I came in after a book signing, completely starving! I wasn't told that the flan's syrup had coffee in it and I've never seen or heard of flan with coffee in or on it. I can't have coffee for medical reasons, but like 70% of Utah can't have coffee for "religious" reasons so that should be labeled. I'm glad they gave me a new one, but I wish I would've have had some because it made me sick. The lemongrass tofu was fine and the sauce and flakes they gave me to make it spicy weren't spicy, but the meal wasn't bad. My friend ordered the beef fried ramen and it was very good! A little surprised to find sliced apple in my sandwich but it complimented the lemongrass tofu very well. Bread was good and veggies were fresh. I also ordered their five spice tofu vegan roll. Lots of fresh lettuce and you can tell the rice wrappers were just made. Couldn't really taste the five spice on the soy product but the peanut sauce made for good dipping. You don't need to be a vegan to enjoy great Vietnamese Vegan Food. This was my first time visiting Vegan Bowl. I ordered the Lemongrass Chickun Vermicelli Noodle salad. I ordered Chickun instead of Tofu because tofu is the go to vegetarian option at most Vietnamese Restaurants. You may wonder what Chickun is like. It has a chewy texture and is similar to chicken, but it is obviously not real chicken. I like chicken just fine, but there is something satisfying about Chickun that I have a difficulty putting my finer on. it is kind of weird, but delicious. The best part about the salad is that they don't skimp on the vegetables. All are fresh and delicious. I look forward to exploring their menu. The location is just off Redwood Road in a strip mall. The extra sauce looked like more teriyaki flavor, but wasn't. The cashier/server was nice. The restaurant is clean. Service is quite quick. The portions are good. We will be back for sure! I took away a star because: 1. No phó spoons. I was given a teaspoon to eat all that soup. That makes it rather tiresome 2. Everything is plastic and disposable. Tried this place for the first time last night. We ordered the spring roll combo, the pho, and the chikun lemongrass noodle bowl. The pho was fantastic. Tasted like the non vegan soup I'm so used to. The faux meat was clearly faux but the texture was satisfying and the flavors were not off-putting at all. They need to serve more of the hoisin and Sriracha than typically comes with it so you may want to ask for extra. The lemongrass chikun bowl was very tasty and the veggies super fresh. I felt like the chikun tasted more like a pork meat than chicken but was certainly pleasant in texture and flavor. The spring rolls were great. Fresh and everything you would expect from a homemade spring roll. I'll be going again. There's a side to the place that seats people if you don't want to do just take out but it is essentially designed as a takeout place. read more

Vegan Bowl finally reopened its dining room so we were able to visit again. The food was as good as ever, and the guy behind the counter was super friendly and eager almost to a fault to please. The biggest downside to the restaurant is that it is still serving everything in disposable containers, with the server explaining that it's still supposed to be primarily a to-go experience because they can't get any help with the dishes or the dining area. All of the throw-away dinnerware is needlessly wasteful, and once again one wonders about the reason why they can't get any help. Still, if you want excellent vegan food with a Vietnamese flair, I highly recommend Vegan Bowl. read more

I've been here before, but this time they used wax paper or some kind of paper to separate the spring rolls and the rice paper stuck to them. When I tried to take off the paper that separated them, it stuck to the rice paper and left remnants of paper on it. Vegan Bowl is one of my favorite restaurants in SLC!!! Everything I've had from here has been amazing. My favorites are the ramen stir-friend noodle combo, and all of their bahn mi's. Their food is high quality and their vegan faux meats are amazing. They're all tender without being chewy. The chickun is a crowd favorite for us. Even my non-vegan boyfriend approves!! I love that their bahn mi sandwiches are inexpensive. I've tried pretty much all of them now and the BBQ & teriyaki are my favorites. I always request extra mayo. Their bread is always super fresh and it's a great lunch or dinner. Their Ocean Delight Noodle is also delicious and I love that they include spring rolls in the dish! A great added crunch. It's a cold dish which I don't love so I always heat mine up at home. The fried shrimp is to die for if you're a vegan who misses seafood! The Golden Noodle Soup is also good but probably my least favorite. The noodles all clump together and seem a little undercooked, though the amount of proteins and food you get is awesome. And the flavor is delicious. I'd highly recommend their ramen stir-fried noodle bowls. The portion is huge and the flavor is always slightly smokey which I love. I've never been into vegan food UNTIL now. I love this place whenever I don't feel like cooking for getting any greasy fast food. Their food is amazing and can't even tell it's vegan. The pho is also my favorite and now I prefer tofu over the fatty meat they normally serve us at pho restaurants. This place is the best and I highly recommend for meat lovers and non meat lovers. The flavors here are amazing! The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's a bit pricey, but we will be back! I got the tariyaki chik'n rice bowl and it was amazing! I usually like a ton of sauce to make up for the lack of flavor, but the flavor of the chik'n knocked it out of the park. I didn't need my food swimming in sauce to enjoy it. My husband got the house pho. Other than he fact that it didn't have any shrimp in it, it was great too. He finished every drop. It was flavprful, had a good amount of noodles, and a good amount of proteins. For $10, I think the pho bowl is smaller than other pho restaurants that charge about the same, but it was enough. My 4 year old wanted a sandwich but they were out, so he got the lemongrass tofu noodle salad. He scarfed the tofu and asked for more. The flavor is great and the bowl is huge! He couldn't even finish it, and he is a champion eater for his age. For the drinks, we tried the raspberry smoothie, Thai tea, and the milk boba. From the folks who brought you All Chay in North Salt Lake a second location with a different name. Most of the menu is the same between the two with some slight differences in preparation on some of the dishes. What is added here is a broader selection of beverages and stir fry ramen. Also added is a bright, modern look and feel of the space. They do a brisk take out business even for being open a few days so there are some benches while you wait. Good call. What was subtracted is seating space. There are only a few four tops so plan accordingly. They could also rotate some tables so it's easier to access the tables by the wall. These people know how to prep the vegan ingredients, as this omnivore can attest. I have no problems finding something that is tasty and filling here, unlike other veggie/vegan places. If you judged this book by its title, you'd think its one of those trendy customized bowl places offering excessive amounts of quinoa and kale... BUT its not!! Its actually asian favorites, all veganized, and done VERY well. Vietnamese spring rolls, Japanese udons, Tawainese bobas. There's bahnmis and ramen stirfrys and plenty of 'different' proteins to pair with white/brown rice. The only thing missing is some sushi =D My shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce & my udon soup tasted fantastic, despite being a veggie broth. Paired with my unsweetened jasmine tea for a perfect meal. Basically you can have any of your guilt-y asian takeout pleasures and eat them here guilt-free, while still tasting somewhat legit.
