This is my go-to local place for easy dine-in meals. They have great food no matter what time of the day, although they do run breakfast deals until 11am. The portions are good for the price. My favorite item to get is the deluxe Lisa's chicken pita meal. I can eat that for two meals! Love this place! My secret weapon pick for when I want a great home-cooked meal served without pretentious fluff. The long-term owners are the Last of the Mohican's. Ain't gonna find many places run old-school like this anymore. It's one of the few surviving places that reminds me of how dining was pre-1980, back before most everyone became gluten-intolerant vegetarians with multiple food allergies. Service is efficient. The waitresses are no-nonsense East-side girls tossing plates around like the Ed Sullivan show. The old-school booths are a little small, but then again, not many people weighed 400+ pounds pre-1980. Great specials abound! I can honestly say I've never eaten a bad meal here. You won't find a better tasting Sunday turkey dinner at such a great price (and huge portions). I also love the pot roast, pork chops, chicken and ham dishes. Gimme those mashed potatoes and gravy too! Smother it baby! Look at the crowd, all shapes, sizes, and colors. People know good food. The word is out, it can get crowded at the usual breakfast and dinner rush times. It's a zoo when church let's out on Sunday. If I lived closer I would eat here several times a week. read more

Jim & Lisa are the owners & have been for the last 30 years or so. I've been coming here over 20 years. Full breakfast, lunch & dinner menu. They have a children's menu too. The food is delicious. They have daily specials too. Prices are very reasonable & there's a senior menu too. The entire staff are very friendly. Jim & Lisa are the best owners you'll ever meet. They mingle with the customers. It's kinda like Cheer's where everyone knows your name. The love Jim & Lisa have for each other is showed in the hard work & dedication they have for their business. I should of listened to my first instinct, to turn around and walk out. But I was meeting family there. as I I stood there greeting my family members, I had the sensation of my feet sticking to the carpet as I tried to lift them. As I looked down, the once floral patterned carpet was a disgusting sticky brown color. You could barely notice the flowers in the design. I don't know how they managed to mess up pancakes, but they did. not only did the food take terribly long to get here, but it was undercooked. my family member found a hair in her hashbrowns. Too short to be her hair. The orange juice was almost completely pulp, and had an off chemical taste to it. Food aside, there were flies EVERYWHERE. We constantly had to swat at them to keep them away from us And our food. If this is the way that the dining room is being presented, I'd hate to see the kitchen. if I could leave a negative star review on this place, I would. I was looking for some country breakfast and found this place so I decided to give it a try and it was really good! I ordered the special breakfast that comes with all the meat which consist of sausage link, beef patties, hash brown, biscuit and sausage gravy. I also ordered two wing dings with fries on the side and it was good as well. I totally recommend this restaurant. I see more elderly people than younger adults but who cares! The food is good! We used to come here quite often when I was a young child with my grandpa, cousins, and aunts. In the past year my aunt has always raved about their Italian breaded pork chops. I've went there and had them with her a few times already and they've been ok. This last time I ordered them and I have no idea what cut it was but the first one had a huge bone in the middle I had to cut around. Took the second one home with my scalloped potatoes and this was a normal cut porkchop but there was so much gristle and shards of bone throughout it that I couldn't risk eating anymore of it. Side note- the rice pudding was great there. Negative side note-the woman's bathroom was overflowing and nobody cared. You must try the Country Fried Steak!!!! The chicken is so perfect that I actually wish I was twice as hungry to finish BOTH of the delicious large pieces of chicken covered in that delicious gravy. I ate here twice last week. First time: Fried chicken dinner - Chicken was pretty good, not great but good enough. I got a baked potato instead of fries, potato was hard as a rock and was lukewarm. Peas and carrots also lukewarm. Cole slaw was "liquidy" but tasted good. Cup of chicken soup was decent. 2nd visit- ordered rib dinner...I have to say ribs were worst I ever had. Tough as could be, fatty, could hardly cut into the slab with regular table knife. Fries were good, and got a lot of them. Green beans good, garlic bread OK. Jake and I caught a decent breakfast here after buying a car in BFE. The waitress was friendly and she kept our cups full throughout our visit. They have a good menu, but we were stuck on breakfast. I got sausage patties with my breakfast and they were cooked to hell, with no moisture to be seen. I only ate a couple bites because they were just too dry. A huge complaint: saying "farm fresh eggs" on the menu, then proceeding to serve us liquid eggs. I used to work at a restaurant, I know artificial/"liquid egg product". They were rubbery and bright yellow. Definitely not "farm fresh eggs." Pretty misleading. If you're not gonna serve real eggs, PLEASE don't go out of your way to label every egg on the menu "farm fresh". A decent, cheap, friendly place for breakfast but if you're picky about eggs, skip Country Oven. read more

