    The O'Hallorans Burger
    Cameron C.

I've walked past O'Halloran's plenty of times, but tonight, I decided to give it a go. The ambiance is definitely of an Irish Pub, and the inside looks absolutely beautiful for a pub. Our service was fast and attentive, with constant refills of water and beer. The O'Halloran Public House Burger was fantastic. Corned beef, sauerkraut, cheese, all on a burger was so good, it was unbelivable. I will definitely crave this burger for days to come. Additionally, the fries were cooked to perfection. When searching for a nice spot with a cozy outside and good food, O'Halloran's delivered.

    Sliders and blood orange margarita

Having a 77 degree day on Oct 18 after a sound bath event and an opportunity for an unexpected lunch with a friend- this was a lovely place to sit on the patio and enjoy a Halloween themed cocktail- Blood Orange Margarita and a trio of sliders (burger, veggie, fish). Mt Clemens is an unsung gem with this restaurant and many other cool shops, restaurants and cafes. And - our waitress was the sweetest young lady! Only thing I'd change is for house made chips.

I would never have walked into this place, because it has such a traditional pub front, I would have assumed it was alcohol-focused. However, my boss said she goes there often, and she was treating me and someone else to lunch, so we checked it out. The restaurant is exactly what you imagine inside: dark with wood floors, a bar, etc. But as we passed through the restaurant and into the patio seating, it turned into something I could imagine in another country. It was super windy and the restaurant probably needs to invest in some paperweights as well as weights for the umbrellas, to keep everything from blowing away. I ordered the roasted pepper salad from the specials menu and it was alright. I was pleased at the size of it but it lacked a bit of flavor. I sprinkled on a packet of pepper and a packet of salt from what had been provided us outdoors and that helped. Overall, I may go back, but there may be closer restaurants that I would choose over this one.

Great place in downtown Mt.Clemens! We've been here 3/4 times and usually have the same server. She's sweet, patient, and helpful. The restaurant is clean, and I enjoy sitting on the patio. We have really enjoyed everything we've ordered. I had a few different sliders once that I thought were great and my husband has ordered the ravioli appetizer a couple of times. Today I ordered the grilled cheese and loved it. Their homemade chips are excellent!

Met with my friend for our weekly Tuesday night dinner. Decided to come by here and try it out! Started with the feta dip appetizer, then ordered the salmon zen bowl with a salad. The feta dip was really good, I'd never had anything like that before and it was really tasty. The salmon zen bowl was really good. My only issue was that the broccoli wasn't cooked all the way through so it was rock hard to chew. My friend ordered the beer battered fish and chips and loved it! Definitely a great spot for a drink or cocktail and some good food.

We were looking for something to do in Mt Clemens and decided to try this place out. It's been here since 2016 but somehow I have never heard of it. Admittedly we don't hang out in Mt Clemens often. It's funny because we used to come here quite a bit. Anyway we got here early. I always feel like an old lady with my early bird specials, but I only eat one meal a day and that's dinner. So, I like to eat on the early side so I don't get hangry. When we arrived the place was empty. We sat at the bar and ordered beers. They didn't have a huge selection of beers but they had an Ellison Amber so we were happy. They were out of Oberon and two hearted. Their menu was pretty impressive. They had everything from starters to full entrees. I make chicken Florentine at home and wanted to try their version. It was super yummy. However, I have a very delicate palate. It was too spicy for me. So I only had a couple of bites. He tried it and said it wasn't hot at all. But I'm very sensitive. This came with a side and soup or salad. I got the French onion soup . Very delicious! He got a huge half pound burger with bacon and cheddar. It must have been good because he didn't share. There was a Prince cover band playing at the Emerald Ballroom so this place ended up getting packed. We ran into a couple old friends that we had not seen in a long time which was super fun. We got to hang out and chat before the concert. We had a great time and look forward to coming back this summer and sitting on their patio soaking up the sun. If the sun ever decides to make an appearance. This rain can take a hike!

