I have been going here since I was a toddler, and there was always the joke: "there's nothing great about the Great Mall". It's convenient, close, has a variety of cheap outlets, but parking is TERRIBLE. It's like Valley Fair in that sense without the ambience and quality that VF has. I'll give it credit though, it has revamped a lot of the old, antique-like stores to include high-end fashion outlets like Coach, Michael Kors, etc. The theater is pretty gross, and I only go when it's a last minute decision to watch a movie. The food court has evolved over the years, but I like to stick with my usuals of the Mongolian BBQ place, Charley's grilled subs, or Subway. Great Mall has changed so much over the years it's hard to keep up what's here or not anymore and I can't remember what stores are where. However, Great Mall's designed in a circular fashion with a hallway running through the middle so you really can't be misled in too many directions. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE ON BLACK FRIDAY, just evacuate the vicinity because traffic is one of the most atrocious I have ever seen even compared to the Gilroy outlets (which actually has space to handle traffic where GM doesn't). read more

Beautifully designed shopping mall with plenty of stores. Came here after Christmas and the sales are pretty crazy. As for the interior, the floors are very clean and the mall is not too crowded with people. Happy I came and will return whenever I'm in San Jose. read more

Back in high school, I use to think Great Mall was the shizzzznit. Now that I'm older, I think that it's just any other mall. Before I became an expert on actually knowing and finding my way around here, I use think this place was a HUGE maze. I found myself getting lost...Waking around in circles giving myself a headache because 5 minutes later, I'd be at the same place I started. Lol ....so CRAY CRAY. Anyway, what's great about GREAT mall? Deals I guess. Most stores in here are outlet stores which I love. Coach, Off 5Th, NM last call.. Etc. The food court tends to get packed during the weekends. The choices to eat are Ok...nothing I go crazy over. I hate that they took out the Hawaiian BBq spot here but replaced it with a Filipino food place (I've never tried it). La Salsa isn't bad and hey... There's a Cinnabon... And you can't forget about McDonald's. Finding the restrooms here are kind of annoying.. And what's more annoying is that they always smell like stank urine :-( boo! The lines for the women's restroom in the food court area always has a long line during busy days. I find myself staying here for hours just just looking for good deals. By the end of the day, my feet hurt. As far as parking goes, Parking isn't bad. Weekends are packed tho....And BLACK FRIDAY and During the holiday season are the absolute worse for parking. read more

This place has gone downhill throughout the years and frankly, I don't even bother to shop here even though they built an outlet store for Nieman Marcus and Sak's Fifth. I frequent this mall only to go to two stores: 21 and H&M. Sad, huh? read more

I decided to go shopping here last Sunday. Looking for a parking spot took time. We were waiting for this spot and someone from the other side thought they were there first. We parked and as soon as my friend and I got out of my car, someone tried to drive towards us fast to scare us and drove off quickly. An hour and half has passed, I come out and my car got key marks. Some shady business I would have to say. Don't have the balls to say something, but decides to mess with my car. The audacity of some people nowadays and cannot handle things like adults. We parked close to the Entrance 2 and theirs security cameras. I called Great Mall security about it, but they said unfortunately the cameras at Entrance 2 is broken. What a bad time to be broken. Then told me to file a claim with my insurance. Worse experience here ever. read more

I am a huge fan of Hip-Hop. Always have been. Therefore, I am used to a certain amount of braggadocio. I am also a firm believer of "tooting your own horn," because there are times when no one will do it for you. But to call yourself the GREAT Mall of the Bay Area when you are a collection of outlet shops one of which is the As Seen On TV Store is a basic overstatement of your worth. Yes, I am talking to you mall. How about A Nice Collection of Outlet Stores With a Food Court That is a Centrally Located Grouping of Fast Food Shops. A little long in the tooth but more appropriate than the GREAT Mall. My wife was happy with finding a Saks and Nieman Marcus where I was happy finding a Borders Outlet and Dave & Busters. This place scares me. From parking to walking around in here. Nothing at all in this entire place, nada, appeals to me. I plan to steer clear from this place and travel the extra mileage to shop at the outlets in Gilroy. I rather get stuck in traffic on the way home from the outlets than go to the Great Mall. I would like to say that this mall is A-OK. It has the essential stores for a young woman such as Bebe, Foreign Exchange, Forever21, CottonOn, H&M, ALDO shoes, Joes Jeans, Michael Kors, Coach, etc. It's a great place to start when you need to find a gift for a birthday ASAP. Nothing like Valley Fair, the layout is a huge circle full of outlets and regular priced stores. The food court isn't too shabby if you're open minded, but a hassle to get to since the alleyway from Group USA closed. read more

Ew. Just Ew. The great mall is not what it used to be. Now it is GHETTO. I do not care if they have some nice stores or a decent selection of stores, its still the MALL corporate overpriced stuff. . Super crowded and people not only bump in to you, they try to walk right through you. These are also not the type of people that say Excuse me either, they may however punch you on their way to JollieBee. I will give negative if yelp let me, I bring my dog with my baby here and after shopping while I waiting for my wife go to the restroom,there is a security come with a motorbike teasing my dog and my dog barks him, and they kick me out saying there is no pets in the mall service dog only, they won't even let me wait for my wife come out from the restroom! I affectionately refer to this place as "Ghetto Mall." I think that pretty much describes it. However, to be fair, it's not all ghetto. They do have some pretty decent stores. There's a pretty good selection of stores, so I'm sure you can get any kind of gift over here. My favorites are Marshall's, Burlington Coat Factory, a "seen on tv" type of store which I can't remember the name, and Kohl's. As you can tell from the types of stores I listed, I like to find bargains and these store have them. The food court leaves something to be desired. If it weren't for all the teeny boppers hanging out here, then this would be a pretty decent mall. But, I can't complain too much because it wasn't long ago that I was doing the same exact thing and hanging out at the mall. But then again, I was looking for trouble. read more

Good indoor mall for winters, only problem I see is weekend parking its really difficult to find the parking in pick hrs.