The food is good, and portion sizes are large. Most of the staff are friendly. I've been coming here for lunch many times over the past 2 years, and tip for two. The last visit, one big staff member with tattoos continually walked over and asked if I was ok. He finally walked by and said "exactly 60 minutes" right before I finished eating. I guess he thought a one hour lunch was taking too long even though there were empty tables. They probably want customers out within 30 minutes during the breakfast/lunch/dinner rush. I was out in an area foreign to me. So I checked on Yelp and found Country Oven. It was basically described as a "Diner-like" kind of place; a greasy spoon. That it was. So what do you order at this kind of place? Breakfast of course. I ordered a breakfast combo of some kind. It was edible, but I can't say that it was wonderful. I ate far more carbs than I should have. I got pancakes instead of fried potatoes. Even with sugar-free syrup, in combination with the toast, that was too many carbs. The worst part of Country Oven was that the food was less than mediocre. I won't rush back here. The food can sustain human life. But the human won't be smiling. read more

This place is seriously overlooked. It's a very old-school American diner/restaurant, but their service is always great, the food is amazing, and I have never had an issue with them at all. The chicken tenders are the best I've ever had (we told the chef, he told us it's because he cuts them fresh from whole chickens!) and the baked potatoes are perfect. Even the simplest things, like Jell-O and side vegetables are superb. Also, the portions are HUGE and I often eat off them 2 or 3 times. I could rave all day about the friendliness of the staff and the deliciousness of their food, but you'll have to try it for yourself to find out. i have tried a few times to order here since the pandemic and i thought maybe it's because they were short handed but the food is getting steadily worse. tonight finally ended it for me. i ordered the half fried chicken dinner with fried potatoes. number one the chicken was burnt and i got no thigh meat. i got a breast and another half breast, the wing was like leather and the leg was mostly batter. i loathe white meat but i usually give my husband the breast and everything is fine. thanks to this i had NO meat to eat. and i asked for fried potatoes and what i got was cubed potatoes that were so underdone inside i couldn't eat them then i have always had an issue with them putting peppers in EVERY vegetable but i usually deal with it and just pick them out. now i am sitting here with hard nasty rolls and canned green beans for dinner. My family and I have been here often, breakfast is always good. My wife always orders the fish and chips when it's not breakfast time maybe the most under rated fish and chips in the metro area. It's not fine dinning, but it's flat out comfort food. Actually Country Oven is hands down dish for dish the best restaurant in Warren. They make all the food they don't just heat it up. Cute and cozy restaurant. Picked up a carry out salad. Have gotten their Greek prior which was great but today I tried the southern chicken salad and asked for all romaine. The salad was missing the cheese . The salad was fresh, crisp big and delicious. They give you plenty of dressing which most places don't . The ranch is amazing and home made. The salad was also served with warm pita bread. The staff was very friendly I was greeted right away and several people also asked if I was taken care of while I was waiting. Country Oven proudly boasts "home cooking" right on the sign when you pull in - so I was expecting nothing less... but also expecting no frills. Luckily for me, that's exactly what I got with prices that were suspiciously cheap. But, we'll get to that in a little bit... Inside this place kind of feels like the set of Golden Girls - or another retirement community. Instead of nice furniture though they've replaced it all with booths. The wallpaper and paintings hung everywhere are straight off the set of Golden Girls. It works, because that's a large portion of the people you'll be eating alongside. They even treat you like family here. At least the host did - he treated us like in-laws as soon as we walked in. "2? You wanna eat upstairs?" to which replied, "Sure." His response was, "Okay, go on up," and came after us about 2 minutes later with the menus. It wasn't a big deal, we're capable of picking out our own table but if we're waiting to be seated... I dunno, I kind of thought I would be seated. It was just an awkward exchange anyway. The waitress was nice and friendly. Full of "down home" stereotypes. It looked like a lot of the women who were waitresses there have been doing this job for a majority of their lives. Probably at this establishment. But none of them seemed to be really old, which was good. I don't like it when I feel like my grandma is my waitress. Like I mentioned earlier, prices here are suspiciously cheap. For dinner I ordered two chicken breasts which came with my choice of soup, salad, or coleslaw; vegetables on the side; and my choice of potato (french fries, baked, or mashed). My price was only $7.25 AFTER tax. My buddy ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs that came with all my same side choices for under $10. The cooking was nothing special, not worth mentioning as stellar but it definitely wasn't crap. Let's be honest, it'd be kind of hard to screw up the items on this menu anyway - it's all typical fare for your homestyle restaurants. Except I did notice a gyro on the menu which I'll have to try and update y'all on in the future. You better believe I'll return here. The prices alone make it a worthy stop on nights when you don't feel like cooking but want a nice warm meal that doesn't come out of the microwave. Hell, I think the prices alone give it the 4 star rating - so there it is. Stop in, get some cheap grub, and have your gut full. Now that's a deal. read more
