I recently attended an appointment at Great Expression Dentistry in Naples, FL. I feel it is necessary to explain my experience and for the company to put measures in place to make sure future patient rights are not violated as I was. There are a few positives I would like to mention about my experience at the clinic. It was clean, they seemed to be running on time, the dental assistant was kind, and they did a good job taking my x-rays. Unfortunately, the positives stop here. Complaints and concerns are as follows: 1. Initially I was told I have a $5 co-pay for each office visit. I consulted with my insurance company and was told this is false; there is a $0 copay per visit. Great Expressions did not properly verify the insurance benefits before my appointment. 2. I received a complete set of x-rays and a panoramic film x-ray at the appointment. The latter was not covered under my insurance. Upon speaking with my insurance company, I was told both of these x-rays given on the same date are considered a duplication of services and are not medically necessary. This dentist office is trying to take advantage of its clients by performing unnecessary x-rays. 3. The dentist, Dr. Fidler, was abrupt and rude. He came into the room, asked if I was in any pain, looked at my teeth, said a few things to his assistant, and abruptly left. He did not allow time for me to ask him questions, he didn't speak with me about the condition of my teeth, didn't give me tips on how to improve things. He took a "quick peek" and left. In fact, he was speaking to his assistant about the condition of my mouth while walking down the hallway leaving the exam room. I thought he was leaving the room to get something and the dental assistant said the visit was complete. Every dentist I've ever seen consulted with me, the patient, after examining my mouth and we've worked together on how to improve things. This guy said a few things to his assistant and walked out so I didn't even get a chance to ask questions, very unprofessional. 4. After waiting a second time in the waiting room, one of the ladies working the front desk named Laura called me up and wanted to discuss the "treatment plan" in the waiting room in front of everyone. Patient conditions should be discussed in private, not in a waiting room where other patients can eavesdrop and learn about my personal health conditions - this place VIOLATED MY HIPPA!! 5. I had questions about the treatment recommended versus my current health condition and the front desk girl, Laura, started using a nasty tone and said, "This is what the doctor recommended during the visit and if you don't follow this plan, you cannot continue as a patient." First of all, the dentist saw me for literally 2 minutes and never actually spoke with me, so I never agreed nor was consulted about anything. When I questioned the clinical decisions, Laura, the front desk girl, sarcastically stated she is not clinical, the dentist doesn't have time to speak with me, and his recommendation stands (still in the middle of the waiting room). I never had a chance to hear the rationale for the recommendations nor did I learn about the current condition of my mouth; I had legitimate concerns that were silenced. I went to this dentist because I changed insurances and my previous dentist doesn't take my new insurance. I go to the dentist every six months and they always give me a standard cleaning. I wanted to continue the typical x-rays/exam/cleaning at this place, but they won't let me. Apparently, the front desk girl stated my upper teeth & gums are in poor condition and need an intense cleaning which will include a numbing lotion and antibiotic. I never heard of an antibiotic and numbing lotion for a cleaning. This place is doing everything they can to get as much money out of people as they possibly can, which is very unfortunate. I am involved in other health studies for serious health complications and cannot be putting unnecessary antibiotics into my blood stream. I don't understand how they can argue with the customer (who pays their bills) in the middle of the waiting room full of other patients. 6. I filed a complaint with their corporate office, and later Laura spoke with me over the phone, lecturing me because I complained about her. Laura told me I am no longer welcome at their place of business and they refuse all future services. By law, a medical practice must provide services to a patient for at least 30 days before dismissing them from a practice. Also, based on my insurance regulations, I am assigned to this practice (as they accepted me) and can only change facilities the 1st day of each month if I submit for a change by the 15th of the previous month. I spoke with the regional supervisor regarding all these concerns once, she said she was going to call me back, but never did. Dentist review We were very disappointed with the experience at this dentist. They insisted on taking a panoply of X-rays, although we had provided X- rays from our NJ dentist taken less than six months ago. They refused to do a cleaning unless another visit was scheduled at which point they would need to do a "deep cleaning" at a higher cost than a regular cleaning. We have never heard of a distinction being made about the type of cleaning that was to be provided and a difference in price. Nor have we ever been advised that two visits were needed before a cleaning could be done. When we decided to switch back to our NJ dentist, we had to make several requests and encountered difficulties that we believe were unwarranted, just to get our records. read more

