I like Great Mall from the old days because it is an Indoor Outlets Mall. Perfect for the hot summer or the rainy winter. However, the mall is slowly getting downhill after the San Francisco Premium Outlets opened in Livermore. The mall is comfortable and in a very convenient location in-between San Francisco and San Jose. I come here a lot many years ago, but the stores listed are not as good as they are before! I guess some brands moved to the new outlets! But I still enjoy walking in the Great Mall. The parking lot is huge and surrounding the indoor shopping mall. Many entrances are on all four sides of the mall. Don't forget you are walked in from which entrance or you'll have to found your car two hours later! Lol! read more

If you enjoy poor customer service this is the place for you. A lot of the shops dim their lights and close their doors about 30 minutes or so before their posted closing time. If you want to eat at the Burger King at the food court make sure you get their at least 20 minutes before closing. Good luck, fellow shoppers. read more

I visited on a Sunday to go to Banana Republic Factory Store. I also went to the Marshalls. The mall is extremely crowded with no social distancing whatsoever. No one is monitoring the crowds of people. It was very warm inside during the afternoon which made it even more uncomfortable. Do not use the restroom. Very dirty. Most of the doors do not stay closed. I witnessed several people holding doors for other people. Parking was tough and congested. I would not return. read more

This place used to be my stomping ground. First time I've stepped in a mall since March. I really want to give it more stars but here's the real deal 1. stores are limiting capacity and/or requiring you to sign up like a disney ride to go into the store. I'm fine w/that however tell me to sign up to go to a store 3 hrs later, nah not worth it for me. 2. they try to regulate which exits/entrances are used in the mall, BUT they don't regulate the amount of people IN the mall. Unfortunately I found myself playing frogger in the main mall, and def some of the same issues as before where ppl bump into you, but now during COVID, come on people. 3. once in store: 95% of the stores don't have dressing rooms, which I get, just be warned. To add another layer many stores even took out mirrors. I get they don't want people trying on clothes, but if I can't even view what it MIGHT look like on? seems silly to me. 4. Restrooms: restroom was the typical dirty restroom. No cleaning staff seen. honestly, I likely will go to an outdoor outlet mall in my future, and do most of my shopping online. read more

The restrooms are dirty and do not have soap. How this mall sells food without soap in the restrooms is now a concern. A cleaning lady was in the restroom "cleaning it" when I was there. I asked her where was the soap in Spanish, since she didn't understand English, she said there was no soap because the homeless broke the dispensers so there was nothing she could do about it. read more

This mall is a decent place to hang out with friends and family or even by yourselves. There are variety of fashion stores here to shop. My favorite store is Kate Spade, Express outlet, Pink and Abercrombie more. This is an outlet shopping mall but it does not mean the price is always cheap. I find it have higher price than purchasing online. But it is nice to hang out in stores from time to time, which I can have a chance to try it on in person. Also, I like it when it has Marshall located in this location, making it even more convenient and fun to wander around and explore more things they offer. They also have a food court within the mall. Of course, the service there is not good but at least have some options of food to have when you feel hungry. Parking is hard to find over the weekends because this place is popular. read more

