It was decent, but not the best I've ever had of similar dishes. The egg drop soup appetizer was good and the service was fast. This place is a hidden gem, buried in a strip mall. The food is actual high quality, amazing Chinese food. IT IS NOT food court/mall Chinese food. My favorite dish is any version of the the egg foo young, but I've tried almost everything on the menu. It's hard to go wrong with any choice. You can get items in a lunch/dinner combo special that includes rice, side, and and soup. You can also get it a la carte, and the portions are enough for 3-4 people. The staff is super friendly, and they somehow magically cook everything quickly. No matter how large my order is, It is ready to go in about 10 minutes tops. read more

We've been going to Great Wall since we moved to the area 15 years ago... we tried all the other places (and still try any new Chinese restaurants when they come out) but Great Wall is by far the best one around Gilbert! I forgot how good we had it until we went to my folks house in Queen Creek and they ordered from their local place... it did NOT compare! My favorite is General Tso's Chicken, and my husband likes a variety of things (kung pow, egg fu yung). Soups spring rolls, all fantastic. We truly have never had a bad menu item! read more

OK so I don't usually leave reviews but I felt like I have been complaining so much recently about the fact that fried rice is $15-$20 everywhere and yet the quality of the fried rice is nowhere near what it used to be. It seems like now an order of fried rice looks like white rice mixed with a little bit of soy sauce, and if you're lucky, you might see a little bit of egg and some vegetables in it. And the quality of the protein is usually average at best. To my surprise, I ordered the fried rice here and it actually seemed like fried rice that I had bought in New York. The rice was the right color and it was filled with egg, vegetables and an abundance of protein. I usually order pork, but I can't tell you when the last time I saw real pork in an order of fried rice. This order had the Chinese pork in. It makes a difference in the taste of the fried rice. So kudos to these guys. I will drive across town just to go there from now on because I feel like they actually still care about the quality of their food.. read more

Heard sooo many great things about this place and decided to come and try it out. Walk in NO greeting. The waitress just pointed at a table and we sat down. She brought us water and I said thank you and never got a response back. So when she brought out our appetizer and the same thing happened. I thought to myself she is just RUDE! The whole time we were there she never asked once how the food was or if we needed anything. My husband had to walk up to the front and everytime she seemed like she didn't want to be there. She wasn't rude just to us but other customers as well. Now onto to the food. We order general Tso chicken and I did not like it at all not sure what they put in it but it had a weird sour tangy taste to it. Broccoli beef was good. Meat was nice and tender. Pepper steak was ok nothing like what you seen online. But there chicken eggrolls were yummy! BBQ spare ribs was good. Meet fell off the bones. We ordered all this food for 2 people and overall was disappointed. Will probably never come back to this place. Very disappointed in the customer service and some of the entree. read more

Dropped of the grandson, usually on our way back home wife and I stop off at a little Mexican dive restaurant. However we were in the mood for Chinese food. So, while driving home I asked. "The Wife" to look for something on the way. And wouldn't you know it. This restaurant is only two doors North of the Mexican dive we usually go to. Didn't even noticed this place was here. Now this restaurant is in full covid protocol. Styrofoam cups, and plates, with plastic utensils. We had and shared a full order of orange chicken with vegetable low me in, and steamed rice. We both really enjoyed our meal. Especially how the orange chicken wasn't over powering like other establishments. It was perfect. We enjoyed our meal, the atmosphere isn't that great right now with the safety measures they are enforcing, but that is understood. read more

