Had no idea this place replaced the sandwich soup shop. The owner of Great India had first opened Bombay House in Provo in the early 1990's and later opened the one on Foothill that later moved to Parlay's way. Not sure what happened during the separation of business partners but he has now opened this location. Great tasting food, excellent service, some things are a bit spicy for my palate. Wow, what an awesome restaurant! We've come to Great India three times now and every meal has been excellent. We brought our friend from India here and he said the curries were legit. One of the things we love about this place is that the curries are all delicious but also don't all taste the same. We've had the Mattar paneer, bhindi (okra), vindaloo, Rogan Josh (lamb) and vegetable masala. We loved all of them and it's hard to pick a favorite. The spice levels here are no joke, another thing we love. There's mild, medium and spicy, then after spicy you can get 1x up to 10x spicy. On the Indian scale the spiciest we tried was 6 and it was very, very spicy but still flavorful. We finished it but were sweating! Even the 2 packed a punch and I think 3 was perfect. Their service is quick, attentive and friendly. The mango Lassi is also delicious- tangy and flavorful. I can't wait to be back for another delicious meal! read more

The food is really tasty and flavorful. Highly recommend the chicken saag and highly impressed with their spicy level. Skimming through their menu, they had many options to choose from. I saw choices like Chicken Mango, and I'm really curious to try that one next time. You got your safe savory choices and your more sweeter options. Their whole menu sounded appetizing. This is a relatively new restaurant in the Midvale/Bingham Junction area near Freddy's and Trolley Wing Co. it used to be a grilled place, and a lot of the interior remains from the former establishment. I was greeted and seated quickly and efficiently by a warm and kind lady who was serving as the host that afternoon. She gave me some recommendations and I selected a small plate consisting of Channa Masala and fried naan. The food was brought out quickly. The Channa Masala was expertly prepared and perfectly spiced (I went with medium spice and was perfect, a little kick without distracting from the flavor. The fried naan was also cooked perfectly but personally I find I prefer fresh baked naan to fried. Overall an excellent experience. Service was comprehensive and friendly. The restaurant is clean and open and the campiness of the "Say Cheese!" And "get grilled" give the place a surprisingly fun ambiance. 8/10, highly recommend. read more

I have been struggling to find an Indian restaurant that is comparable to Bombay House. If you were too, look no further, I think I've found it! Unlike many Indian restaurants, the inside was brightly lit and colorful -- a more modern style. I ordered the Saag Paneer, which was my first time trying it and it was okay. The Paneer tastes like a very light mozzarella cheese, but with a tofu texture. I can't compare it to anywhere else because I've never tried it anywhere else. I tried my friend's Chicken Tikka Masala and it was heavenly... I'm going for that next time. We got in right around 4, when they opened for dinner, so that might explain why it took almost 40 minutes for our food to come out. For spice levels, I got medium and felt like it was the perfect amount of spice. It is more on the spicier side, but not at an un-consumable level. read more

It looks like just another Indian restaurant, but this place should not be taken for granted!!!! I came here on a week night and there were only 2 other parties with us in the restaurant. The service is amazing, and the food came sooo fast! They were friendly to us, even when we stayed for about 2 hours. I ordered the butter chicken and a garlic naan. It was enough food to feed me once at home as well! The only critique is that I think it would be helpful if they were clear about the fact that you pay up front. We waited for the check for a while and they didn't come check in with us. Overall, I will be back! I was too hungry to snap a pic but I'll be back! read more

The food here is absolutely incredible. No other way to state it. My Dad and I are visiting Salt Lake City to ski and we're staying in midvale. Since we didn't have access to a car, we braved the cold and walked 30 minutes to get here. And I can say it was absolutely worth it. We were seated and had our orders taken quickly. We ordered the butter chicken and lamb tikka masala. It came out very quickly. And with the first bite my taste buds were met with a world of spice. The meat was cooked perfectly and the sauce was just insane. The restaurant is decorated with Indian art pieces, and there was some funky Indian pop playing in the background. Overall a wonderful experience and very worth the time. (Ate my food too fast and forgot to take a pic but here's my Dad after a hearty meal here) read more