They are crooks. Do not go. Absolutely horrific. DO NOT GO HERE I recently had a very negative experience at the Great Expressions Dental Center in Naples, FL. I went in for a simple cleaning, but I was pressured into undergoing unnecessary and expensive treatment. I had recently moved to Naples from NJ, and I brought my recent x-rays with me to the appointment. I told the dentist, Dr. Fidler, that I did not want to repeat the x-rays, as I had already been exposed to a lot of radiation in the very recent past. He agreed, but then he proceeded to examine me for only about 5 minutes before leaving with a treatment plan. The treatment plan included a deep cleaning and antibiotic treatment, which would cost $1093 per side, for a total of $2196. Dr. Fidler also recommended osseous surgery, which would cost an additional $1587. These all procedures are to done by a hygienist and not a by periodontist. I was very surprised by the cost of the treatment, especially since I had only wanted a simple cleaning. I asked the dental assistant to explain the treatment plan in more detail, but she was unable to do so. She told me that Dr Fidler is busy again ( he saw me after my waiting 90 min for 5 min). The office manager canceled my appointment, and I told her that I was to budget and go for the deep cleaning with out the antibiotic (Monocycline Arestin) The office manager was very rude to me. She told me that I had to do everything that Dr. Fidler said, or he would be liable for malpractice. He has agreat track record and he will risk malpractice fr one patient. She also refused to provide me with the cost of a simple cleaning. I am very disappointed with my experience at Dental Center in Naples, FL. I feel like I was pressured into undergoing unnecessary and expensive treatment. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone. All I wanted was a cleaning. They told me I had to come in first, so I did. As the tech took X-rays, she told me I needed a panoramic X-ray, which was $30 that I would have to pay. I declined. She left the room and returned within 10 seconds and said it was covered by my insurance. I smelled a rat. When she put the shield on me, I requested a thyroid protector. They told me they only do that if you have thyroid issues, which I do. They then declined to do the X-ray. Rat number 2. I then had a very thorough exam and was told I needed an extra (uncovered by insurance at a cost of $95) procedure during my cleaning. Rat #3. I then went to the desk to get my cleaning scheduled, without that additional procedure ask was told that they refused without the additional procedure, telling me they would be guilty of malpractice. Rat #4. FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, ALL THE WANTED WAS TO FLEECE ME. THEY HAD NO DESIRE TO GIVE ME THE SIMPLE CLEANING I WANTED. THEY ARE SHEISTERS !! read more

I am VERY happy with Dr Fidler, my dentist is FABULOUS! My crown broke and he fit me RIGHT IN and took x-rays and we have proceeded from here for a new crown replacement. Very friendly staff as I explained my situation and she spoke to Dr Fidler as she saw the reason for my concern. HIGHLY Recommended! read more

I went there for a first visit, since I considered to switch from my Dentist. All I wanted was a Teeth-cleaning. After waiting for nearly 2 hours and multiple X-rays, Dr.F. evaluated my teeth and came up with a treatment plan. His Assistant told me, that the first evaluation would cost me $ 137 with my savings plan, but if I signed up with their "Smile Protection" it would be free!!! FREE cost me $ 120 for the "Smile Protection"!!! At home I did my homework and compared the "Smile Protection" with my existing Dental Plan. Most treatments were up to 40% cheaper at my plan. Don't fall for their push for "Smile Protection"! Needless to say...I stay with my "old" Dentist. read more

I have no problem with Dr. Fidler or Max, who is a great Hygienist. The office staff have been by and large rude and condescending, especially Tiffany. They will upsell you as much as they can get away with; love throwing around "periodontal" and deep cleaning, which of course are scare tactics for additional charges. My wife moved on due to unnecessary work and poor treatment by the admin. Apparently they can't keep Hygienists now. Understandable. Time to move on. read more

I hate dentists and avoid them at all costs. So when Covid hit I wasn't too concerned that I was moving from Miramar to Naples. I had broken my tooth and it wasn't hurting. No big deal. The dentist in Miramar wanted 1k to fix the tooth... yes, I had insurance but, buildups, crowns, and extras and he wasn't sure it was going to be salvageable. I've been to this dentist 3 times. The first was a check-up/ X-rays, the second was my cleaning and the third was for my temp crown. I have nothing but great things to say about this weekend place. The doctor? Gentle... kind... compassionate... knowledgeable.... Seriously, I'm a big wuss and I didn't feel a thing. The temp crown fit better than my other crowns I had received "up north". I will do another review as I do have other issues that need to be dealt with, but I don't dread going here. read more

First, I want to thank everyone at this location for being so gentle and kind. Next, I read these reviews and just find it funny that people do not understand that your teeth are related to your heart health. When we are older, we require more to get the bacteria off our teeth sometimes especially if we were not "regulars" at the dentist to begin with, or if we did not have the best diet. I think that 3 - 4x's per year to help prevent heart disease is nothing. Look for the decreases in that when people start taking better care of their teeth. Also, the prices may be higher, but you get what you pay for. Trust me, he is going to fix the work of another "Cheaper" dentist. read more

I went here for around 3 years. They forgot to have me take X-Rays for 2 of those years. They finally took X-Rays again and found SIX cavities. They had all progressed farther than they should have been allowed to. I would've had to only get small fillings on all of them. I decided to leave here and go to my mom's dentist where they found 3 more, making 9 cavities in total. I got them all filled but one of the fillings fell out 3 times. I now have to get a crown on that tooth. This all could have been prevented if they had just done their job and taken X-Rays. read more