The Great Mall is great again!! I went there in September and there were very few people on a week day. Victoria's Secret Outlet has rock bottom sale prices on almost everything, $10 for almost every clothes item, including pajamas and cotton sweats and sweatshirts, $3 for perfume and body wash. COVID Update: Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic we will never go back to a sense of normality with mall shopping, or any other shopping for this matter. However Santa Clara County has allowed Great Mall to Open Up. It was not that crowded inside and people appeared to be behaving by wearing masks. Most stores are open at this location with the exception of a few which remain close. Observations: *Dave and Busters is closed, so is the movie theater. *Food court is open with some decent choices, goodbye tables and chairs due to COVID. *As said, no tables to sit in so your food is totally take out from this mall. Same goes for benches if you're tired. You can no longer sit down to catch your breath *Capacity limitation with the bathroom, every other stall in Men's room is closed. Can be a line for the bathroom. *Some stores that allow you to access their business from the inside of the mall have the mall entrances closed - You can enter them from the outside of the building. *Easy access from VTA - Thanks now that BART connects with them, and its a simple walk across the street. Make sure you exit in the right area with VTA! Or you will be finding yourself crossing 4 cross walks to get to Great Mall *Many individual vendors shut down - phone case dealers, mini toy stands etc. *Great mall tries to control the flow of traffic with arrows but nobody following the flow of traffic and walks against the arrows. *Stores like Jolibee - Nike and some other high end brand name stores have lines - they are limiting capacity in their stores so it may be a wait. Daiso actually was limiting people line was too long. Bummer. *Gamestop appeared to be letting in limited people into their store but call to confirm. ~OVERALL~ There is a lot of work that still needs to be done in an age where a respiratory disease is changing the way we go out to the mall or other places for that matter. SCAMMERS!!! Beware of beggars/homeless people & young children trying to sell you overpriced candy at the food court. Can't eat in peace had 2 kids and 1 homeless come and try to get money out of us while we were trying to eat. Where are the security guards? I have never had this issue at any mall before just this one and it's only getting worse. Had a 7-8 year old come sit in my dad's chair while my dad went to go grab food. The little boy was trying to sell us a candy bar for 10 dollars. We said no thank you and please leave. He refused to leave and started making comments about my make up, which I ignored. Once my dad arrived with all the food he still refused to leave and he repeatedly kept saying "Don't rush me" to which I told him and raised my voice not to speak to my father like that. I think the Milpitas Great Mall doesn't get the recognition it deserves. After all, where can one go to find an outlet around the area with so many sought-after brands under one roof with a movie theatre to boot! The only other decent outlet will be the San Francisco outlet in Livermore and one would have to drive a long way to get there. What also makes Great Mall so great is that it's family-friendly and have things to see and do for people of all ages. I love the assortment of stores and eateries. It's nice that I can just go there when I need something in a jiffy. The only downside about the Great Mall is the parking headache during the weekends and holidays. A bit of patience is definitely required. Long ago when it was first opened its prospect seemed pretty grim with fewer stores but I am so glad that the mall is still thriving after so many years and is attracting more and more brand names that it had to expand by adding a connector wing. read more

We went to the Great Mall today and it was my second time coming here. I always try to look for places to shop while I'm up here in San Jose. And what better place than an outlet. The Great Mall is an indoor outlet mall that is pretty much designed like a racetrack. It's like a big loop of stores. I'm always excited to go to this mall. I looked up the stores and checked out the map online days ahead so I could plan my route. They have a lot of great stores and they even have big stores like Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, Daiso. The deals in some of the stores are really good. I told my husband he was in charge of my daughter. I can't do it with her so he took her to Dave and Busters while I looked around for a bit. I ended up buying from Express, Kate Spade, and Ghiradelli. I wished I could've stayed longer but I had to hurriedly shop so my husband didn't have to watch her so long. Until next time. I recently visited the Great Mall after many years (over 10+). It was nice to be in a large scale mall setting. Everything was clean and there were plenty of stores and attractions. Parking was of course hectic, but that was to be expected. The Great Mall is more than a typical mall with its large scale, but also offered that traditional mall feeling. I personally love how big Great Mall is and how many outlets are inside. There is many outlets and I believe the big hits would have to be Nike, Adidas, Kate Spade, and Old Navy. What I love about Great Mall is aside from the few outlets they have, they have Department Stores such as Marshalls, Burlington, etc. And lastly, there is definitely a wide range of retail stores that are just as big as the Outlet stores like Forever 21, American Eagle, Shoe Palace, etc. When it comes to the Food, there is DEFINITELY so many different places to eat at whether it is for meals, drinks, snacks, desserts, or even junk food snacks that can be found at a corner store haha. The mall has different forms of entertainment such as the Theatre, a little play area for little kids, riding machines, etc. I give this review 4 stars instead​ due to how limited parking is considering it is such a big mall that gets quite packed especially during the weekend and ESPECIALLY the Holidays. For many years now the restrooms do not have seat covers. Like why? Why is this okay? Especially when people don't know how to use a toilet. There's pee, poop shit everywhere. You want us to sit directly on the toilet right after someone use it? Not okay. We have to clean it before using it. Not sanitary for a public restroom without seat covers. Summed up this mall is missing things that I actually want and has a lot of filler that I would skip. It's a huge mall that's filled with outlet stores that get all of last seasons goods and a lot of no name stores with questionable quality. There are some surprising names like Kate Spade and Coach considering how derelict this mall looks on the inside but again these are the outlet stores that have things that no one would pay full price for. There are plentiful kiosks abound with tacky goods like custom phone cases that no one wants and t-shirts printed with outrageous slogans. They have some attractions that you can bribe your kids with to behave while you shop. There's a bouncy swing attraction thing that you can pay for, multiple areas with pay per ride cars, a virtual reality racing seat stall, and the Bounce-A-Rama. If you've decided to spend the whole day here, we also have here a collection of the worst casual dining restaurants we have in America including Outback and Olive Garden. I'd suggest just sticking to the food court although worth noting there is a Jolibee in a random corner of the mall. It was really hot in the mall that day which was packed with bargain hunters and there were lineups in front of all the vending machines. Getting into and out of the Great Mall area sucks as traffic backs up because of the stop signs and people slowing down around the Great Mall Drive ring to peer into aisles to check for spots. It's also difficult getting out of the parking lot back on to Great Mall because management has decided to add hedges that block your view of all the oncoming cars. read more