Nice mall, but they need to turn on the air conditioner in the summer time. Seriously. Every time I come and do my shopping here and it's hot outside they don't have on the AC. That's kinda important. I understand that this mall is under construction during the night, but during the day when there is nothing going on, you can turn on the AC. There is no reason to leave your customers and your poor employees to boil to death. read more

I love all the stores. However, it seems like San Jose is more expensive than Sacramento. Oh and there's 2 guys who do the shirt printing thing. One has short-medium curly hair and the other guy is tall. Don't go to them. They will lie saying they'll give you a "good deal" of the sweaters being $25 each when its originally $30. Than they will ask if you wanna do wax for $5 extra on each. You're actually just paying the same amount it would've cost. If you pay in cash be careful cause they might say "we ran out of cash receipts." Because they don't want you to know they didn't give you the right amount of change on purpose. read more

The mall is getting better people!!! I believe this place has gone through almost three different owners in the past five years and this most recent owner is doing something right. They have gotten rid of the ridiculous colored floors they used to have that reminded me of Circus Circus. The stores, well they are an OUTLET MALL. Something you always have to keep in mind in the back of your head. Its a bargain mall, so if you're trying to keep things under a budget I do recommend this place. Ladies: Great Mall does have one of the largest and cleanist Forever 21 stores in the south bay, you can find all the shit you can never find in Valley Fair Forever 21 here. Fornarina, which is my favorite shoe store and clothing store. Fornarina has fabulous Italian shoes and **cha ching** outlet prices. You wont be spending $200 a pop for a cute pair of shoes here and they are unique so you wont see ever other girl walking around with them. P.S. I have gotten BAGILLION compliments on my Fornarina pumps all the time!!! BCBG, not too bad I can find some good things here although smaller sizes are always gone. Saks 5th Avenue Outlet, for all the Juicy Couture velour jumpsuits you want for half the price, Marc Jacobs purses that you wont find at Nordy's cuz its well last season. A few other stores they have are Bebe's, Gap, Old Navy, A&F Outlet, Hollister Outlet, and American Eagle Outfitters. Men: Too be honest....not too many things for you guys at this mall. I remember coming here when I first started driving. This was before GPS devices and I would ALWAYS get lost coming here. I probably would have given this place 1 star back then haha. Fast forward and I'm less than 5 minutes away! I come here when I need: - birthday cakes from Red Ribbon - to use my Victoria Secret gift cards because the one here has a great selection - to fulfill my sweet tooth cravings for a creamy french at Anderson's bakery - antibacterial hand soap from Bath and Body Works - Chipotle for lunch - hosiery from the Legg's Hanes Outlet store I am really thankful I live so close to an outlet mall. The parking can sometimes be a pain but I try my best to go during off peak times. I think the food court is improving but its basically your standard food court with a bunch of Panda wannabes. I hate hate hate the people trying to sell you stuff from their carts or the phone people annoying you with their offers. But they are just doing their job. read more

I remember when I was little I would always go here with my cousin and auntie and then they slowly remodeled but it's still GHETTO! :/ i only like going here on weekdays because I won't get shoved and pushed by the rude ass people .. or get annoyed because people walk way too slow!! haha on the other hand i only come here when i'm looking for cheap clothes to go clubbing or whatever. But the great mall has more girly stores so I wouldn't recommend this mall for guys. I also like going to the abercrombie & saks fifth avenue outlet! Great Mall isn't what it used to be anymore . It's improved ... they've add some new stores ! Used to hate shopping here but now I find it kind of fun . I love the fact that they have an Armani Exchange Outlet , G by Guess , Kohls , Papaya , Victoria's Secret , and Puma . This place is ok. Crowded. people can't walk in a straight line and they take up the entire walkway when walking side by side. Mind you the walkway is pretty wide. Pretty great mall (no pun intended) aside from the fact that it goes around in a circle and you really can't take any shortcuts to come back to a certain store unless you're going all the way around again. There's a wide variety of higher-end to lower-end brands from Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue to Famous Footwear and H&M. I came around 8pm on Thursday (when it closes at 9pm) so there weren't many people left although I can imagine it getting fairly busy. I only wish I had more time to shop here because it's such a huuuuuge mall I can probably spend an entire day here. read more

This is where you go if you want to pick up some underage wannabe racer high school kids. AND I DID! This must be The Spot for kids to hang out because I feel like I'm stuck in some bopper maze every time I come here. This place gets tiring as hell to walk around and no matter how many times I've been here, I end up getting lost. A lot of these stores look exactly the same, too. The Great Mall, as far as I'm concerned is the worst mall in the Bay Area. I was there the day they opened in 1994, and in 20 years I still don't like it. I don't like that you have to walk AROUND the entire mall to get somewhere. It still confuses me where the stores are. I am used to a mall having levels. I don't like walking in a circular motion. I don't like too many of the stores in The Great Mall. What I do like is that there is the Great Mall 20 Movie Theater. Even though, I do not like this mall, I will walk it with my granddaughter, to spend time with her. Otherwise, you can count me out! read more