They are crooks. Do not go. Diagnosed me and my husband both with periodontal disease. Refused to do a normal cleaning and wanted to charge $600 after insurance to do a deep cleaning. Then said we both needed to be seen 3 or 4 times a year. They prey on northerners who are relocating south and tell us our former dentist was incompetent which mine certainly was not. Very upsetting. I am very surprised by the negative reviews for this office- first off, dental work is never cheap. Also, it shouldn't be. When you get work done on your teeth, you want it done the right way. I've had multiple things done and they have always made sure I was happy with the job. I've gone for everything from a simple cleaning to a TRIPLE root canal (in one day) and I can confidently say that this was the best place to go. There was no pain before, during, or after the root canals. Hard to believe, but true. All pricing depends on your insurance, but it was 100% worth what I went through. Dr. Fidler and his team really make me feel comfortable about getting my teeth worked on, and we all know that's hard to come by. Highly recommend this office! read more

If you decide to go there , be aware of what you are getting yourself in to . I went there because I had a filling on my posterior tooth that had fallen . I had it done up north during the summer and needed to have it re done . I have no dental insurance , so they pushed me in to the smile protection plan, a discounted plan that I paid $69 for and would cover my first visit and give me discounted fees on any work that I needed done . So I looked and the price for a composite - one surface , posterior was $127. Made the plan and went for the visit. The actual dentist probably spend less then 5min looking at my tooth and never came back . His assistant came with an estimate of $427 . I said I wanted just the filling that was $127 and she said he wouldn't do that one because it would probably fall again after a while . I told her that I would assume the risk and that was my option . The dentist never came back to talk to me and his assistant said he would not do that . Long story short , I was ripped of $69 . Don't belive anything they try to sell you or the sheet with prices they give you . They are just trying to sell on something they won't honor. will never go there again and don't recommend anyone to go. They don't care about the patient , only on selling their plans that they don't honor . read more

My experience was terrible. It was very much like the other review in June from the 37 year old. I felt taken advantage of and the office personnel were very arrogant and uninformative. I wanted an exam and a cleaning, but the dentist told me I needed deep cleaning for $500. I cancelled the insurance they sold me and then got rebilled for it on my credit card. I am having a terrible time getting a refund. Do not go to this dentist or buy the insurance. read more

I believe Dr. Fidler at the a Great Expressions Dental, Naples Fl is the best, most caring, and kind dentist I have ever come across. He repaired the mess prior dentists had made. Absolutely horrific. DO NOT GO HERE. There is a reason this office has terrible reviews. Trust them. It's sad to have to witness people that treat others so poorly but if you want to avoid being a victim, beware, beware, beware. First of all, the dentist is apparently not satisfied with the relatively excessive high pay he gets so apparently he thinks he is suppose to tell you absolute BS as to what you need done for your treatment plan. I saw many dentists, a few who actually were ethical, that told me exactly what I needed done and why. Either he's conscious of his baloney or not fully conscious to begin with, either way, you don't need to waste your time on the discovery process. But the doctor was actually the nice guy. The secretary was the epitome of execrable incarnate. The great expression of dental hell on earth. Avoid like ebola. read more

I am 37 years old and have regularly been going to the dentist for cleanings since I was 16 years old. I take good care of my teeth and up until I was 34 I never had a cavity-I ended up with a very small one and had a sealing put in. I was working far away from home and saw a dentist close to my work for 6 years. This past year I started a new job and because of the distance and not having insurance I let 1 year go by without a cleaning. I finally got Dental Insurance and unfortunately the plan isn't very great. The dentists that I could see were limited and because of location I chose Great Expressions Dental. The "factory" setting sort of turned me off when I first walked in. We had a long wait before being seen. When I received my exam & xrays I was treated nicely. I mentioned that it had been a while since my last cleaning. The dentist came back and told me that I had periodontal disease and required a special scaling & root cleaning with antibiotics and that each cleaning would cost $285 for each quadrant of my mouth. Then, going forward once this was completed I would have to have special cleanings that would average $90 out of pocket for the rest of my life. He said that my gums were a 5 on the periodontal scale which is bad. He also told me I had 2 cavities that needed to be filled. I was shocked and frightened. I couldn't believe that this had all happened in a year. I couldn't understand why my previous dentist never warned me about this. So, I sought out a 2nd opinion. I luckily found a regular dentist office that was like what I am used to and they immediately told me I did not have periodontal disease based on my xrays but they would do the exam to be sure. He said my gums were maybe a 2 at most which isn't bad but he felt strongly that after a regular cleaning I wouldn't probably have any issues. He also told me I had 1 want to be cavity but he didn't see any reason to fill it at this time. Meanwhile, my son had an exam & then I scheduled him for a cleaning at Great Expressions Dental. I didn't get much detail from him but he asked me to find him another dentist too because he wasn't comfortable at all at their office. I feel like they were going to take advantage of me and I advise people not to use their services. While sharing my story with other dentist practices and friends & family they have all said they heard bad things about Great Expressions Dental. read more
