After posting my review on Yelp several days ago, they called me an offer a free sharpening of my chainsaw and made an apology that my chain saw either was not sharpened properly or not sharpened at all. Saw works great now. They even gave me a gift card because of the terrible experience that I had with my saw not being sharpened. The problem has been taken care of and I have finally gotten the service that I have previously paid for. They provided great communication, and went the (literal) extra mile to get a grill from another store, assemble it, and drop it off to my dad a day early. In a time when every business is struggling to find help, this store rallied and proved their commitment. Thank you! Original: Unbelievable. Oh, please don't shop here. I took in a thumb screw (without knowing that's what it is called) to get two replacements. I showed it to the kid working in that section of the store and he said, "what is *that*?" He looked in a couple of bins then said, "No. We won't have anything like that." Asked me where I was using it, and when I told him it was on a pole for bird feeders, he told me to go online to the site that sold me the pole to see if they had any. I left, in tears, because I already had had to deal with someone else who had absolutely no idea what he was doing. The cashiers were very nice (the only reason this place doesn't get 0 stars) and asked if they could help, but by that time, I was too upset to stay. As it turned out, someone at another hardware store told me what they were , helped me find them, and made sure I had the right size. Horrible experience here and will NEVER go back. read more

Stopped into Ace to pick up a base for my patio umbrella. The one I wanted was showing in stock on their website. Unable to find it when I got there, I asked if they actually had it in stock. They did not. They had a different one, but I didn't want that one. Store websites often show they have something in stock, and they do not. Thanked them for their time and left. Sitting in my car looking at The Home Depot site to see if they had what I wanted, the two that helped me approached my car. They actually found the product I was looking for. I wish had got their names. You would never receive that type of service at Lowe's or Home Depot. read more

I would say this place is pricy, but they had a 20% off bag sale when I was there. I was able to find everything I was looking for with some help from one of the sales associates. This store stocks a lot of different items, and even has a post office in it. This is an independently owned franchise, so if you want to shop local it's good for that. It can be quicker than driving all the way into the other stores (depending where you live). For these conveniences, you should expect to pay more than at the other big hardware stores in Florence. The staff is friendly here, there was no line at the register, and since it was the weekend, they had fresh popped popcorn too! read more

Plumbing Emergency!! This is a place where all the help look like they are in the secret service with their cool headsets. We walked in and they quickly dispatched me to my plumbing needs. Thank you ACE Hardware. While in line, I saw many things that could drive my bill up. My favorite was their assortment of unique lighters. I don't smoke but if I did - I would buy the baseball bat lighter or the oversize BIC (Longer than a 12oz Can)... Anyway - I may go there for stocking stuffers :-) Overall - I will go back when I am in town and have an emergency! read more

Horrible management!! I bought a lawn mower from this store and after using it for half our lawn, my husband said he did not like it as he had to bend over to push it. I called and spoke to the manager, explained to him the issue and he said he would speak with the owners to see if we could exchange it for another mower. We also stopped in to talk to him and to look at other, more expensive mowers, spoke with the store manager and he promised to speak with the owners and get back to us! NEVER heard a word from him! I called and left several messages but still have never heard back so we are stuck with a mower that is too hard for us to use. I will NEVER shop at this store again! If we had made this purchase at Home Depot, Lowes or Menards, they would have taken it back and let us replace it with another mower. read more

Ace, True Value, Coast to Coast, these used to be THE hardware store locations, then came the big box Home Depot and Lowes stores. The Ace store in Florence, like other ones in the area, is of a less intimidating size than their "pack a lunch, you are going to be here for a while" competition and service is easy to find, and knowledgeable. you just have to consider that they are not going to have every item under the sun and you MAY pay marginally more, but some items are also less expensive. The secret that this store holds is a US Post Office location in the back of the store. In the days leading up to Christmas, as the cards were ready to go into the mail, waiting only for holiday stamps, I went to the main post office in Florence, saw at least 20 people standing in line for the USPS employees behind the counter and thought, no way. I stopped at a nearby grocery store service counter and while they had stamps, they were not the holiday stamps we wanted, then I thought of the Ace. A short drive and a short line netted me the stamps we were looking for. I have also used this location for mailing packages. This little bonus makes this store a true hidden gem. read more

I can't say enough about the serivce I just received today. The product I was looking for was not an instore item, but "Wally" looked up what I needed and was a great help. He had great suggestions and even walked me to the additional products I might need for the job I was doing. The great service didn't stop there, he then walked me to the cashier to end my great experience. I agree with the others about the employees looking like detectives as they were wearing their head pieces. We need to keep the small business and their great customer service. read more

Very rude employees, at least the men were. My husband sent me to the store for a dimmer switch and I stood in front of them and they would not even acknowledge me. I finally said excuse me, can you help me and they sent a young kid to help. He knew less than me and he was asking for help and no one did help. I said never mind I will go to Lowes and guess what, I got immediate help there. Never again, will my family shop at this Ace Hardware. Very poor customer service!! I shop there fairly often. They are higher priced than the big box stores but make up for it in customer service.