It doesn't feel thrown together at all. The finishes, the vibe, even the way everything flows... it's just nice. And the outdoor patio?? Huge. That said... the upstairs is LOUD. Like borderline "I can't hear the person next to me" loud lol. Maybe I'm just getting old but wow. Drinks are where they shine. Stick with beer or whiskey and you're golden. Food used to be rough, not gonna lie, but I gave it another shot recently and it was actually really good this time, so that was a pleasant surprise. Service has always been solid for me. Nothing over the top, just consistently good. Overall, it's one of those places you go knowing you'll have a good time, even if it gets a little chaotic. I really wanted to like this place…read more I came here on New Year's Eve and they had a free buffet, which honestly set the bar pretty high. Simple food but done well -- a sub, stroganoff, salad. Nothing fancy, just generous and genuinely appreciated. Between that and seeing all the events at The Hut (bands, brunch, paint & sip, Super Bowl parties), I fully planned on coming back. Unfortunately, this return visit changed my mind. I ordered the turkey Reuben with onion rings. The onion rings were cooked so hard they lost all flavor, and the turkey was smoked but extremely dry. To make matters worse, there was a small piece of blue plastic or bristle in the sandwich. Service was polite, but uncomfortable at times. The older man -- who I believe may be the owner -- lingered very close, seemed shaky, and poured drinks far stronger than intended. I usually appreciate a generous pour, but these were unbalanced and not enjoyable. When the bill came, there was a cash vs credit price option, and we were told we were the first guests to use the new system. Even so, the total still didn't match the menu prices we ordered from, and that wasn't clearly explained upfront, which made the experience confusing. Ambiance-wise, it's a classic dive bar -- no complaints there. Live bands, lots of events, and a hole-in-the-wall feel. That part is honestly the strongest draw. For anyone unfamiliar, this used to be Mangan's Irish Hut for years. The original owners retired, someone new bought it, and now it's just "The Hut." The Irish Hut signage is still on the building, with BBQ signage in spots as well, so it feels like the place is still finding its identity. If I'm speaking directly to the owner: there is potential here. The event ideas and community focus are great. But food consistency, drink balance, menu accuracy, and clearer communication all need attention.

Got a huge bread basket that looked empty, when peering in, two small pieces of stale french bread smothered in Saran wrap were visible. Shame all that wasted space. C'mon Gumbo. Don't skimp on the bread. Serve it fresh too! During past dining experiences, the fried shrimp and hushpuppies were much larger. During this visit they were midget sized, like they were "cooking to a price point". That said, Gumbo's always excelled at frying and they tasted great. The fried catfish was dredged in cornmeal and flour. It tasted as good as catfish can taste, considering slimy-stank taste is natural to a bottom feeder and next to impossible to cook out. If you like catfish, gather up a chair, you're in the right place. The gumbo was watery with small dices of sausage and more midget shrimp. The broth had little taste. Mediocre gumbo is a misdemeanor violation. I wrote Gumbo's a ticket on that one. The cajun pasta was very good. In the old days they used bowtie pasta in a thick creamy sauce smacked with Cajun decadence and big ole' shrimps. Today they used penne (not a big deal, but it cheapens the dish) in a disappointly watery sauce with a few midget shrimp. It still tasted good but it quite clear at this point Gumbo's was cooking to a price point. The STAR OF THE SHOW was the shrimp crawfish etouffee. Wow! Thick, creamy, rich gravy with a heavenly base of toasted roux having notes of roasted peanut. They got that one right, midget shrimps and all. I want another bowl NOW! DIATRIBE ALERT: Service wasn't terrible but far from exceptional. The new generation of wait staff expects big tips for mediocre service, like we should should be honored by their presence. I always tip large despite my general grumpiness. Problem is, tipping culture has gotten out of hand. It's become a bottomless pit of greed. Front and back staff with their hands out perpetually. Cash registers programmed to induce tip guilt. Dirty looks for not tipping a carry-out order. CARRY-OUT RULES: If I don't sit down to eat, I ain't tipping your ass. Go back to Nursing School or something like that. Why should the customer pick up the slack for an industry refusing to pay employees a decent wage? SUMMARY: Love the vibe. Like the food. Gumbo's was clearly cooking to a price point. Midget shrimp? Sacriledge. New Orleans ain't like that.
