or so. I recommended her to my mom and my mom always has good experiences with her too. Last time I went, Erica was busy so I let this other stylist with red hair cut my hair. I am not very happy with the experience or the results. Some pieces of my hair were not trimmed. The front is longer than the back even though I asked for front layers to frame my face. As soon as more customers walked in, it felt like she was rushing to cut my hair so she can take them. As soon as she was done she walked over to the register and started talking to the new clients that had walked in asking them if they remember her. I paid, tipped her and said thank you. I came in an hour or so before closing because my daughter had a gnarly knot (dread) going on in her hair. I tried everything to get it out but couldn't. The ladies were extremely helpful. They were patient with my daughter, who is 4, and it was her first haircut. They were able to get the knot out, and gave her a nice trim. My daughter was so excited to get her hair back to normal, and loved her new cut. I am extremely appreciative of their kindness and patience. My son also got his haircut, and it came out great. After years of expensive haircuts @ drama-filled, loud and noisy salons- I finally found a home for my haircuts! - Dee is legit! I showed her the hair style I wanted- she wash, cut, dried and styled it exactly how the pic looked- in less than 30 minutes and at 1/2 the cost of Ulta. She's so great at her craft that I won't be going anywhere else- I even hugged her because the style was perfect. Kara (front desk) was pretty awesome too- both are very personable & sweet ladies- sometimes that's all you need to turn a rotten day, into a good one. -I'll be back, for sure! read more

I bring my boys on occasion, and rate a four overall, because we have had mixed results. First the bad: once we came in for a trim and were up next, a walk-in showed up as the hairdresser was finishing. I overheard that she was getting a color/cut and requested that particular hairdresser. Rather than have her wait until my son was finished with his trim, the hairdresser took her immediately in front of my son. I thought that was bad customer service big time to make us wait another 15 minutes for the next person . If you request a specific hair person and there's someone else waiting and is there first , you don't just skip over them. Because it's a convenient location we have gone there again despite this happening. Now the good: We ended up at Fantastic Sams by Albertsons after school, due to convenience, for my younger son's cut. They destroyed his hair ...he went in for a trim and came out with this poor version of a "Peaky Blinders" cut that wasn't even done correctly. A "gentleman's cut " which was not what he asked for whatsoever. I have added first /second cut pictures for your entertainment. It was awful so we immediately went to Perfect Cut , to attempt a fix.There wasn't much we could do because he was half scalped. But they cleaned it up pretty well with what they had to work with. So they are redeemed in my opinion and we will probably go there again. read more

I went there for my 11am reservation. They were packed. I know a reservation means it might not be exactly on time, I would think up to about 15 minutes or so. Saying it would be 30-40 minutes was a bit much. I was told it is first come, first served. So why mark a time at all when I called to make a reservation Days ago? As I could not stand on my broken foot that long ( there was no available seating and it was 80+ outside) I told them I would go some place more respectful. read more

It has taken me a few years to settle on a haircut shop since moving to Oceanside/Vista but I have found the best. I now rely on Perfect Cuts employee Jessica for all my haircuts. It seems she is always working, dedicated to her craft, listens carefully to each customer's needs, and can handle an unlimited number of haircuts. She is competent, fast, consistent and pleasant. On more than one occasion I have seen her run the entire operation by herself while exhibiting no sign of stress, just gets it all done with ease. They were very polite and did a wonderful job taking care of the three customers plus me that were there. Ran in after work to get my hair washed, cut, and styled. A small wait time like 15 min which is no biggie especially when I know I'm gunna get a fresh cut! My girl Dee is AMAZING!!!! She talked me through options for repairing my hair (because I bleached it recently at home), best head massage while washing my hair, and gave me a cut and style without feeling rushed. They create a great environment while maintaining social distancing protocols which as we all know is so hard for businesses to do these days. This place truly understands customer service and if you go in ask for Michelle! My husband comes every Sunday and liked everyone so much I decided to get my hair done. BEST CHOICE I COULD'VE MADE! The staff was friendly and in the absolute nicest way made me aware that the person who did my hair prior did some real damage.