I lived in San Jose for over 20 years and, oh yes, I was here on opening day when the mall officially opened its doors to the public, Sept 1994. With little ones in tow, I braved the crowd, the shoppers and the curious. Personally, I dread crowds. They make me feel a bit claustrophobic. But anyway... there we were (we were more the 'curious' ones). The Great Mall is a large indoor outlet shopping center. It has something like 200 stores and a movie theater. It is a huge, one-story building and takes up a lot of real estate. It's an outlet but not all the stores are outlet. Fast forward to 2017 and revisited recently. Well, it hasn't changed much. You still walk in a full circle to catch all the stores. The upside... you don't miss a single store (unless the store is tucked away in a corner on your way in/out in one of the exit doors. There are a ton of stores to enjoy! The downside is there are a ton of stores and when is this circle going to end! Last weekend, we came in through Marshalls and halfway through we just got tired. We had just come from an event in Milpitas prior and we went to the Great Mall to pass time before we head to another gathering in Atherton. I guess we could've cut through in one of the big stores in the middle (Uniqlo) which had doors from both sides? but, no, we walked the full circle. I only wanted one thing in the mall... a boba drink. There was not one single bubble tea stand (I asked around). They had other fancy fruit drinks but I didn't want those. After making the full cycle hubby found me a Quickly nearby outside of the mall on S Park Victoria Dr -whew!- Also, there were not enough chairs in the middle aisle to lounge about when you just need to stop and rest. One of the biggest indoor outlet shopping mall in South bay I would say. This one has got almost all big brands, many other retail stores and a lot of food options. Inter-connected, large food court, plenty of parking area.. and Century theaters right outside as well. And of course it gets crowded even on a normal weekend. Can't even get near this place for a Thanksgiving eve or on a black Friday. Parking is always an issue during that time. They have multi-level parking behind the mall, but not sufficient enough during the rush. Most of the shops here do have discounts/sales during the normal weekends. It's a great destination for family shopping. Also there are small play areas for small kids - its a little expensive though. Unlike the other malls, it's a flat - one story building occupying a lot of land. It's designed like a big oval shaped building. You can walk around exploring the stores. It sits at the intersection of Great Mall Parkway and Montague Expressway. Quite easy to access from 101, 880 and 680. There's a light rail station and bus bay near the Great Mall Pkwy. Can also take BART to reach here. Plenty of options, but crowded. Many like it, many won't. But it's all depends on you. Check it out! read more

I was walking the other day behind the movie theater and there was a guy peeing outdoors close to the entrance really ? Many people peeing inside the hallways , dog poop all over I though the mall wasn't allowing dogs but only service dogs and I see them even at the food court. I love animals but their humans are responsible for keep the areas clean and the mall is starting to look like snd smell like a trash can poop and toilet . Yelp has a health score for Great Mall of 91 out of 100, just saying I love shopping at this mall, they have some of my favorite stores here include Adidas and Levi's, which always have big deal with like extra 40% or 50% off. Nike store was mediocre, I hardly ever find any good deals there but yeah I like this mall. Parking is not terrible on a usual weekend. But if you come before Christmas or Thanksgiving, you may have to consider Uber or valet parking, they offer valet parking for $5. All indoor by the way. read more
