Great Lakes Family Dining - an appropriate name for a nice restaurant. I have been eating great meals here for years! While they always get busy on Sunday mornings as they cater to the church crowd, the service is always outstanding, in my opinion. Today, I stopped in for a late lunch and ordered their Roast Beef Omelette. I have never had roast beef for a breakfast item, so I gave it a try. I was not to be disappointed. It made for an excellent meal! This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Give them a try, you might like it, too. read more

Zero stars. Turn around and go somewhere else. Two club sandwiches (with over-cooked leather chicken) and one plate of shared fries, which were greasy and slightly under cooked for $35. Complained about the fries and was told they wouldn't refund them because some had been eaten (???). That's how we knew they were undercooked! But having eaten the smaller crispy ones meant we weren't eligible, even though we left 2/3 untouched. They offered to REDROP THE FRIES! WHO the F wants refried fries?! We've been customers for decades, so it's a shame. They can keep their crappy food and terrible customer service.. there's better restaurants within a mile. If I could give a zero, I would. The sausage gravy was tasteless. I asked the waitress if I could talk to the owner. The waitress came back to tell me that the owner said "If she wants to talk to me, she can come to me". I was appalled that Connie the owner would make a customer come to her instead of her coming to my table to address my issues. My wife and I were looking for breakfast and remembered that there was a old Ram's Horn that had been bought and sold to new owners. Even though there are COVID restrictions you wouldn't know it, the business was humming along. A lot of carryout business. We ordered the Michgander (over easy eggs, rye toast, hash browns and sausage) and eggs and toast (scrambled eggs and rye toast) with water. Total cost $14.76. read more

Set up as a former Rams Horn, Great Lakes was an impromptu breakfast decision since the diner of choice was closed. Overall, the food was fresh and prompt, the service was quite slow. We had at least 3 separate waitstaff attend to our table and it was very difficult to get someone to bring us more condiments. That's being said, overall great experience, and good food. read more

This used to be a good diner. The last 3 times ive come here, all were during normal posted business hours ive been denied service. 3 months ago i show up 2 hours before their posted hours, the girl inside said it was slow so they were all going home. Last month i walked in an hour before the posted close time and was told they already shut down the kitchen. Tonight i walk in at 730 (closes at 8 Tonight), waited to be sat for 15 minutes while being ignored. At 745 the girl says im sorry we close at 8pm. Ok well its not 8... i say, ive been here for 15 minutes . Her response is well wr closed 16 minutes ago. Take your money and your patronage to a different local diner where they appreciate your business and not to a place like this where the employees gobout of their way to ignore you and make up excuses to not serve you. read more

Took my mother there and says down it took20 minutes to get coffee the waitress was very rude spent most of the time on the phone .when I said something about the service she never came back to our table.the other waitresses had to do her job .the food was not good over cooked cold when we got it. Nice family diner with a helpful friendly staff. It was clean and had a wide variety of menu items. Went with a traditional breakfast, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns. Everything was cooked perfectly. The sausage and bacon had a unique flavor that was quite tasty. Wife went with chicken noodle soup and fries. The soup was very good and on the thicker side; lots of flavor. As for the fries, they were just okay if that. I think it was maybe just a bad batch. We'd go back.... read more

I'm always disappointed with the food here. The battered fish is way too greasy. The mushroom Swiss burger had canned mushrooms & I guess they don't know that it's not supposed to have lettuce & tomato. The spinach pie was obviously heated up from frozen. Came here on a pinch to have lunch. Ordered the chicken strip pita no lettuce or tomato. They gave me one piece of frozen chicken tender on a large pita wrap. I asked the manager if that was the serving size and she said yes it would be a extra charge for another piece of chicken. Paid $32 for what I was told was 2 5 piece tenders with fries. That there is absurd. Went and picked up my carry out, went home. 1 box had 3 tenders, other had 4. Both fry orders looked like a 4 year old took one hand, grabbed what he could and tossed it in a box. Called and complained about spending $32 on 7 tenders and 2 toddler sized fry orders and they offered to toss in 2 MORE TENDERS. Been coming here since 2016 and my family is done with this place. Very friendly staff, they have enough servers where you do not have to wait too long between getting seated and placing your order. The menu is extensive without having too much on it, and they don't have anything too weird or exotic. Classic American fare, it's perfect for lunch or dinner! The tables would easily seat 5 or 6, and booths seat 4 comfortably, so it's great for families but probably not so good for large groups of people. read more

So I've been running around with my family for a while and we decided to stop here... Twice. So let's see how I've felt about those stops. It was Very busy this morning, with a lot of Church folks were enjoying a good brunch, my mom just had hash browns while dad had hash browns, eggs over-easy, bacon, and toast with a coffee, i just had water because I ate earlier. Though I tried a bite of my moms hash browns, they were seasoned very well and it was crispy, but not burnt. And the server in the morning was pretty good for it being busy, making sure everyone is happy with their meal, and leave with a smile. And speaking of a smile, I liked how very clean and organized it was despite on how busy it was. I left with a smile. I then return at night with my family for some dinner. Me & mom got a Philly cheese steak sub & Fries, which was scrumptious! And dad had a Gyro with onion rings, he also enjoyed his meal, it was a lot quieter than this morning, almost dead, but service was still great and just still wows me every time I come to this restaurant, you'll never get old of the Great Lakes, and I, once again, left with a great smile. read more

This is our go to place, by that I mean at least twice a week, but on occasion we've gone four or five days. The servers are all pretty spot on and quick. Way more food than Dennys and it's cheaper! The most we ever spent pre tip was 31.00, including two sodas for two people. We typically fall between 19 and 24, though. My boyfriend tends to get breakfast and I get the chicken wrap but the burgers are also good, as well as the fries and onion rings. It's awesome because if you get chips it's a bag of better made! I ordered a water because I do not drink pop and she brought me a pepsi...when asked to return it she apologized and brought the water. THE POSITIVE: The waitresses are friendly, and the restaurant has large windows that let the light in. THE NEGATIVE: For the quality of food they serve, their prices are WAY, WAY too high. Their prices compete with more upscale, trendy restaurant on the west side, but the quality and portions just don't justify it. Restaurant was clean and the service was good. My coffee cup was never empty. The prices are very reasonable. Three people, three huge breakfasts for less than $30, including beverages. This place is great, lots of things on the menu but not so many that everything is sub-par. The chicken fried steak was good, the meatloaf sandwich was good, and the penne alfredo was good, not mushy. The salads were mostly fresh, And the pop wasn't flat, so that's a plus.