I came to Utah to ski for a few days and stayed at the hotel across from Great India. We ordered from them the second night after getting back from skiing... And it was SO GOOD that we also ordered the 4th night... And when I say good, I mean, it is literally the BEST Indian food I have EVER had and I've eaten at plenty of Indian restaurants coming from Southern California. The Butter Chicken and Chicken Vindaloo were perfection the first night. As was the Naan and the Onion pakora... The second night we were getting back late from skiing at Brighton and I called the restaurant to see if we could pickup after 930. The owner was so gracious and said no problem... Everything looked so delicious, and I was so hungry I didn't know what to order and the owner just ordered for me. He suggested the chicken special, the chicken kadai and the chicken shahi korma... I cannot even begin to properly articulate the level of flavor, heat, freshness, and overall beauty of each of these dishes. There is no way I can find equivalent Indian food in my California neighborhood and while I see people say this is the best Indian restaurant in Utah County, I would have to expand on that to include the entire southwest and Southern California. Do NOT hesitate even the tiniest but to eat here! I look forward to my next trip as Great India will most definitely be on the permanent itinerary. read more

Such nice service but this is really subprime Indian food. In their defense I only tried one dish (chicken tikka masala) so other dishes here might be great but it was not good. It tasted like they used jalapeño to add heat and a heavy green pepper flavor overwhelmed the dish. The naan was very good and again, they provided great service, but it was really disappointing. Also just so you know the setting is very casual - almost like walk up service. You order at the table but pay at the front register. Service was fast though! read more

I love seeing a family owned restaurant fill in this space -- I'm bummed it left us wishing for more. Service is great, the family is friendly, and the menu looks great. Portions, though, are a little bit small for what you pay and the flavors seemed off. They weren't as deep and rich as I was hoping. It seemed the curry needed more time to simmer and build flavor. Fantastic place! Service was very fast and our waiter was very helpful in selecting spice levels and choosing between dishes. Restaurant feels cozy, but plenty of space between tables and able to hear your parties conversation. Bathrooms are very clean. TLDR; This food brought tears to my eyes I am by no means an expert on Indian cuisine. Such a vast country where food changes from one style to another depending on their background. I am, however, a lover of Indian cuisine. If you ask me about any Indian restaurant in Utah, there is a chance I have tried it. In recent years, I have had to go gluten-free due to health declining, and alas, Great India has gluten-free options. Anyways, I have sworn to try Shahi Paneer from every single place that carries it in Utah. It is my life's mission. On a snowy day, with my family, we ended up taking a wrong turn and somehow all pointed our fingers at this restaurant we had never tried or heard of!! We walk in and are greeted swiftly and kindly taken to our seats. We were asked if we had any questions and told about favorites and popular dishes. I, in alignment with my life's journey, ordered the Shahi Paneer. Needless to say, when I left, there was no Shahi Paneer left. Upon the first bite, all of my family simultaneously paused. Widened eyes stared at each other in surprise. It was then followed by gasps and exclamations from all at how amazing the food was. So far, in my entire trek across Utah, I have never had better Indian food. We have come back time and time again despite it being nearly a 45-minute drive from where we are located. We have tried a different dish every time, and there has not been a single disappointment. We have brought friends who have lived and are from India and even they have the same reaction! In short, the atmosphere, the food, the people - 10/10 If you have the chance to try this place, GO!! read more

Very tasty, quick and convenient, just walked out of our hotel. So many choices. We tried a little of everything.

We ordered a lot of food, so we would have leftovers to bring home. We had 2 appetizers, the samosas and paneer pakoras. Both were really delicious. I would want to try the onion pakora on our next visit. For our mains, we had the chicken daal and the shrimp coconut korma. Those were delicious as well. They came with rice that was also flavorful and went great with those dishes. For me, the star of the show was the garlic cheese naan. I wanted leftovers, but I easily could have eaten it all. Looking forward to going back and trying more things. I will probably opt for the medium spice, as I went mild and it could have used more spice for my taste. We spoke to the owner and he encouraged me to try the spicier option and he would make sure I liked it. That was an awesome customer service touch on his part. Great experience. Hope they are able to stay in business as they are in a center with like 8 other eating places and across the street from half a dozen more. read more