I was pretty stoked to see they have sesame beef on their menu. This is one of my favorite Chinese dishes since I was a kid but few places sell it. I ordered it with extra sauce (won't make that mistake again) (see pic). It wasn't like the sesame beef I was used to but it was pretty good. Here's where the low stars come into play. The person was coming back with the food, but they refused to remake our food! The people had opened the boxes and eaten our food! Very disappointed with the Kung pao vegetable. Instead of chicken, I was expecting a variety of veggies like broccoli, bell peppers, etc. Instead I got water chestnuts and baby corn. It tasted like a frozen bag of stir fry mix. 75% of the food was water chestnuts. I hate their crunch and flavor and would not have ordered it if I had know. They didn't even have onions in the mix. I ate the zucchini and then threw the rest away. The peanuts also had a weird rancid taste. For $10 I would have also liked to have received a fork and napkin with my order. It felt cheap and gross. This restaurant in under-rated per the some of the reviews listed on yelp. There are many awful chinese restaurants in Mesa/Queen Creek/Gilbert. This is not one of them. I have searched over 3 years for a good chinese restaurant in the local area. Most are mediocre at best. However, Great Wall chinese restaurant on Higley Rd in Gilbert, AZ has good quality food and they do not use any "MSG". Mom and Pop places should be supported by locals! Great Wall is a really good, fairly priced local Chinese place. They consistently make very good food, very quickly! Pride and efficiency are evident in their work. The fish is fresh and delicious as are the vegetables. Soups offer a variety of distinctly different tastes. My favorite is the hot and sour. Be adventurous and try something different. The typical Americanized Chinese dishes are good too but they do so much more than Orange Chicken and egg rolls! If you are able to take advantage of the lunch special, you will get more bang for your buck. The portions are large. Service is very good. Plenty of parking. Eat it or take out. Try it. I have been ordering here for many years. I always get the Mongolian beef and orange chicken with chicken egg rolls.....so tonight with a grub hub order (so I paid like 65 bucks). The Mongolian beef is good. The orange chicken is good. The egg rolls were garbage! All veggies with no chicken hardly at all and THEY WERE $5.50 a piece!!!! I ordered four and got nothing but vegetables? I Would have order spring rolls if I just wanted veggies. That ruined the experience for me. How dare you charge that much and give me nothing but veg! This restaurant is not horrible but not good either. Ringing endorsement, right? No delivery but worth an occasional carry-out. we often order the crab puffs, which are pretty good. No big chunks of onion and peppers and a good balance of sweetness and salt with crab, cream cheese, a touch of scallion and sugar. The s&s sauce that comes with is pretty good as well. We have tried wonton and egg drop soups (flavors are missing and the egg drop soup is so thick it takes on a snot-like consistency. Yes, I went there. :-) We also have tried: -s&s pork (all overcooked breading and no meat), -teriyaki chicken kabobs(chewy, weird texture), -general tso's chicken(awesome sauce and lots of broccoli. again, chewy strange chicken meat), -pan fried noodles(good texture but bland sauce), -all varieties of fried rice(good taste but wish the rice were a bit more sticky) -honey walnut shrimp (great taste...again wish it were a touch more sticky instead of runny) -chicken chow fun (noodles were cooked really well, but WAY too many overcooked bean sprouts. Some of the chicken was good but others had that weird, chewy fake taste again). We definitely go here due to lacking variety with Chinese cuisine in our area. After trying so many dishes and never being extreme impressed, not quite convinced that we will be back...at least not for a long time. read more

Great Wall has some decent food here. The egg rolls were very good. However the pepper beef was a little overboard on the black pepper but was still good I guess you could mix your steam rice in it to offset the excessive pepper. The second time we got an order to go they gave us shrimp low mein instead of chicken and the egg rolls were burnt to a crisp so I'm not sure if I want to punish myself trying it a third time. read more

I've lived close by to this spot since 2016 and the first few years I frequented this restaurant a lot. I love hand made pot stickers and this was the only spot left that still made them as far as I knew. After Covid things changed a bit and I went less frequently but still loved their hand made potstickers. So I would order a bunch through out the year and tip well to help keep the doors open. Sadly I went tonight and they are now cooking and selling frozen potstickers like all the other Chinese food places in the valley. The art of true hand folded meat dumplings/ pot stickers seems to be a lost art these days and now this spot no longer sells them anymore. They got 2 stars because the staff is friendly but the rest of the menu (besides their egg foo young, and chicken corn soup) is very average in comparison with some other spots (kung fu kitchen, yen's noodle house) are much better and worth the drive. I'm really bummed to write that after all these years, I will no longer be going back. read more

They have charged us and nothing. I honestly liked their food but an super annoyed right now and frustrated. Thanks for nothing and I won't be back I placed an order an hour before they closed.
